Oh my goodness! Jemilah from Houseparty here Cherry's grand-daughter :) What a treat to see my grandma! Thank you for posting this :) I'm doing music now incase you fancy watching my video it's called: 'Stay' by Mrs Findlay xx
I had forgotten about lovely Ann Ladbury, didn't she have her own sewing show too? What a beautiful woman she was and so glamorous with it. A real, old fashioned lady, like my mum!

Pauline Parrington the one in the burgundy jumper with the bowl haircut was my cookery teacher at secondary school in the late eighties, there was always talk that she's been on TV.
You can tell the old class differences here. I think Mary thinks Vivienne is a bit 'common'. Well its clear she is, she admits to liking sliced white bread! Mary is of course not far off landed gentry (but not actually) and Ann Ladbury is the go ahead business woman, and thereby is a bit of mystery to everyone else. Cherry is an old school theatrical but well connected and probably friends with a friend of Princess Margaret.
Seems there are loads of us 40-somethings who watched this as kids when we were off school - my mum never missed an episode. It was a strange concept, as a kid I honestly thought it was a real party at someone's house and didn't think for a moment it was an actual set-up TV show! I also loved Crown Court, Paint Along With Nancy, The Sullivans, The Cedar Tree, Pebble Mill at One... and kids shows like Pipkins, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Mr Benn, Mary, Mungo and Midge oh and that funny show with the two spiders who were hand puppets and a lady called Susan Stranks I think.. can't recall what it was called, anyone know?!
Wow crikey, your memories and experiences are identical to mine!!! I was totally baffled by Houseparty :) not a clue what it's point was!! The spider glove puppet things - my sister had one as a toy!! Can't recall the name of it but can see the spiders in my mind!!! :)
Paperplay - that was it! Oh you star - I've got to find the video here. I guess it's a sure sign you're getting old when you think telly used to be so much better years ago. But you know what? It was!
When Keith Martin was the duty in-vision announcer on Anglia Television his introductions were a hoot. He would join in with the opening conversations with such remarks as 'I dont believe that' or something like 'Oh! really?'
@@charlies8833 it was a programme called Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV which was a mix of stand-up, monologues, sketches and the marvellous soap opera Acorn Antiques. I think some episodes are still on UA-cam.
@dariasstalbottson6067 well most People who see my instagram stories think I’m out way to much , just goes to show the difference in 11 years since I wrote that comment 😜 , however I’m sure it’s more thrilling watching your Match of the Day playlist
Loose women ,make these happy ladies look a right bunch of squares my oh my how times have changed, and not always for the better either ,I remember my grandmother watching this every day bless her..!💜
Pebble Mill at one followed by this, my Mum used to take her afternoon nap watching Alan Titch on Pebble Mill and fell asleep as this came on and somewhere in between was a programme called Yoga for Health, with the theme tune which was the Riff from David Bowie's Major Tom or did I just dream that?
Gotta admit, how difficult would it be today to have 4 folk talk about themselves in return for getting their face on Tv & some poor home buddy would watch it!
I can't help feeling that part of this is missing because, at 0:08:07.880 (if you get rid of the adverts and continuity that is) what the girls are banging on about changes all of a sudden.

Another sickie off school classic, up there with Crown Court, Farmhouse Kitchen and the afternoon drama/soaps, good times
Only if you lived down fucking south that is...I don't remember it being on up here in Liverpool
We had them in N Wales, HTV.
I'm surprised by not being on in Liverpool.

This was brilliantly parodied by Victoria Wood a few years later...
What was VW's sketch called? I can't find it and I'd love to watch

I think Meridian revived this for a while in 1993 after TVS had ended as far as I know too.

Can't recall? Did they ever discuss their Anne Summers party aquisitions?
Or post menopausal depression or their husbands' failing libido or vaginal dryness. Of course not, it wasn't "naice". Dreadful, dreadful programme.
Wasn't there a Bunty?
Fascinating!
Why didn't Victoria Wood have a pop at this ? It's just crying out for parody and she would have been perfect with Celia Imrie and Julie Walters.
tyreburster it was on Southern TV doubt she would have seen it.
She did parody it!
She did in a way....the spoof 'McConomy' in one of her specials was very similar...
Dear me, posh telephone accents and top fashions from a different era...
Was this networked?
You've got more to worry about than TB,your fashion sense for a start!
Answer the fuckin door! Wonder who was ringing the bell:)
Ding dong. whose there Avon calling.
Knock knock, whose there, Avon youre doorbells knackered !
What a vacuous group of non entities!
Scottish TV, STV had its own Version of this show :P
Do you mean Southern or Scottish?
Look at the size of those fucking Penguins! Huge!
THIS programme leaves Loose Women trailing in the dust...No one dropping their H's for a start.
No lining in the coat or dress.
Very poor finishing.
Why did they take so long to answer the bloody door, were their hearing aids switched off?!
No, they thought the charwoman would answer it.
I can see why STV opted out of this couple of times aweek!
It could only have been aired on Southern.
