Freedom of expression, as enumerated in the constitution, has nothing to do with private speech. It defends your right to expression/speech from government oppression. Facebook groups are not government (except government/school/police fb groups).

People tend to get butt hurt over things they are passionate about if you don't share their level of enthusiasm. Your review was very fair and will honestly only help to make the Firefly guitars better. Thanks for what you do. And, if you can get a hold of one of the LP style guitars do it. They are stellar.

If a car had a same shape like another one everbody would say they copy it, etc.. But I must say I also experiance that on other Facebook group pages, that if some people not hear what they want to hear they hard critizise you or shoot you out... I get this on a specified synthesizer group i dont name now. I just critizise some in my opinion very bad features about that synth should be different to make the workflow better... That was not what some in the group wanted hear, they shoot me out finally.. But its fine, if I dont like the unit I dont like, its a free world and I name that and the reason why I dont like.. Excellent video Ryan !! As someone whoms been online since the mid 90's ... there is ALOT of instances when a mod takes things a lil too far such as doing this ... AND in the case of something like this ... the brand should be liable for removing you for a honest review which didnt beat down there product ... but pointed out a few things here or there about it ... but STILL recomended it.
As a moderator in the Original Firefly Fan Group, I have no issues with your videos you've posted in the group. We invite constructive criticism that helps to improve the brand. That's what we're all here for. To help make the brand the best it can be. When I say constructive criticism I don't mean bashing. And I have yet to see you bash the brand yet. You give your honest opinion. Without bashing the brand. We are glad you cleared this up and addressed it. We in the firefly fan group administration and moderators and the members there to, share and to help make this brand the best it can be, that's why we do polls and ask for feedback from the group. As the person who made the "what's up with this" post about your video title to the Firefly Guitar Fans FB group, I wanted to reinforce that my post was in the spirit of fair and open exchange of information in that group, keeping the mods honest, etc. I knew there were other Firefly groups but I didn't think they were very active so I assumed it must've come from "my" Firefly group. I'm glad it didn't! It just reaffirms my positive feelings towards the Firefly Guitar Fans FB group :) And my post, in turn, was a reflection of the honesty and helpful spirit of that group. Also, as a satisfied owner of a 338 and a thinline, I've been very impressed with what Firefly can do with 140$; as a customer, you just have to have realistic expectations (and a proclivity to tinker doesn't hurt either)! Dude, when I saw your comparison video, I found you were even overly apologetic of the Firefly, in my opinion. The Harley is way easier to choose to keep between the two for me. People are free to talk about what they like or do not like about these guitars. We have a lot of discussion about what can be done to make these guitars better. Hi Ryan, thanks for posting this! So sorry you caught the flack for doing an honest review of Fireflies (I bought 6) vs. HB (never owed one). I’ve been extremely happy with my Firefly guitars, the new acoustic guitars are great too. Would rather buy USA made products but we gotta step up our game. I watched this review, and really thought it was very fair. OK, there is a bit of a difference in the price of the two guitars, but NOT a huge difference. I would put them both in the same class as medium to low priced instruments. The review was very informative, and in my opinion was not biased one or the other. Keep up the good work!
I thought your videk was very fair. I left Firefly Guitars because one of the mods kept jumping me for things I would discuss. I finally left the group and blocked the moderator. I refuse tk be a part of a group where my opinion doesn't matter. We are all entitled to think what we think. My 338 is from the very first run. I have owned it since 01 October, 2017. I also have a first run FFJR, and a second run FFLP. All opinions of a product are beneficial. Companies need to know the strengths of their products, as well as the weaknesses. I stand by your side on your opinions of both groups.
I started on that unfortunate group when it was still fairly young. It was originally a great place to swap information, ask questions and get a variety of answers, share links. But it changed quickly. The admin banned a lot of good people because, it seems, the only reviews permitted are positive ones. I'd become friends with several people on that group, no longer there, and neither am I. And the group has pretty much dried up - the only information is, oh, they're available on Amazon right now - but by the time you click on Amazon, they're sold out again. So, you were banned for giving an honest review - welcome to the club! You're upfront and straight and give balanced reviews, which is why I'm a subscriber. Keep up the good work!
As a guy who happened to have just ordered a Firefly 338 (Spalted Maple) a couple days ago, and who is also ordering a HB Ricky and their SE-52, I really appreciated your comparisons and comments, also in the video that got you removed from the Firefly group. You were absolutely fair and thorough, and at no moment did I feel you were bashing or misrepresenting anything. Glad to say that I‘m in the GREAT Firefly Fans group, which is full of beautiful people sharing and helping and caring and having fun. Strange that YOU (Mr. Sincere) were banned from that other group.
It's funny, because the group you got banned from is now a Harley Benton group. The guy that ran the page switched, because Firefly stopped giving him free guitars.

