Any tips on the painting process? What was your process? The video's I'm seeing say to sand the plastic, apply a coating, etc etc. @@gregorypalmer2147
I was working for Honda when the new Elements were introduced. I attended the Ride and Drive and sat through the classes. The Element was targeted for young male buyers age 19-26. Boy, did Honda miss the mark! I sold more to people in their 50’s and 60’s than anyone else. People either loved them or they hated them! Sales were laclkluster. Honda had TONS of accessories available too that never sold well. They even sold a tent that attached to the back! Like all Honda’s, they We’re good cars. They were sometimes called “Toasters” and they would blow around on the freeway in heavy winds. The CRV’s were much more stable. I hear that used ones are now in high demand! Just unique little cars that Honda took a chance on!
I attended a focus group sponsored by Honda and they paid $400 bucks for attending in 2003. The funny thing is I went to buy a used s2000 that Honda had and saw a black Element and loved it. Less than a year later someone in a Porche hit an ice patch and totaled the Element. My son was driving it and had his wife and 2 kids in it but thank God no one got hurt. I bought a new 04 in black and still have it. Only problem I had was vtec solenoid and intake manifold gasket. I maintain it religiously at Honda. Best car I have ever owned except maybe a 68 Volkswagen Beatle that actually ran on 3 cylinders (never got around to fixing it). Glad I saw this video as I want to remove and paint the trim rings.
Custom, I ordered the fabric from a VW fabric in the UK and had a local upholsterer do the seats for me. About $1100, + while he was doing that a bought the heated seat inserts which he installed under the fabric then I wired it and installed the switches. Thats in another video of mine if your interested.
You are right the tweeter are fixed but I just removed the whole plastic A pillar interior cover and then used masking tape and painted the tweeter vent area and then reinstalled. It really wasn't that hard. Give it a shot. good luck!
I show most everything in the video except the door handles and speaker covers on the A Pilars. The door handles come of pretty easy. There's a cover behind the handle that you pop off with a flat screw driver. There's just one screw under that to remove. The speaker covers are part of the A pilar plastic. That just pops off no screws just put your fingers on the side and give a tug. Hope that helps!. Let me know if you need any more help.
Went to the junk yard and paid $10 for the instrument cluster cover and vents so I can paint the rings and leave my instrument cluster cover stock in case I want to go back to stock.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m very excited to be able to paint mine in a similar way, I absolutely love my orange car.
Great! I'm glade your giving it a shot. Here's is the website I ordered my paint from. www.paintscratch.com/

The tweeters are fixed in place, and makes job 100x harder. No way to remove grill and paint
