Yeah we went to great wolf the other week and the one we went to (being the Ohio one) so I don’t if they haven’t renovated that one but the rooms look the same, and the magic wand thing hadn’t been upgraded in a while and was definitely out dated the water park was a good part of it

Ok im 15 and ive STILL been enjoying great wolf lol its my childhood i love it. and yes i also love Kalahari and im going there again in a few days not hating or anything but i just love both of them :,)
We started going to indoor water parks last year after we went with our 3 year old son to an outdoor waterpark while vacationing in Puerto Rico. He loved it so much we started looking for waterparks and discovered all the different indoor water parks we didn't know existed in the tri state area. Since then we have been to Kalahari twice, Kartrite once, and Great Wolf Lodge once. We went to Kalahari first since almost everybody says is the best but they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Great Wolf Lodge has the most charm imo and the night activities such as their dance parties really made us fall in love. Also while Kalahari had the most options in terms of dining I think the incredibly high prices negates this advantage. Another big disadvantage for Kalahari in the food department is the long wait times and long lines. Last time we were there I had to wait over 40 mins for a pizza pie twice! The places to eat within the waterpark are atrociously slow and the food is just not worth the wait. On the other hand at Great Wolf Lodge we were always able to get lunch in a matter of minutes. I think most of the restaurants at Kalahari would go out of business in a matter of weeks if they weren't attached to a waterpark. Just really bad service. I also find the Great Wolf's buffet to be the best out of the 3 and having an actual Dunkin within the premises is a big plus as you can get a small bite and a coffee much quicker than at Kalahari. Overall, if you have younger kids Great Wolf Lodge has enough water slides, activities, and charm to satisfy Pre K-3 grade kids and shorter lines and wait times to satisfy the adults. We will be returning to Great Wolf Lodge in April. I would def recommend Kalahari for older elementary school kids and middle schoolers - just bring your own food when you go there!
I agree with the kalahari food we couldn’t find food in kalahari so we left and we had to Eat gas station food never agian now whenever we go to indoor water parks I pack 2 thingys of instant noodles per person on the trip and I pack small cereal cups
Former lifeguard from great wolf. Actually might have been working there during the time of your visit lol. I loved that you pointed out the smell of chlorine being so strong. A lot of us guards actually got sick from it last winter and it definitely needs some majors updates. The last thing I heard before leaving this past year was that they are looking to upgrade the waterpark so hopes for the best 🤞🏻

I recently stayed at GWL and i had a fantastic time. I have smaller children so it was easy to keep an eye on them. I was able to ride the rides without feeling overwhelmed. I may do Kalahari when they are a little older. Great video!

I live in the Poconos. There are 4 indoor water parks. They are all similar and completely different depending on what your family is looking for. Each is great in their own way. Wave pool is so much more awesome at Great Wolf. And the indoor outdoor spas take over at Khalahari. Khalahari is quite a maze composed to them all especially if you need accessible access as we do for our child. I suggest you try Aquatopia also. They have a fabulous not so lazy river and decent wave pool among all their other features. Enjoy the wave.

I love the hot spring in kalahari in the winter. They have more thriller slides for my teenager son. I love how much shorter the lines are at great wolf lodge, they definitely have more stuff for the little son of mine.
I’m still at the beginning of the video but me and my gf are wanting to do a vacation to celebrate her graduating from her bachelors and me getting my business started. I’m 24 she’s 21. Do you think kalahari or gwl would be a good place? We’re pretty dorky but I’m worried the great wolf lodge trip would possibly make us uncomfortable because of how kid oriented it is. But I’ve never been to one so I’m just guessing

I love that you did this it helped me by choosing where I wanted to go for my birthday but there is more waterslides in GWL then just 5 and also I. GWL there is a huge watermark outside as well

Hey you’re so welcome! Yes overall I’m not a fan of the design at Great Wolf. I think it’s possible to do a lodge theme without making things so dark and gloomy! Hopefully they’ll make some updates as time goes on though. Hope you enjoy Kalahari!