I had a similar experience with that group. I bought one of the first run doublecut Juniors. The bridge posts were drilled too far forward for the stock bridge to intonate properly. I pointed it and a couple of cosmetic flaws out and was told by a few members (probably admins) that I was being too harsh. I don't expect much on a guitar at that price point but I do expect it to be playable without having to replace the bridge. I ended up leaving the group instead of engaging in a pointless fight with them.
I honestly think that a bunch of scalpers hang out in BOTH groups. If you say anything negative about scalpers, a bunch of ignoramuses will jump down your throat and say the usual scalper-defending statements about how it's capitalism, all companies are scalpers, etc. I mistakenly did it and noticed the immediate backlash I got. It's sad that a lot of people have sunk to price gouging in the past several years.
I think the Firefly Guitar Fans group might be the guys that started out in ACG. There were just so many Firefly posts that we suggested they start their own group and they did. Nice to know they are the better ones.
Than,you for your reviews. For some of us that don't have financial freedom and struggle sorting out the cheap good stuff verses the cheap well bad stuff. Your reviews and reviews of others help. You show a inexpensive guitar the good and not so good. Well it's the not so good parts I'm interested in . Like can I deal with it. If it's set up we'll I'm cheap n learned how to, fret sprouts I can deal with small imperfections in finish. But issues like where the neck meets body or bad construction poor construction or slopy I can't deal with. A person could end up buying a whole bunch of cheap and used guitars before getting a good one. SO I CANT HELP BUT SAY THANK YOU YOU SAVE US ALL HEARTACHE AND FINANCIAL DESPAIR. That's complete bull... so I guess they are company promoted. Noone forces anyone to click your affiliated links and it makes you a tiny percentage to help you recoup some of the cost for making videos.. OH THE HORROR! The group that banned you doesn't deserve you as a member. Watched the video prior and thought it was very fair and totally unbiased as are all of your videos. Unlike so many other content creators that our out there in the wild. Keep doing what you do and I'll keep on a watchin'! I don't post much, but to me, this just needs to be said.
What I want to see is the onslaught of comments in the original post that got you banned, my guess is that it was a huge headache and would love to see it.

They are selling them [ trying to sell ] them on craigslist because I've seen one just like in the video fire 200$ and no ones buying after 6-7 months nothing so yes that's not healthy !
I'm in the Firefly Fans group and have been surprised at how the brand is listening to the constructive criticism of their product and make changes from that criticism. I enjoy watching the mods that people are doing to these guitars, and the ff338 I bought is excellent with the exception of regular setup stuff. Will probably change the pickups, pots, and tuners, though, but that is expected in a guitar at this price and is only out of preference. But, there are even posts from the admins welcoming comments about drop in replacements for some of these parts. Granted I haven't been in the group very long, but I've watched it grow quite a bit since I've been in there. The only time I've seen them say something negatively about criticism is when people trash the guitar without giving constructive criticism to back it up and contribute to making the product better. Yes, a couple of the admins get free guitars, but they've also put in hours of time trying out different components that go into these guitars to make them what they are for no charge to the company. That's usually how sponsorships work, you get free stuff and do a lot of free work trying things out and promoting the product. The admins have also given honest opinions about what they like and don't like about the components as they are trying them out and even ask opinions from the group to try and get the people what they are looking for in the guitar. if the company keeps listening to their players, they will continue to make a great product for what it is, a budget-friendly guitar.

