The Bucks’ Irish rainbow jerseys. Classic.

Terry Cummings had Giannis ability and positive belief but he didn’t have that wisdom of “we are in this together” and get his teammates set aside their views to believe in him.

He had a lot deeper team than the current day Bucks though. Moncrief, Sikma, Pressey, Hodges, Ricky Pierce, Breuer and Mokeski. They led the Celtics by 10 in this Game 7 with about 5 minutes to go, then Bird caught fire, and Boston came from behind and won 118-113. Then Boston went on to another 7 game war with the dirty Pistons and won by 2 in Game 7. No wonder, they had nothing left for LA in the Finals, but still pushed the best Laker team ever to 6 games.

The Eastern Conference was HELLA TOUGH in that 87 season. Boston had to go through 1. a tough Atlanta Hawks team in the 1st round that featured Dominque Wilkins, Doc Rivers, Kevin Willis, Spud Webb, etc....2. another tough team in Milwaukee in the 2nd round that had Sidney Moncrief, Jack Sikma, Terry Cummings, etc....3. A REALLY TOUGH Detroit Pistons Bad Boys team that had Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, Adrian Dantley, etc.
However the LA Fakers cruised to The 87 Finals by sweeping all their games against a VERY WEAK Western Conference. They had 8 days off while Boston had only 1 day off before The 87 Finals began.
Also, Philly and Chicago were tough teams in The East that year. The Lakers ran over a bunch of Western teams that could score points but played little defense.
If The Lakers were in The East and Boston was in The West during The 80's...Boston would have more Titles than LA. For Boston, as beat up as they were going into The 87 Finals, to push it to 6 games...was amazing (If Bird hit that last second 3 in game 4...it would have been a 7 game series). The difference in competition between the two conferences in The 80's...is often overlooked.

The Celtics faced Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the first round of the 1987 Playoffs...Detroit was the team that took out Atlanta in 1987
