yeah i’m thinking he let him off when he shouldn’t have, and being in the situation before, if a cop asks you to turn the camera of and he was seeming like he’s gonna let you off with less it’s hard to rationalize being like “no this camera is my witness” you’d feel like he would do everything to make the stop hard for you

Had a similar incident a couple weeks ago, me and all of my coworkers were just enjoying a chill circuit around the city. [Being military] we don't have the luxury of being too stupid when we're out riding so everything is relaxed..relatively. we finish our route and pull into a gas station to look over one of our guys that slid out. As soon as that was going on we got swarmed by cops. For brevity sake and anonymity in case my coworkers also watch you, one of them ended up doing a wheelie when he thought no one was looking and ended up getting arrested thanks to the city's new "initiative". Knowing the position you got put into, you did the right thing man. Good on you for keeping it level and doing the best you could to keep everyone's safety in mind 🤙🏻keep that camera rolling though, that's your only proof when it comes to an officers word against yours in court
Dillion I would pay the $140 and just move on. It’s just a hassle to take time off from work, book a flight, book a hotel just to show them your registration. Btw Rain looks and sounds so good.
Being polite is the right thing to do. Not because he’s a cop but because it’s the decent way to treat someone. In terms of the ticket, i would call them and see if it can be handled over the phone. Maybe contact the solicitor’s office directly prior to the court date. With all the different motorcycle videos I’ve watched and some of the people who have commented about “running”, that’s why the cop thinks the way he does. I’d be willing to bet that a high number of sports bikes run from them in that area.
40 year rider and I have certain rules. License, registration, inspection - all have to be current or I'm not riding. Get lit up? Pull right over and kill the engine. Know where you're riding and where you can open it up and have some fun. I've been pulled over and haven't gotten a ticket yet. Most of all, be courteous. As for the bent plate, I almost guarantee you that it's on the books in your state that is has to be mounted vertical and plainly visible. That alone gives them justification to pull you over, regardless of if they press the issue. I think you handled it well. As for the citation, read it carefully and if you can pay it off without appearing in court, and if it's only a ticket, pay it off and keep it moving. If it's a misdemeanor you need to appear and fight it, showing that it's registered and bring any supporting documentation from the dealer.
You did the right thing. On another note, I never wanted an R1 until I saw yours.

I've spent a lot of vacations in that area, the officers had to have been tipped off. They knew the route you were taking in advance although your video made it look spontaneous. Weird to say the least...Be safe! Seeing that UK sign on the pedestrian walkway over S. Limestone was GREAT!

Its weird because we dont endanger anyone but ourselves riding. Cops just don't like that we can drive around without a plate to track and then not be able to catch us. It's their ego and they can't stop you from recording.
Depends, what are the repercussions of having the ticket? Is it like one of those things that if the next time the cops pull you over and run your plates and the ticket comes up, then they be like.."you're a recidivist" so we won't be lenient with you....?
I think you handled it perfectly. I personally would have turned off my camera when he asked too. Sometimes not listening can escalate and with a bike as nice as your I wouldn’t want anything happening from escalating. Y’all did nothing wrong besides tags. All y’all had to do is not run.
The police seem to escalate because the camera is off too. This guy was cool but cops are not our friends if he told me to turn my camera off then the department would be buying me a few new bikes
Not into the whole running thing, especially if you have kids, don’t run! It’s already a risk just riding a bike. OUR KIDS NEED US!
I've been in Tampa, Florida specifically for 19 years; from my perspective, I don't think Fast Lane Gang was targeted when you were here. There's a lot of problems with bikers evading & being reckless. I imagine given that it was a weekend, a lot of Tampa PD, Florida Highway Patrol and local Hillsborough County Sherriff's Office deputies were on patrol in your area, its high population for traffic. Once the 'group of bikers' was spotted, they were probably weren't too busy and thought they'd zone in on you guys in the event something got crazy. To their defense, one guy DID run from them that day, THAT'S the behavior they were looking for.
You mix that with new-age tech - they use so much technology down here to catch people for the smallest of infractions. If he was able to get a scan from behind the group and get tag numbers, he could quickly identify who had a problem bike, like your Duc. It was unfortunate but he was forgiving, so it turned out decent it seems!
Edit: unless the citation he gave you puts points on your license, no need to fight that. You'd obviously spend more to come back to contest it. However, avoiding points could make it worth it.
I don't know about the US but in the UK you can record anything in the public domain just like the PD can record on body cams , You handled it very well in my opinion ,calmed the situation and at all times you were respectful , i myself would pay the ticket and move on ,by the way i love the bikes ,very jealous

Wanna ask real quick, how do you shift on the H2 without the clutch? Do you have a quick shifter?
You just back off the throttle to the point where there's only a light load going through the drive train, then shift. With practice you can also just lightly load the shifter with your foot and then when you back off the throttle it'll snick into the next gear as soon as the load drops.
Call ticket angel or a similar company that can represent you in court… it’s a small fee and you don’t get points added or any negative impact.
In the military the smart NCOs teach that it’s easier to come in hard and mellow as the situation dictates than it is to come in soft and try to go hard. What I saw he seemed ok??