Omg I’m late, but I’m actually going to great wolf lodge in may! Poconos pa. Only the Normal room though. Your so rite about great wolf lodge food. It was not very good when I went before
there was a creepy guy who made a post in a local fb group to the Pocono one. he said he made reservations and the ticket to the "event" was free. so basically you'd go to kalahari and swim for free. I asked if kts really free to swim and he said fun for the whole family not even really acknowledging what I said then you can press going or maybe amd the only 3 people going were the host and two other creepy looking g guys not from the state so fucking weird. I called up kalahari and asked about the reservation thinking its just a vacation home 7 hour pitch but nope there was no reservation under that name or any events at the specific 10am lot. so still have no idea what they were trying to accomplish im assuming human trafficking
For the great wolf lodge magi quest, me and my brother got 1st on the leaderboard and it was our 1st time ever doing it! Didn’t finish it but when we come back we hope to!

Good luck! Very overpriced hotel with lots of unexperienced staff. Most of the staff are j1 immigrants with no experience that are house in a dormitory across the street. Every 6 months they get new ones on work visas. Very economical!

I used to go to GWL from every year from 2016-2019 until covid happened. When I grew up and covid kind of faded away I started going to Kalahari. But now that they added a new GWL 1 hour away from me! (Maryland) I went there for a week and just came back!
We love Great Wolf and are curious about Kalahari, so thank you for this video! That Magi Quest in GW in the halls is actually sometimes more exciting to my kids than the water park, lol! My husband and I even get into it and it keeps them busy for hours! I think that will be the only downside to going to Kalahari for us. My kids are 11, 10 & 5. This video is super helpful, thanks again!!
I've never gone to Kalahari but been to gwl so many times. Personally I prefer to go to gw because it's not so big. I get overwhelmed around too many people and Big places. gwl feels like home to us it gives us more of a family feel. Also they did upgrade the rooms they did a great job.
Very detailed and helped me to decide which one is better for and some friends. If everyone could tell their experiences and be straight to the point like you like you that would be awesome. Some people add things like my soda was flat, my plate wasn't new at restaurants. All they have to do is request another one. Thank you soooooooo much Kalahari will be my next trip.
How was the loft room? It looks nicer + newer in the pics? Do u have smaller kids or say 6-12 aged? My daughter is 10 + taking her + her frind in a month w my wife. Still trying to decide.....

@@TopFlightFamily I work at Great Wolf, and have some friends that work for Kalahari. Overall, the training of staff at Great Wolf is much better. For me, things that make GWL better is how they treat their employees super well and pay pretty well as compared to Kalahari.
@@TopFlightFamily Ohhh and at the Lodge I work at they just finished up a 4 million dollar air quality update to the waterpark to completely eliminate the chlorine smell!
If u have much older kids that you don't need to keep a eye on then Kalahari but I prefer GW because it's smaller everything about it is comfortable so it's not as overwhelming to keep a eye on your kids and there is definitely plenty of slides and things to keep you busy and the rooms are not outdated.they are meant to feel like a cozy cabin....my family and friends love it there
Thanks to this review we went to GWL first. It really was nice. The staff was so friendly and the water park area was amazing. We only stayed one night so we couldn’t enjoy the other activities available. We went here for my bday but wanted to save the better one for our sons bday in October. I love your content. Thanks. 😊

I love this video. I just came back from Kalahari and although I really enjoyed the pools and the food, I did have a major concern about my room. I paid for the African Queen suite and they gave another family my room which happened to be brighter. The room they gave me and my family was extremely dark and dim. I paid a pretty penny for it, so I wasn’t pleased by that at all. Overall the water park was excellent.
We just left kalahari for 2 days for my daughter's bday their first time to anything like that . And it was absolutely amazing and so much fun! Was not expensive even with hotel all together we spend 490$ for four .

I’ve never gone to great wolf! I’ve only gone to kalahari but I LOVE kalahari but I love those little wolf ears your daughters got there! I loved the lazy river and the wave pool! At the buffet, I loved the chocolate fountain at kalahari
I haven’t gone to kalahari in 2 years I’m going for my birthday in October I’m super excited because now my sister isn’t super young and she learned how to swim so we can do so much more
Great review. I live within a few miles of both resorts. You are missing Camelback resort with an indoor water park, summer time outdoor water park, and winter skiing. Also, you should know that even if you are staying at one resort, you can eat at any of the others. :-) We occasionally take advantage of the resort dining to add some variety, and the game rooms for some fun!
i feel like great wolf is more aimed towards the younger kids and kalahari is aimed for all ages! i loved great wolf as a kid and i would rather go to kalahari now. but you should definitely try out camelback too!

