My wife enjoyed the look around ketchum/Sun Valley her grand parents had a ranch (Green Horn) in Hailey in the 1930's and are buried at the cemetery. Her Aunt Rowena had a dress shop in SV and a large saint Bernard that had a whiskey barrel around his neck. Uncle Dick was grand marshal on the Wagon Days parade, i still have some video from our last trip there. My wife skated at the ice rink. Thanks for the memories, Sorry about the drone your last few videos had awesome footage from the drone.

I live in the city of Sun Valley, which the resort was founded in 1936, not 1932, and became a city in the 1950's. It is a little expensive, but the skiing in the winter and the summer's even more make's it worth living here. I've been here full time for 31 years and been coming here my whole life. My parent's built a vacation home here the year before I was born.

I googled the coins on the gravesite. This came up first: Leaving a penny at the grave means simply that you visited. A nickel indicates that you and the deceased trained at boot camp together, while a dime means you served with him in some capacity. By leaving a quarter at the grave, you are telling the family that you were with the soldier when he was killed.

Sure do enjoy watching you all travel.....Being from the Northwest, it has been fun to see your travels thru our neck of the woods. We are a bunch older than you all, but do RV with our Class B RV, and up to this year, we averaged about 100 days a year out on the road. Would love some time to run into you guys and share some stories. Keep up the good work. Really like your down to earth perspective. Blessings!

A few years ago we visited Ketchum/Sun Valley Lodge where my then 72 years old hubby had his appendix out there (the only hospital in the area in 1947) when he was 3. Staff from the lodge allowed us to visit a room that was then part of the hospital. My hubby vividly remembers being wheeled out onto a balcony where he could watch the ice skaters. A real treat for a 3 year old.

That area has really grown. I lived in Ketchum/Sun Valley in the early 70s for 5 years to cross country ski and downhill skiing and summer backpacking. Many movie stars visited Sun Valley. True story: one day I was playing tennis in Sun Valley and I looked in the next court it was Clint Eastwood seriously. He's really tall.

I lived in Sun Valley for a few years in my twenties. I'm in my fifties now and haven't been back so it was kinda cool to see both the lodge and the inn. When the two of you were near the swans I almost expected them to chase you, I've seen them do it many times. Great video and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I’d like to digress a bit . We’re catching up on your trips. Just saw Big Sur - Kirk creek camp. You camped in our favorite spot. It has become very popular so it’s really hard to get in there for more than a couple days at a time .
It’s only 150 miles from our home in lompoc ......

Nothing against you-all, I like your laid back style, and I appreciate it is most difficult to live On-The- Road-' Embracing Detours'. However, what Sun Valley states as the first ski resort is simply not true. There are at least 3 that have had contentious operations (older) before Sun Valley: 1: 1915 Howelsen Hill at Steamboat Resort, Howelsen Hill directly above downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has seniority. Much like the mining district of Ketchum ID. Steamboat CO. being a mining, cattle town would have become a ghost town except for tourism. Howelsen Hill was the training hill for Olympic ski jumpers and racers. Howelsen Hill is why the Olympic Training Center is in Colorado Springs 2: 1927 Granlibakken aka “Olympic Hill” tiny ski hill on the California side of Lake Tahoe. 3:Opened in 1927 three ski areas on or near the 11.250-foot Oregon volcano opened right around the same time. I know this because I'm a Colorado Native and a life member of Ski Country USA, founded in Colorado. I did caution you both about coming to CO. awhile back. Well things have quieted down alot (civil unrest) Wild fires are out in CO. and the Aspens are great, cold in the high country w/ some snow at 10,000 ft.

My son played hockey in a traveling league and Sun Valley was one of our places we played, and yes even the full time residents are Hotie Totie and looked down on us working folk!! LOL

The penny significance was when he was building his home and pool in Key West he left to cover the war and left his wife in charge. Upon returning he asked her the cost and it was north of 20K and he commented to her you might as well have my last penny and threw it at her. It landed next to the pool where it lies today embedded in concrete.

Some but not all. The spot in this video (Lake Creek Road Dispersed in Ketchum) and the spot before this (Stanley Lake Dispersed in Stanley) both were big rig accessible. Our friend in a diesel pusher camped with us in both spots. We use Campendium to find our spots and carefully read reviews to see what size rigs have been in before we attempt it. Hope that helps 👍