I would get a lawyer so they can just appear for you. I use Carmen Leon in Broward County, FL for all my traffic citations and never have I had to show up. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

Man, go ahead and pay the fine. If, the fine is only $166 like the cop said in the video, he cut you a huge break. Yeah, Florida has some extreme laws for bikers. The whole tag thing, wheelies, running, it’s just not worth it. Any mode I do to my bike I try to make sure I keep it within the law. I don’t have time to give to these cops. My time to me is precious and I don’t want to waste it talking to them. I too am always respectful to cops and that has gotten me by with warnings but I also have had my fair share of tickets. I’m older now and just don’t have time for the BS. Be safe and educate yourself on the Florida biker laws so they won’t have a reason to pull you over for BS. Ride safe brother.
i guess legally you need to have your tag vertical here in florida. but 9/10 time the cops dont care. ive ridden without my tag for years at this point and ive only been pulled over once for that reason and got a warning because my reg and insurance was good. it honestly depends on the area and the cop.

D, come to the EastCoast next time, Tampa is alright but it’s the west coast you gotta swing to the east coast towards Daytona Melbourne, cops are extremely chill, a lot of good roads to ride.. 1 specifically by me it’s about 50 miles of just empty road to cruise down, think about that 40-50 miles of open nearly empty roads. Fine flight accommodation time off work and for anxiety and stress of nearly getting arrested and having your bike taken off you.
I'd send a copy of the ticket, the registration and pictures of the updated license plate with the tab on it
The supreme court ruled you can record interations with police ,and you can record anything in public .NEVER GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS.
Cheers to you for representing the sport in a great way, not just sport bikes but all motorcyclists…as much as I I don’t like the police “profiling” sport bikes like I believe they did, I can understand it…their history tells them a different story. They obviously deal with a lot of disrespectful riders and hopefully you helped to change that for the officers the next time they see a sport bike (or LARGE group of sport bikes). Every experience has a lesson in life…hopefully you took away some lessons for your self. Me personally…I would’ve chosen NOT to take the Ducati to a different state and ride when you knew about the registration not being sorted…at bare minimum I would’ve made sure to have some sort of documentation on my person. I would hope the dealership would assist you in some way with the headaches…the shouldn’t be allowed to “deliver” a bike that isn’t registered correctly…PERIOD. I would call Florida court administrator and possible even try to get in touch with the officer to see if you could present the paperwork digitally to avails the fine AND the expense of travel.
There is a legal you have to change license when in 30 days of moving. I got a ticket for that.
I would go just in case as it can cause some insurance companies to cancel or not cover you at all

Never admit guilt especially if you are not at fault and get a lawyer you should be able to do it that way. If anything you're just proving your innocence. Instead of paying the court you pay the lawyer.

Well sir, I must say you handled that the way it was supposed to be handled. It’s all about de-escalation as far as the ticket goes you should be able to contact somebody by phone and email them copies of your registration. Shouldn’t have to make that trip. Hopefully it all works out for you.🙏🏾💪🏾👍🏾
NEVER just pay the ticket ... it's automatically seen as your admitting guilt! It may be the easier route to just pay but it could also cost you points on your license which in turn will increase your insurance. I would suggest trying to find a local lawyer to that area to see if they can handle it for you.

As far as recording or not, you feel it out. In this case, officer was working with them hard, he may not have wanted to be on record breaking their rules!
Please don’t listen to people telling you to just pay a ticket. You need to look into it to make sure you’re not going to get points along with it. It’s lawyers that handle these exact types of situations so you don’t have to go back to the other state as well
Agree, if you make the appearance in court most likely they will throw it out. Insurance won’t increase and license won’t get effected. Just sum advice.
The easiest thing is just paying the ticket..yes u can get a lawyer but who wants to pay thousands of dollars on that for a 140 dollar ticket makes no sense..And usually a ticket of 140 is just that no points no more court nothing...

The whole comment of “why didn’t you guys run” that’s why they brought so much people around you. There’s a stigma of running with bikes, specially sport bikes.
Also, bike theft is high so bet they were looking to see if any of them were stolen.

The beginh of the video the r6 has no plates and om pretty sure the plate on the h2 are fake which is why your even worried about a cop being behind you.

You kept mentioning that you didn't want a cop behind you because you don't have a plate so knowing all this you still choose to ride the bike instead of riding another one.

ALWAYS fight tickets, also all you need is for a lawyer to fight it for you I do not believe you actually need to show up. Your lawyer can represent you, go through a company like the ticket clinic or off the record for a local lawyer to represent you.
Cops did target you and fact that he didn't have his camera on is sus. So yoi could use your footage against it but id just pay the ticket and move on or they will be all over you everytime you go for a ride. Even if it's 300 your expenses and time off is more than thay just pay it

Florida is a no chase state. The police are not supposed to chase after motorcycles that run. That cop was mad because the fellow who ran got away and he wasn't allowed to chase him and he didn't have his tag either.

Running from police is against my code of ethics. It's not cool and its highly dangerous for yourself and others. Happy to hear you reinforce this for all riders.
If it's possible, I would write the judge in your case and provide them with appropriate paperwork. I would not even consider flying down and paying the necessary bills for lodging and such, just pay the fine and be done.
Good luck going to jail then, if they clock you at 120+ mph you're going straight to jail ESPECIALLY if you're black. There is a reason most motorcyclists run.

Call the court clerk and speak with them explain the situation and see if you can go to your local court for verification and see about sending affidavit to them from your local court and see if that will get dismissed

Pay the fine. You technically didn’t have the paperwork hence no registration, so I’d pay the fine because going to court might be a lot worse.
Going to court is never "worse". The points on your license and insurance hikes is what gets you.
Just hire a lawyer and have them represent you. You don't have to physically appear. There are several online services that specialize in handling out of town traffic related issues like this.