Not that long ago, Gibson was facing a lot of criticism for their slipping quality control! You're right to point out that a $140 guitar can't help but have issues. Having got myself a Firefly and subsequently geeked-out on dozens of UA-cam reviews of them, it seems like those issues are mostly minor and easily remedied. The problem really isn't that you gave an honest review, the problem is people seem to have their brains in the asses these days! It's too bad that it's become a "thing" now to get up in the morning looking for things to be pissed off about or offended by! We talk about this very issue in the chat section of a band I follow.
We live in a day of "Feelings". It's a shame that honest reviews, one person's opinion, can stir so much "Feelings" and Negative waves through out. Don't let it get to you! Honest opinions are what people need to make financial decisions about products. Like you said, it says review. So you did it, and they don't care for your review. But don't let it stop you! I watched your videos on these 3 guitars. Firefly, Harley Benton, Grote I thought you did a great job. Fair and honest. Of course a guitar that cost more might be better than a cheaper one. Still you didn’t exactly bash the the firefly. You pointed out some differences. You can kinda tell while watching some people’s videos. They are not being honest about the review. I appreciate your reviews and your honesty. Even though these videos are over a year old I just saw them. So that’s my 2 cents.
When it comes to FB Groups and their admins and mods... you take it with a grain of salt. These guys don't like others talking about their cheap guitars. Basically what it amounts to is, they think you're going to run their Members away and honestly, I would not have put so much effort in to defending yourself or your video, but, it is nice to see how polite you are in telling everyone else how immature they are. I gte banned from FB groups all the time and all I ever did was tell the truth and give an honest opinion. I go to FB for the comedy of most of these groups.
Ryan, there ARE guitarists who relish less expensive guitars! Harley Benton HAS had time to learn their faults, yet Firefly IS striving to overcome THEIR"S! Sometimes mass media can get overused, in ways that are being shown every day! Keep it up buddy!
First, your video was great. More than fair. Second, neither FF group is as accepting of criticism or even discussion as I'd like. FFGF is definitely the better of the two, there are plenty of stories of general criticism and reasonable discussion in the FFGF group being muted or removed. I had a couple of posts that were not even related to the guitars, but merely made a helpful suggestion, muted and then removed with an explanation that demonstrated they completely misunderstood the post. Of course, I couldn't clarify because they closed comments. I've even had people private message me letting me know that situations like these are not uncommon and to not be surprised. Having said all that, when your video was posted in the group I thought it was handled very well by everyone (that I saw). Again, it's definitely the better group of the two. But my take is that they are both essentially marketing vehicles that help to build up the hype, which, when combined with the incredibly low stock, generates a kind of mentality that makes folks want to grab the guitar as soon as they see it largely because they will otherwise feel as if they've missed an opportunity. Still, nothing wrong with that necessarily. It seems like a decent little guitar for a certain kind of person. The kind who doesn't mind finish flaws, some requiring some basic work, or who may want to replace things like tuners or a bridge or a pup if it turns out they don't care for them much. Regardless, from then on about 50% of their statements about the FF end in, "...for the money." 😉As for me, I had one reserved on Amazon but decided to cancel it. I'm not the ideal FF customer, so I just spent $349 on a beautiful Epiphone P90 PRO in the lovely Pelham Blue that is finished perfectly and sounds wonderful out of the box. I wish I was patient and talented enough to make the most out of those FFs. Those finishes (apart from occasional little flaws) are really gorgeous. Especially....for the money. 😉
WTF! It's not like you even trashed FireFly guitars. You gave an honest assessment which I appreciate. I am the proud owner a FF338 and am a member of both groups. Up until now I thought they were both fair and open to critique. Apparently one of them isn't. Not a good look for them.
I know this was awhile ago but don’t feel bad. I have been called a liar because of posting my only Firefly experience. I got the Blue Version of your semi hollow. It seemed fantastic out of the box. I played it, cleaned up the fret sprouts and then put it in my case for the next practice. I opened it up and the set neck had separated with huge finish cracks on each side. The case for perfect and there was no rough handling. I can only guess that it was not glued well and when the n could adjusted to climate it moved. I have never seen that before. But I got a refund with no problem because I bought from Amazon. I had it 72 hours. I posted exactly what I said above with the added comment that it makes me hesitant to try one again. I was called a liar and worse. I have Harley Benton’s and have had great ones and a couple returns. I would have no problem leaving a great review if I get a nice Firefly down the road. From helping in a shop I have seen PRS come in with serious issues. I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape when you are honest but polite.
Not much of a loss man. I left both, nothing but cultish, drama filled behavior there. Hell one admin tried to change the name to a Harley Benton group in one because they denied him a free guitar.
Ryan, the firefly guitars fan group are no better than the other group, I was banned from the firefly guitar fans group for pointing out QC issues. So I suspect that the 2 groups are linked by the same people. Don't think that the firefly guitar fans group is the bomb. they are getting free guitars also and certainly have a vested interested in making sure that nothing bad about firefly guitars is pointed out. I would recommend that people go the the firefly buy sell trade group. Their only rule is " don't be an asshole ". They have zero problem with honesty.