Yeah being a part of the great wolf lodge email list is a great way to save 30-50% off your stay. We're going this spring and after adding taxes and the breakfast buffet it's like $350 for our 2 night stay.
11:05 The Magic Quest at Great Wolf Lodge was something my family and I were looking forward to and it was a great thing to do between meals and the water park, however, the attraction was plagued with many problems and it was very disappointing. Granted this was a few years back and I HOPE they managed to fix the issues by then. But since then, I had been to Kalahari and while I can say that Kalahari CLEARLY copied the Great Wolf Lodge model, they certainly are doing things bigger and better and my family had a really good time there. It does get VERY full there though because they let outside people in, which was something Great Wolf Lodge didn't. As TFF says, you need to be a guest there. So if you vacation to Kalahari, it is best to go earlier in the week like Mon-Wed. We went the latter part of the week and by Friday, the place was pretty packed.
Well unfortunately they have definitely not fixed the magi quest or shadow quest most of the tasks or collected items can't be finished because stuff is broke and out of our 8 wands in the group 5 did not work and they literally did nothing but have us wait 2.5 hours for someone to come and try and fix the wands ....we were number 60 something in their que of people needing help with the magi or shadow quest stuff so we literally just chalked it up to loss and everyone shared but like I said alot of the stuff just didn't work so overall it's a waste of money
Kalahari! My fiance and I don't have kids, so we go for the rides which Great Wolf can't even compare. The rooms look way better there too. The one time I stayed at Great Wolf, the room smelled like towels that been left on the floor, the bed was very uncomftable, and the humidity at night became unbearable no matter what I set the AC to so my sweating kept waking me up.
I’ve was in great wolf lodge yesterday slides very fun,but not lots of slides ,last year when I went to Kalahari,the slides were Amazing way more slides to go on.
Great video, but it sounds like you have only been there once, but you were wrong on some things about GWL- like they do have an outdoor pool area and that the wave pool does have waves that turn on and off. Kalahari is a much newer resort so their amenities and accommodations will be more updated. By the way, november december is the best time to go to GWL. They have many more organized activities like cookie decorating, dance parties, etc. It also snows in the lobby!
Just wondering if anyone knows if the pool bars are back open? When my bf and I went, it wasn’t due to COVID and we really want to check them out next month when we go back.
Here's what I would do. I would come to the Poconos in the winter to go skiing at all those nearby mountain resorts. For that reason I would more than likely stay at one of those mountain resorts and wouldn't need to stay at either of those waterpark resorts as they both offer day passes (Great Wolf Lodge didn't offer day passes back then but they do now at all their locations except the one in Niagara Falls as of now). And which waterparks would I go to when taking a break from all the skiing? Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge. The reason why for Kalahari is because of how big it is and I would go there every time I'am in the Poconos no matter what season it is. My reason for Great Wolf Lodge is because even though there's a bigger indoor waterpark at nearby Camelback Mountain, that one also has a large outdoor waterpark as well where as Great Wolf Lodge is 100% indoors. For that reason I would also visit Great Wolf Lodge in the winter while coming back in the summertime to do both the indoor and outdoor waterparks at Camelback Resort. My only concern is what else am I going to do in the Poconos in the summer time?
I know this video is a little older. Last year and this year Kalahari accommodation pricing seemed to be much higher than GWL. I priced both of them months out and found that Kalahari was about 200 to 300 more expensive per night, not including activities and food. GWL currently offers an all day dining deal allowing you to pay for meals up front.. so there is less worry about hidden costs when you're already there. My kids are 6 and almost 3 are absolutely in love with GWL, but they both like gaming and so Magiquest is a big draw for them.
I’ve been to both (I have better memories with my family at GWL. So I would choose GWL over kalahari) but they are both great and I wouldn’t mind which one I went to. I guess it is personal preference.

I recently stayed at GWL and i had a fantastic time. I have smaller children so it was easy to keep an eye on them. I was able to ride the rides without feeling overwhelmed. I may do Kalahari when they are a little older. Great video!

I live in the Poconos. There are 4 indoor water parks. They are all similar and completely different depending on what your family is looking for. Each is great in their own way. Wave pool is so much more awesome at Great Wolf. And the indoor outdoor spas take over at Khalahari. Khalahari is quite a maze composed to them all especially if you need accessible access as we do for our child. I suggest you try Aquatopia also. They have a fabulous not so lazy river and decent wave pool among all their other features. Enjoy the wave.

I love the hot spring in kalahari in the winter. They have more thriller slides for my teenager son. I love how much shorter the lines are at great wolf lodge, they definitely have more stuff for the little son of mine.

