Classic Game Room reviews RAD RACER II for NES from 1990 by Square, the sequel to Rad Racer. Gone is the 3D, but the game looks and plays better
CGR Rad Racer 2 review has Rad Racer II review gameplay recorded from NES (Analogue NT Mini) featuring Rad Racer review racing gameplay.
I remember my grandma buying me this game in the summer of ‘91. The happiest eight year old kid in the world at that time. So many wonderful childhood memories come my mind when seeing this video. Awesome upload.
Mark, that was a sunbird, a tempo, and a jetta that you passed
That's my favorite part of the game the roll through! I never knew there was a rad racer 2 I came home from jail couldn't wait to get to my NES but there was an empty spot on top of the old TV it was just a square where the console used to be Mom sold it lol
I literally said "NEW JERSEY!!!" at the same time as Mark. LOL
I got this game back in 1991 and love it. I don't know why everybody hates this game and calls it an unnecessary sequel.
The songs in this game are pretty good, but the REAL way to play Rad Racer II is by picking "Silence" and putting on your own music in the background, that way you can rock out to some Eurobeat while driving in 8 bits!
Great game! I love just how smooth it runs, and also the parallax scrolling, you just gotta love the parallax scrolling!
Eurodance>Eurobeat
racing with Super Eurobeat music playing in the background is exactly what you can do while playing an Initial D arcade game!
I like how the cars start to disappear when you start to pass them
I had this game back in the day, so many hours spent to only get to the 3rd stage... when I got it to work....
Awesome review, Karnage.
This was rad.
omg, you're everywhere and you always get all the likes lol
Hey, are you still there?
5:41 Almost forgot Mark used to make documentaries on American history. Thanks for the reminder Mark.
Is this one compatible with the power glove ?
PS: I love the power glove, It's so baaaad.
It's Rad Racer II, not Bad Racer.
Anymore colorful metaphors, Mark?
ah, the game I gave to my friend because its one of the few games that doesn't work on my FC twin.
only the NES I gave him to play it doesn't work either lol
Nice shoutout to the Gettysburg documentary film. I'm still waiting for more films, but if CGR is profitable, there's no need to put that on hold.
that background at 2:00 is beautiful
loved this game growing up now I wanna play it! I couldn't believe square made it
"Double Dumbass on you" -Mark 2017
Even with emulation and save states, I still can't beat this game. This is definitely before game devs realized they didn't need to make console games aa hard as arcade games because there were no quarters to munch at home.
+Turrican4D The sequel is about the same difficulty as the first, but the later stages are more hellish in 2.
in the arcades it was to much quarters, in early home console ports it was to artifically pad out the length of the game. you could plow through most NES games in less than an hour or far less if you know exactly what to do when.
I got this game awhile back, picked it up with Dragon warrior 2 because I needed free shipping on amazon. its a nice little sequel
Played this so much as a kid. Had I bothered reading the manual I would have known about the turbo charge and maybe beat it then.
The Music sounds pretty epic.
the night races were always my fav
Sick route 30 shoutout, Mark
Looks great; I'm only fair at the first game (I think I've only made it as far as the 4th background), but I sure like, so I'd probably enjoy this one as well.
I hate that it cannot be played on a modded nes classic edition. It just shows bugged scrambled screens during gameplay. Anyone know any suggestions?
You can do a power start if you don't want to lose after crashing.
Actually runs better than Outrun on Master System! Impressive smooth scrolling!
Gum ball crash was my song 😂
ah....Cerveza....Beer!
I click for the videos & stay for Tiago Pereira dos Santos Silva from Porto, Portugal
Games title screen reminded me that it's 27 years old...
I feel ancient.
I never would have guessed that Turbo Volcanoes would sound like the R-Zone.
Parallax scrolling on an Nes game, why yes, I believe there is!
Radical dood! Love the look of the night stages.
can you review swords and serpents
RAD is my initials. Really. It's what I put in at the arcades back in the 90s.
Love the Star Trek references.
Holy cow the game is fast and smooth. WTF the NES kicks ass!
I guess someone just watched Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
Hits us with his book on the front and back of the video......fuck....
lol Like driving in New Jersey
As small as this may seem, the lack of driving noises bothered me. How hard is it to put in the engine sound? They did it for Rad Racer 1. Just lazy.
We all need more CGR… EDF EDF EDF…
Rad review!
Eh? Eh?
Okay I'll see myself out.
Time to go play some rad racer!
Love Rad Racer 2! New Jersey!
please make the CGR logo transparent or move it. It's obstructing my view of retro goodness.
Do I detect a hint of parallax scrolling in the backgrounds? It appears that I do and that's pretty neat on an Nes. Wait...Rad Racer was made by Square?! I don't remember that at all. I thought they were nearly out of business before taking a last ditch effort of Final Fantasy as everything else had failed at the market place? Rad Racer 1 and 2 sold very well and throws that story inyo question.
muito bom adoro os vídeos postados ABS e fica na paz
Love these graphics
Is this better than the Original?
That was normal 80s driving lol
You were so good Mark before Lord Karnage club ;(
Just about every hidden gem on the NES has not been released in PAL format. We are so fucked in Europe I will probably buy a 50-60Hz AC-AC converter and just run a full NTSC TV setup.
Hi, Lord Karnage
please review punisher nes
I GREW A KIDNEY!
RAD RACER 2!?
I've beat both the first rad racer and rad racer II and I can say II is definitely harder than the first game it's fucking fun and addicting though.
"All roads lead to Star Trek 4" =D
If only Pole Position II had come out for the NES. =(
Anyone else has the urge of saying Rad Racer like Ridge Racer?
awesome
Unpopular opinion, but I recall really not caring for this sequel.
Like the car got too tiny and the controls aren't as tight. Also, a lot of the stages are pretty similar and yet less impressive.
Rad Racer was great, but it wasn’t even on the same level as Tubular Trek.
I did not beat the second Rad Racer. It is a good game.
how did they go from an awesome driving game like this, to a game that drives itself like FF15? How the mighty have fallen.
stratisfire completely, utterly, different people.
Totally different company dude, in name only.
This video is rad too
it's karnage time!!!
Maybe it's just my inner sega fanboy, but outrun is just better. Looks better, better music. Is it just me?
Radical Tubular Awesome Game!
This shows the NES could had a decent Outrun port
Rad racer 2 is awesome a classic game!
Do you send a whale to the future in the ending of Rad Racer 2?
new clee are wess ells. why doesn't anyone understand me?
good video
Oh a keyboard. How quaint.
purdy gnarly dewd
This I 💖💖💖💖💖💖!!!!
Rad racer chyeah so Rad!!
it good
I actually own this
#Nioh Review
I don’t like this dude’s reviews because won’t focus on the technical aspects. For example no comparisons with the previous game , which is a much better experience… also no mention to the turbo or the horrible acceleration

How this guy do not do SNES reviews? He hates SNES?
Hohum I don't review games at all, so by your logic I hate all videogames. Also crazy idea when you have hundreds upon hundreds of games to cover, some systems get neglected. (Ps he reviewed Speed Racer on the Snes like twoish weeks ago)
Hohum you must be new here.....
He has indeed, but he's done a lot more Megadrive/Genesis and Nes/FC -games for example. I can understand why, since the SNES library is kinda lacking for people who are into oldschool arcade action titles.
Not Interested.