My guess is maybe the ban is because you exposed the "secret" many guitar channels LOVE what ever guitar company pays them. The admin could be from Firefly the company. I thought the Firefly came off very good in the review. Or it could just be that Firefly has a cult
Love your reviews and keep'em coming! I never understood why people bitch about 150 dollar Firefly's and HB's. What do they expect for that kind of money? There great guitars for modding! Hell, I've brought Gibson's that drew blood because of bad frets and they cost a lot more money.
I've found that in the different gear groups created around a brand it's hard to have fair discussions about what exists across the market. For instance, in the Wampler tone group, if you ask for a pedal recommendation you will receive five Wampler suggestions. If you ask for a compressor recommendation, everyone will recommend the Wampler Ego.
firefly guitar fans is great. Any issue with any of your firefly's and you immediately have people trying to help or suggesting ways to resolve the issue. it is truly a great group and very helpful. not to mention all the great friendly people. I have no real experience with the other group but have heard from others its basically a fascist dictatorship of a group.
If a guitar is genuinely good and you believe it holds up then it should be able to withstand fair criticism. That's why I love the HB support group, when they F up they are called out on it and that helps improve the guitars for everyone! There is two things tpu can do with fair criticism... Take it on board and improve or ignore it and stagnate.
Yeah the FF group you’re talking about is a bit crazy. Clearly they need to pin a top post with availability info. It’s what everyone is looking for. But they insist that you have to wade into the announcements posts to find the info. And each new person that asks about availability gets the same snippy answer.
This is because THIS group is running a SCALPING SCAM! Any contrary opinion threatens their profits! They buy up, then when FF is sold out, they scalp on various platforms, Ebay, Gumtree, Craig's etc!
I've both heard and experienced the exact opposite with the "Fans" group and it was them banning anyone that didn't praise the Firefly guitar as the most incredible value around or questioned inaccuracies of their reviews and they, edited/blocked or removed content that may have not given the most favorable glow to the brand and they most definitely have mods with a vested interest and for that reason I left, before getting banned.
It was a fair review. I got booted from an Amp forum for suggesting a certain amp be android/iOS compatible like its competition. Nothing rude, was just suggesting. Was told my "cheap @$$" should get a laptop and then I got banned (no, didn't get to reply to that comment) Funny thing.... I own a laptop and run/record my amp with it, just thought it would be nice to also have it on my phone for on the go. P.s. it's a Blackstar
I bought a lefty red one back in Jan on eBay. It had many build issues. Layers of plywood were literally hanging down right insight the f-hole. Didn't have to look hard. Very obvious. There were other build issues, but I have to say, within two days I asked for full refund and they processed with no hassle. So, good customer service.

I hear that they get free guitars and kickbacks from Firefly/Fire Music. I personally don't know if that's true, but one mod's angry response to someone making change didn't deny it either.

You say they are same shape, cause they are same shape, so its a fact nobody can denied..
It must be allowed to ask then or discussed about whats the reason of that... Cause if something is exact same its obviously that there are some common reasons..
If a car had a same shape like another one everbody would say they copy it, etc..
But I must say I also experiance that on other Facebook group pages, that if some people not hear what they want to hear they hard critizise you or shoot you out...

Excellent video Ryan !! As someone whoms been online since the mid 90's ... there is ALOT of instances when a mod takes things a lil too far such as doing this ... AND in the case of something like this ... the brand should be liable for removing you for a honest review which didnt beat down there product ... but pointed out a few things here or there about it ... but STILL recomended it.

As the person who made the "what's up with this" post about your video title to the Firefly Guitar Fans FB group, I wanted to reinforce that my post was in the spirit of fair and open exchange of information in that group, keeping the mods honest, etc. I knew there were other Firefly groups but I didn't think they were very active so I assumed it must've come from "my" Firefly group. I'm glad it didn't! It just reaffirms my positive feelings towards the Firefly Guitar Fans FB group :) And my post, in turn, was a reflection of the honesty and helpful spirit of that group. Also, as a satisfied owner of a 338 and a thinline, I've been very impressed with what Firefly can do with 140$; as a customer, you just have to have realistic expectations (and a proclivity to tinker doesn't hurt either)! Dude, when I saw your comparison video, I found you were even overly apologetic of the Firefly, in my opinion. The Harley is way easier to choose to keep between the two for me. Even if you were hard on the firefly, which you weren't, their reaction is childish and immature. Not like you dissed or made fun of anybody. These people look like fanatics to me. I’ve been extremely happy with my Firefly guitars, the new acoustic guitars are great too. Would rather buy USA made products but we gotta step up our game. I watched this review, and really thought it was very fair. OK, there is a bit of a difference in the price of the two guitars, but NOT a huge difference. I would put them both in the same class as medium to low priced instruments. The review was very informative, and in my opinion was not biased one or the other. Keep up the good work!

