Well, Mark Knopfler... What an insane player!
He has always been a huge inspiration of mine and I've learnt so much technique over the years. An absolute riff monster, great song writer and performer all rolled in to one.
You can play this song with a pick if you like but you'll never get the same feel or sound as playing it with your fingers. I'd say this is like 98% right in terms of the positions and riffs that he laid down on the track. Naturally I play a few things differently just because I'm me.
It's also not the same without the headband!
All instrumentation minus the drums is me. I found a track online and made the whole tune myself. SOOOOOOOO much fun as you can imagine!

Masterful, from beginning to end. I studiously learned every lick from Sped and the solos but putting it all together is difficult. I like the bass line for reference but when it took over the screen I lost my Sped- Mind- Meld for a moment.
Always enjoy your cover versions, Sped. This track has some memories for me. Thank you!

Yes it needs to be played with a pick and ghost notes. Notice how he mutes the Bass notes with his right palm.

@@SpedSpedding thank u mate,I've found it thank u,the 1st solo was challenging but 2nd is even more challenging but its worth it its strange I do find the outer solo abit more relaxing than the rest it's the timing keeping the notes popping with ur fingers so much going on at 149bpm haha but all practice never give up is the key u give me that inspiration mate when I watch u play and ur humor too so thank u buddy I will post when I have got that bit tighter mate.but that sound u have is like original wow its mad how good u got that spot on mate!

You cannot just make this video, then a tutorial covering every lick and not cover the solos.... with that being said, I very much appreciate you and the time it took to make the tutorial video for the licks. Very well done man. Hope to see the solos up sometime soon!

I made the recent tutorial years after this cover got popular; I have had a mad few years, had I made the lesson video closer to this cover it would be way more popular. The licks video didn’t really do big numbers so I thought people weren’t interested in the solos, or have learned them elsewhere. People tend to learn solos and forget the licks/rest of the song. That lesson video was to fill the gaps for many.
