Stefan F. No. We cannot trust our instincts - if we did we would still believe that the earth is flat, the sun circles around the earth, and Poseidon causes tidal waves. Our instincts are unreliable. Maybe this couple didn’t act the way you would expect them to act, but no one can say how they would react until they’re in that situation. If the police had looked at the EVIDENCE, like they should have, instead of following their UNRELIABLE INSTINCTS, this couple would not have had to suffer as much as they did.

Not one tear from her boyfriend. Something is off about him. There are still alot of loop holes in this story. How come they did not kidnap her boyfriend too and in most cases if a couple is targeted the usually kill the man because they don't want the witness to be alive. Why was his life spared but she was kidnapped and tortured? how come the police never looked into that? Also how odd is it that the criminals sent the police a letter admitting to their guilt. The whole thing just seems like it was planned by her boyfriend in an attempt to get rid of her. Their engagment is just to keep his reputation in tact as the innocent bf. I feel bad for whites because often times the assumption is that they are innocent and the victims who are usually white, almost never get the true justice they deserve. They are only hurting their own community by not charging the perpetartors to the full extent.

The police treated us like garbage. They literally accused of us being drug dealers (despite there not being any drugs or paraphernalia in the apartment). They didn't investigate anything whatsoever.
There were a string of similar incidents in the same area that we didn't learn about until later. The only reason the incidents came to light was because the 3 men ended up setting a place on fire that they robbed, killing 3 people inside. When it was being reported, there was no mention at all that the previous incidents hadn't been investigated. People had to die in order for the police to do their job.

Wow. I watched 2 episodes of the Netflix version, and it seemed like there was a lot of BS. Like it was planned.
I mean, the way she walked to her dad’s house after being released says ALOT!! Was no panick. She didn’t run or even cry. She didn’t disturb ANYTHING or ANYONE around her. Just calmly and SLOWLY down the street, checks out a car, and wry gently reaches for the door. Like she just got back from a planned weekend for ransom, got “raped” twice with wine and shots. Just seemed so suspicious, and a scam. I’ll have to see what episode 3 tells me

Having watched the entire Netflix series on her case, I am surprised at how evil people can be. Reading some comments from years ago, I am disappointed, angry, and frustrated to see people accusing her of lying, despite the evidence clearly showing that she was indeed a victim of rape and kidnapping. Those cops and FBI agents who mishandled the case, those in the media who portrayed the victim as a liar and a hoax, and those individuals who agreed without questioning how sketchy the investigation was-y'all have a special place in hell. You are evil walking on this planet, failing to be human by disregarding the suffering of victims of these horrible crimes. You are the reason why evil is flourishing, as you yourselves contribute to it.

Imagine a case where the criminal sees the le enforcement not doing their job believing their victims and going out of their way to almost out himself for them to take it seriously. Because the media and the law are just focusing on salacious, imaginative scenarios. It took him redoing similar crimes and getting caught for the whole story to come together and believing the victims… pretty crazy and infuriating. Thank God those cops, who investigating his last crime in another city nearby, arresting him and putting all the dots together. Shameful of their Vallejo police and FBi department for not believing there’s more and investigating, even when shown more proof. Im glad they Denise and Aaron won their settlement against them and got their justice restored.