I thought your videk was very fair. I left Firefly Guitars because one of the mods kept jumping me for things I would discuss. I finally left the group and blocked the moderator. I refuse tk be a part of a group where my opinion doesn't matter. We are all entitled to think what we think. My 338 is from the very first run. I have owned it since 01 October, 2017. I also have a first run FFJR, and a second run FFLP. All opinions of a product are beneficial. Companies need to know the strengths of their products, as well as the weaknesses. I stand by your side on your opinions of both groups.
I started on that unfortunate group when it was still fairly young. It was originally a great place to swap information, ask questions and get a variety of answers, share links. But it changed quickly. The admin banned a lot of good people because, it seems, the only reviews permitted are positive ones. I'd become friends with several people on that group, no longer there, and neither am I. And the group has pretty much dried up - the only information is, oh, they're available on Amazon right now - but by the time you click on Amazon, they're sold out again.
So, you were banned for giving an honest review - welcome to the club! You're upfront and straight and give balanced reviews, which is why I'm a subscriber. Keep up the good work!

As a guy who happened to have just ordered a Firefly 338 (Spalted Maple) a couple days ago, and who is also ordering a HB Ricky and their SE-52, I really appreciated your comparisons and comments, also in the video that got you removed from the Firefly group. You were absolutely fair and thorough, and at no moment did I feel you were bashing or misrepresenting anything. Glad to say that I‘m in the GREAT Firefly Fans group, which is full of beautiful people sharing and helping and caring and having fun. Strange that YOU (Mr. Sincere) were banned from that other group.
It's funny, because the group you got banned from is now a Harley Benton group. The guy that ran the page switched, because Firefly stopped giving him free guitars.

I had a similar experience with that group. I bought one of the first run doublecut Juniors. The bridge posts were drilled too far forward for the stock bridge to intonate properly. I pointed it and a couple of cosmetic flaws out and was told by a few members (probably admins) that I was being too harsh. I don't expect much on a guitar at that price point but I do expect it to be playable without having to replace the bridge. I ended up leaving the group instead of engaging in a pointless fight with them.
I honestly think that a bunch of scalpers hang out in BOTH groups. If you say anything negative about scalpers, a bunch of ignoramuses will jump down your throat and say the usual scalper-defending statements about how it's capitalism, all companies are scalpers, etc. I mistakenly did it and noticed the immediate backlash I got. It's sad that a lot of people have sunk to price gouging in the past several years.
I think the Firefly Guitar Fans group might be the guys that started out in ACG. There were just so many Firefly posts that we suggested they start their own group and they did. Nice to know they are the better ones.

You show a inexpensive guitar the good and not so good. Well it's the not so good parts I'm interested in . Like can I deal with it. If it's set up we'll I'm cheap n learned how to, fret sprouts I can deal with small imperfections in finish. But issues like where the neck meets body or bad construction poor construction or slopy I can't deal with.
A person could end up buying a whole bunch of cheap and used guitars before getting a good one. SO I CANT HELP BUT SAY THANK YOU YOU SAVE US ALL HEARTACHE AND FINANCIAL DESPAIR. By doing your video reviews
That's complete bull... so I guess they are company promoted. Noone forces anyone to click your affiliated links and it makes you a tiny percentage to help you recoup some of the cost for making videos.. OH THE HORROR! The group that banned you doesn't deserve you as a member. Watched the video prior and thought it was very fair and totally unbiased as are all of your videos. Unlike so many other content creators that our out there in the wild. Keep doing what you do and I'll keep on a watchin'! I don't post much, but to me, this just needs to be said.

They are selling them [ trying to sell ] them on craigslist because I've seen one just like in the video fire 200$ and no ones buying after 6-7 months nothing so yes that's not healthy !

