What is the range of your free rangers? Lemme start with the ducks, who seem to stay within 75 to 80 yard range of the pen they were raised in. The guineas go their own way, but I don't think they have gone beyond 100 yards. The banties do their own thing, don't mingle much with the ducks or guineas, and I'm pretty sure they don't go as far, limiting themselves to about 60 yards from the pen. Australorps. One of them is often with the guineas, but for the most part, they do their own thing. Some might mingle with the ducks for a while, then go off on their own, while a couple others might follow the banties around, then strike off on their own, yet others may mingle with no one, keeping to themselves all day. They mostly stay within 75 yards of the pen, but now and then wander a little further. Now, if you were to talk to any of the fowl, they might tell you a different story, but I don't believe any of my birds gets more than 300 feet, or 100 yards, from the pen they were raised in. All of my birds voluntarily return to that pen, every night. How does that compare with your experience?

Best of luck! We LOVE our chickens and rabbits and they are a great way to get started. Think about ways you can automate processes on your farm and that will help out with making tasks and your homestead work for you not against you.

Good question, where we purchase our chicks they are fully vaccinated so I would research where you would purchase your chicks from a find a spot that already vaccinates them