I’m still at the beginning of the video but me and my gf are wanting to do a vacation to celebrate her graduating from her bachelors and me getting my business started. I’m 24 she’s 21. Do you think kalahari or gwl would be a good place? We’re pretty dorky but I’m worried the great wolf lodge trip would possibly make us uncomfortable because of how kid oriented it is. But I’ve never been to one so I’m just guessing

I love that you did this it helped me by choosing where I wanted to go for my birthday but there is more waterslides in GWL then just 5 and also I. GWL there is a huge watermark outside as well

The chlorine smell of Great Wolf Lodge is the BEST! That is what the waterpark smell really shines for.

Hey you’re so welcome! Yes overall I’m not a fan of the design at Great Wolf. I think it’s possible to do a lodge theme without making things so dark and gloomy! Hopefully they’ll make some updates as time goes on though. Hope you enjoy Kalahari!

Your so rite about great wolf lodge food. It was not very good when I went before
there was a creepy guy who made a post in a local fb group to the Pocono one. he said he made reservations and the ticket to the "event" was free. so basically you'd go to kalahari and swim for free. I asked if kts really free to swim and he said fun for the whole family not even really acknowledging what I said
then you can press going or maybe amd the only 3 people going were the host and two other creepy looking g guys not from the state
so fucking weird. I called up kalahari and asked about the reservation thinking its just a vacation home 7 hour pitch but nope there was no reservation under that name or any events at the specific 10am lot.
so still have no idea what they were trying to accomplish im assuming human trafficking

Good luck! Very overpriced hotel with lots of unexperienced staff. Most of the staff are j1 immigrants with no experience that are house in a dormitory across the street. Every 6 months they get new ones on work visas. Very economical!

I used to go to GWL from every year from 2016-2019 until covid happened. When I grew up and covid kind of faded away I started going to Kalahari. But now that they added a new GWL 1 hour away from me! (Maryland) I went there for a week and just came back!
We love Great Wolf and are curious about Kalahari, so thank you for this video! That Magi Quest in GW in the halls is actually sometimes more exciting to my kids than the water park, lol! My husband and I even get into it and it keeps them busy for hours! I think that will be the only downside to going to Kalahari for us. My kids are 11, 10 & 5. This video is super helpful, thanks again!!

The Kalahari is an over priced resort. Most of the staff even in the fine dinning restaurants have little to know experience. Terrible!
I've never gone to Kalahari but been to gwl so many times. Personally I prefer to go to gw because it's not so big. I get overwhelmed around too many people and Big places. gwl feels like home to us it gives us more of a family feel. Also they did upgrade the rooms they did a great job.

Very detailed and helped me to decide which one is better for and some friends. If everyone could tell their experiences and be straight to the point like you like you that would be awesome. Some people add things like my soda was flat, my plate wasn't new at restaurants. All they have to do is request another one. Thank you soooooooo much Kalahari will be my next trip.

@@TopFlightFamily I work at Great Wolf, and have some friends that work for Kalahari. Overall, the training of staff at Great Wolf is much better. For me, things that make GWL better is how they treat their employees super well and pay pretty well as compared to Kalahari.
@@TopFlightFamily Ohhh and at the Lodge I work at they just finished up a 4 million dollar air quality update to the waterpark to completely eliminate the chlorine smell!
If u have much older kids that you don't need to keep a eye on then Kalahari but I prefer GW because it's smaller everything about it is comfortable so it's not as overwhelming to keep a eye on your kids and there is definitely plenty of slides and things to keep you busy and the rooms are not outdated.they are meant to feel like a cozy cabin....my family and friends love it there

Thanks to this review we went to GWL first. It really was nice. The staff was so friendly and the water park area was amazing. We only stayed one night so we couldn’t enjoy the other activities available. We went here for my bday but wanted to save the better one for our sons bday in October. I love your content. Thanks. 😊

I love this video. I just came back from Kalahari and although I really enjoyed the pools and the food, I did have a major concern about my room. I paid for the African Queen suite and they gave another family my room which happened to be brighter. The room they gave me and my family was extremely dark and dim. I paid a pretty penny for it, so I wasn’t pleased by that at all. Overall the water park was excellent.

In grapevine Texas, the great wolf lodge I have only been too has an outdoor water park and way more slides.
Cool! We went to the one in the Poconos, PA and there wasn't an outdoor area there.

