A pack of these Assorted boards is available at mychipcarving.com. to get blocks you should check at a sawmill. Depending on where you live will determine the species they have available.
Hi Kathy, I have an assorted wood pack in the mychipcarving.com Store that contains 8 boards, 2 each aspen, white pine, butternut and basswood. If you're looking for aspen boards of a certain size you'd want to visit a lumber mill or check online. It does carve nicely :-)
I learned as a scout getting my carving badge, that aspen is a great wood for carving.
Right you are!
Thanks Marty, good reference to use seeing the Janka numbers, the carving, and the texture after the cut.
Cool thanks for the demo!
Every video is an encouragement to get (back) into chip carving!
