This video was damn long, but it's also damn important for all new skaters (like myself) to watch! You really effectively teach tips, tricks, and etiquette that noobs would have to learn on their own, which would be a hassle for the community and the individual. I also really appreciate your progressive language calling things accessible rather than handicap!

It’s so crazy this was in my feed. I just got done roller skating outside for the first time ever. I felt so defeated because I could barely stop on my toe stop, let alone go over the ridges in the sidewalk (I had to hold on to my dad the ENTIRE time) . I just kept going up and back around my car trying not to fall. I used to skate very often in roller rinks and frequently went ice skating. That’s nothing compared to roller skating outside. SO DIFFERENT. I’m super nervous to do it again but your videos give me confidence. Hopefully I’ll keep doing it, despite feeling embarrassed from how bad I was. P.S. my neighbors just laughed the whole time waiting for me to fall. Which I didn’t. Because I didn’t go far enough 😂.

Mariah Bailey Take your time to learn and feel comfortable. Avoid crowded streets and downhills. I figure skated for years but that didn't make street skating less challenging. Try and find smooth surfaces to skate, and again avoid downhills until you feel 100% prepared. I am still scared of them. Listen to your gut and your body, they will tell you what you are ready for. Last but not least, use protections. Knee and wrist pads. Those are the main ones. Maybe a helmet too.

Your energy is so serene, beautiful, and makes me feel much more confident taking these tips to the streets/parks rather than intimidated. So I have been deathly afraid of cheese graters since they came out and I haven't fallen trying to go over them, because i've never actually ROLLED over them... I fall all the time trying to avoid them ... I actually broke my tailbone in 2016 trying to avoid them and it always hurts... anyway... now I guess I'm just gonna try rolling around them and over them fast and see what happens! I've googled how to go over them but couldn't ever find a solution ... I was referring to them as "yellow bumps at the sidewalk for the blind" "how do I go over yellow bumps at the sidewalk for the blind?" --- i recently found a video where the skater did a bunny hop -- toe stop .... and I ... see falling. So, thank you ... thank you for an answer and for this video