I'm in the Firefly Fans group and have been surprised at how the brand is listening to the constructive criticism of their product and make changes from that criticism. I enjoy watching the mods that people are doing to these guitars, and the ff338 I bought is excellent with the exception of regular setup stuff. Will probably change the pickups, pots, and tuners, though, but that is expected in a guitar at this price and is only out of preference. But, there are even posts from the admins welcoming comments about drop in replacements for some of these parts. Granted I haven't been in the group very long, but I've watched it grow quite a bit since I've been in there. The only time I've seen them say something negatively about criticism is when people trash the guitar without giving constructive criticism to back it up and contribute to making the product better. Yes, a couple of the admins get free guitars, but they've also put in hours of time trying out different components that go into these guitars to make them what they are for no charge to the company. That's usually how sponsorships work, you get free stuff and do a lot of free work trying things out and promoting the product. The admins have also given honest opinions about what they like and don't like about the components as they are trying them out and even ask opinions from the group to try and get the people what they are looking for in the guitar. if the company keeps listening to their players, they will continue to make a great product for what it is, a budget-friendly guitar.

Not that long ago, Gibson was facing a lot of criticism for their slipping quality control! You're right to point out that a $140 guitar can't help but have issues. Having got myself a Firefly and subsequently geeked-out on dozens of UA-cam reviews of them, it seems like those issues are mostly minor and easily remedied. The problem really isn't that you gave an honest review, the problem is people seem to have their brains in the asses these days! It's too bad that it's become a "thing" now to get up in the morning looking for things to be pissed off about or offended by! We talk about this very issue in the chat section of a band I follow.
We live in a day of "Feelings". It's a shame that honest reviews, one person's opinion, can stir so much "Feelings" and Negative waves through out. Don't let it get to you! Honest opinions are what people need to make financial decisions about products. Like you said, it says review. So you did it, and they don't care for your review. But don't let it stop you! I watched your videos on these 3 guitars. Firefly, Harley Benton, Grote I thought you did a great job. Fair and honest. Of course a guitar that cost more might be better than a cheaper one. Still you didn’t exactly bash the the firefly. You pointed out some differences. You can kinda tell while watching some people’s videos. They are not being honest about the review. I appreciate your reviews and your honesty. Even though these videos are over a year old I just saw them. So that’s my 2 cents.

When it comes to FB Groups and their admins and mods... you take it with a grain of salt. These guys don't like others talking about their cheap guitars. Basically what it amounts to is, they think you're going to run their Members away and honestly, I would not have put so much effort in to defending yourself or your video, but, it is nice to see how polite you are in telling everyone else how immature they are. I gte banned from FB groups all the time and all I ever did was tell the truth and give an honest opinion. I go to FB for the comedy of most of these groups.
Freedom of speech is nice. But it’s changing. Freedom of the press is nice. When both are gone what will we have?

First, your video was great. More than fair. Second, neither FF group is as accepting of criticism or even discussion as I'd like. FFGF is definitely the better of the two, there are plenty of stories of general criticism and reasonable discussion in the FFGF group being muted or removed. I had a couple of posts that were not even related to the guitars, but merely made a helpful suggestion, muted and then removed with an explanation that demonstrated they completely misunderstood the post. Of course, I couldn't clarify because they closed comments. I've even had people private message me letting me know that situations like these are not uncommon and to not be surprised.
Having said all that, when your video was posted in the group I thought it was handled very well by everyone (that I saw). Again, it's definitely the better group of the two. But my take is that they are both essentially marketing vehicles that help to build up the hype, which, when combined with the incredibly low stock, generates a kind of mentality that makes folks want to grab the guitar as soon as they see it largely because they will otherwise feel as if they've missed an opportunity. Still, nothing wrong with that necessarily.
It seems like a decent little guitar for a certain kind of person. The kind who doesn't mind finish flaws, some requiring some basic work, or who may want to replace things like tuners or a bridge or a pup if it turns out they don't care for them much. Regardless, from then on about 50% of their statements about the FF end in, "...for the money." 😉As for me, I had one reserved on Amazon but decided to cancel it. I'm not the ideal FF customer, so I just spent $349 on a beautiful Epiphone P90 PRO in the lovely Pelham Blue that is finished perfectly and sounds wonderful out of the box. I wish I was patient and talented enough to make the most out of those FFs. Those finishes (apart from occasional little flaws) are really gorgeous. Especially....for the money. 😉