We just left kalahari for 2 days for my daughter's bday their first time to anything like that . And it was absolutely amazing and so much fun! Was not expensive even with hotel all together we spend 490$ for four .

Great review. I live within a few miles of both resorts. You are missing Camelback resort with an indoor water park, summer time outdoor water park, and winter skiing. Also, you should know that even if you are staying at one resort, you can eat at any of the others. :-) We occasionally take advantage of the resort dining to add some variety, and the game rooms for some fun!
i feel like great wolf is more aimed towards the younger kids and kalahari is aimed for all ages! i loved great wolf as a kid and i would rather go to kalahari now. but you should definitely try out camelback too!

Yeah being a part of the great wolf lodge email list is a great way to save 30-50% off your stay. We're going this spring and after adding taxes and the breakfast buffet it's like $350 for our 2 night stay.
11:05 The Magic Quest at Great Wolf Lodge was something my family and I were looking forward to and it was a great thing to do between meals and the water park, however, the attraction was plagued with many problems and it was very disappointing. Granted this was a few years back and I HOPE they managed to fix the issues by then. But since then, I had been to Kalahari and while I can say that Kalahari CLEARLY copied the Great Wolf Lodge model, they certainly are doing things bigger and better and my family had a really good time there. It does get VERY full there though because they let outside people in, which was something Great Wolf Lodge didn't. As TFF says, you need to be a guest there. So if you vacation to Kalahari, it is best to go earlier in the week like Mon-Wed. We went the latter part of the week and by Friday, the place was pretty packed.
Well unfortunately they have definitely not fixed the magi quest or shadow quest most of the tasks or collected items can't be finished because stuff is broke and out of our 8 wands in the group 5 did not work and they literally did nothing but have us wait 2.5 hours for someone to come and try and fix the wands ....we were number 60 something in their que of people needing help with the magi or shadow quest stuff so we literally just chalked it up to loss and everyone shared but like I said alot of the stuff just didn't work so overall it's a waste of money
Kalahari! My fiance and I don't have kids, so we go for the rides which Great Wolf can't even compare. The rooms look way better there too. The one time I stayed at Great Wolf, the room smelled like towels that been left on the floor, the bed was very uncomftable, and the humidity at night became unbearable no matter what I set the AC to so my sweating kept waking me up.

I’ve was in great wolf lodge yesterday slides very fun,but not lots of slides ,last year when I went to Kalahari,the slides were Amazing way more slides to go on.
Great video, but it sounds like you have only been there once, but you were wrong on some things about GWL- like they do have an outdoor pool area and that the wave pool does have waves that turn on and off. Kalahari is a much newer resort so their amenities and accommodations will be more updated. By the way, november december is the best time to go to GWL. They have many more organized activities like cookie decorating, dance parties, etc. It also snows in the lobby!

Just wondering if anyone knows if the pool bars are back open? When my bf and I went, it wasn’t due to COVID and we really want to check them out next month when we go back.
Here's what I would do. I would come to the Poconos in the winter to go skiing at all those nearby mountain resorts. For that reason I would more than likely stay at one of those mountain resorts and wouldn't need to stay at either of those waterpark resorts as they both offer day passes (Great Wolf Lodge didn't offer day passes back then but they do now at all their locations except the one in Niagara Falls as of now). And which waterparks would I go to when taking a break from all the skiing? Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge. The reason why for Kalahari is because of how big it is and I would go there every time I'am in the Poconos no matter what season it is. My reason for Great Wolf Lodge is because even though there's a bigger indoor waterpark at nearby Camelback Mountain, that one also has a large outdoor waterpark as well where as Great Wolf Lodge is 100% indoors. For that reason I would also visit Great Wolf Lodge in the winter while coming back in the summertime to do both the indoor and outdoor waterparks at Camelback Resort. My only concern is what else am I going to do in the Poconos in the summer time?

Do you think Kalahari would be ok for winter?
I know this video is a little older. Last year and this year Kalahari accommodation pricing seemed to be much higher than GWL. I priced both of them months out and found that Kalahari was about 200 to 300 more expensive per night, not including activities and food. GWL currently offers an all day dining deal allowing you to pay for meals up front.. so there is less worry about hidden costs when you're already there.
My kids are 6 and almost 3 are absolutely in love with GWL, but they both like gaming and so Magiquest is a big draw for them.
I’ve been to both (I have better memories with my family at GWL. So I would choose GWL over kalahari) but they are both great and I wouldn’t mind which one I went to. I guess it is personal preference.