I know this was awhile ago but don’t feel bad. I have been called a liar because of posting my only Firefly experience. I got the Blue Version of your semi hollow. It seemed fantastic out of the box. I played it, cleaned up the fret sprouts and then put it in my case for the next practice. I opened it up and the set neck had separated with huge finish cracks on each side. The case for perfect and there was no rough handling. I can only guess that it was not glued well and when the n could adjusted to climate it moved. I have never seen that before. But I got a refund with no problem because I bought from Amazon. I had it 72 hours. I posted exactly what I said above with the added comment that it makes me hesitant to try one again. I was called a liar and worse. I have Harley Benton’s and have had great ones and a couple returns. I would have no problem leaving a great review if I get a nice Firefly down the road. From helping in a shop I have seen PRS come in with serious issues. I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape when you are honest but polite.

Ryan, the firefly guitars fan group are no better than the other group, I was banned from the firefly guitar fans group for pointing out QC issues. So I suspect that the 2 groups are linked by the same people. Don't think that the firefly guitar fans group is the bomb. they are getting free guitars also and certainly have a vested interested in making sure that nothing bad about firefly guitars is pointed out. I would recommend that people go the the firefly buy sell trade group. Their only rule is " don't be an asshole ". They have zero problem with honesty.

I've found that in the different gear groups created around a brand it's hard to have fair discussions about what exists across the market. For instance, in the Wampler tone group, if you ask for a pedal recommendation you will receive five Wampler suggestions. If you ask for a compressor recommendation, everyone will recommend the Wampler Ego.
The Wampler _UA-cam_ channel recommends other brands all the time. Sounds like the FB group is pretty closed-minded.
firefly guitar fans is great. Any issue with any of your firefly's and you immediately have people trying to help or suggesting ways to resolve the issue. it is truly a great group and very helpful. not to mention all the great friendly people. I have no real experience with the other group but have heard from others its basically a fascist dictatorship of a group.
If a guitar is genuinely good and you believe it holds up then it should be able to withstand fair criticism. That's why I love the HB support group, when they F up they are called out on it and that helps improve the guitars for everyone! There is two things tpu can do with fair criticism... Take it on board and improve or ignore it and stagnate.

Yeah the FF group you’re talking about is a bit crazy. Clearly they need to pin a top post with availability info. It’s what everyone is looking for. But they insist that you have to wade into the announcements posts to find the info. And each new person that asks about availability gets the same snippy answer.
This is because THIS group is running a SCALPING SCAM! Any contrary opinion threatens their profits! They buy up, then when FF is sold out, they scalp on various platforms, Ebay, Gumtree, Craig's etc!

I've both heard and experienced the exact opposite with the "Fans" group and it was them banning anyone that didn't praise the Firefly guitar as the most incredible value around or questioned inaccuracies of their reviews and they, edited/blocked or removed content that may have not given the most favorable glow to the brand and they most definitely have mods with a vested interest and for that reason I left, before getting banned.
It was a fair review. I got booted from an Amp forum for suggesting a certain amp be android/iOS compatible like its competition. Nothing rude, was just suggesting.
Was told my "cheap @$$" should get a laptop and then I got banned (no, didn't get to reply to that comment) Funny thing.... I own a laptop and run/record my amp with it, just thought it would be nice to also have it on my phone for on the go.

Screw those guys. I would buy an HB over a Firefly pos any day of the week. I thought your comparison was really fair.
I bought a lefty red one back in Jan on eBay. It had many build issues. Layers of plywood were literally hanging down right insight the f-hole. Didn't have to look hard. Very obvious. There were other build issues, but I have to say, within two days I asked for full refund and they processed with no hassle. So, good customer service.

I got attacked on a boss katana group for asking for a recommendation for a portable laptop stand. Because gigging musicians shouldn't use laptops at gigs!?!?
Wow... I guess because Boss doesn't have any guitar VSTs in their catalog? That's just odd to get grilled for that. Makes no sense.

Glad for people like you now the new Fireflys are great .Alnico 5 pickups and stainless steel frets. Nice and smooth tuners They got called out and stepped up their game.
Some of the mods in these groups strike me as the kinds of people who long to be on an HOA board. (That will make sense if you've ever had to deal with HOA letters on December 27 telling you to remove your Christmas lights are you'll be thrown into the Pit of Despair.)

I thought the review was fair. I am a member of the FF Fans group and have a 338. I don't have an HB but I do like playing my stock 338.
