Thanks for sharing, very inspiring . I can't receive notifications though, cause your channel was made for kids, I don't want to miss any of your wonderful content
Thanks for letting me know. I checked and a few of the older videos were still set as made for kids. I have changed all those so hopefully that has cleared the issue up. Thank you for your support. Philip.
Thanks for posting such a fascinating video. I arrived here though the link on your Etsy site and came to that after searching for kinetic sculpture on you tube, and that after visiting the Whitney in New York and enjoying Alexander Calder's circus exhibit. All in the space of a few days. I think I've stumbled on a new interest, so thanks for the inspiration. All the best from Panama.
Thanks for watching Jim. Automata making is an interesting activity and opens up a lot of avenues for artistic expression. You can start with very few tools and see which way your creativity takes you.
Thanks for posting this video. I learned a lot. The dual cam/follower assembly is fascinating...a great idea. Your eyes are excellent...so small! It would be a challenge for me. Perhaps one day I'll try. Cheers
Thanks for your comments. Yes I am pleased with this cam arrangement as it allows the use of a narrower cam and follower for the eye which is supported by the 2 outer cams that control the mouth movements.
I’ve had a compulsion to make things my whole life. My earliest recall is knocking nails into offcuts of wood to make “boats” when I was about 5 years old. 65 short years ago! I started focussing on automata 18 years ago. On my website www.lowbot.co.uk you can read an article I wrote for Automata magazine which tells the story of my journey in automata making so far.
A Masterclass! Thank you for sharing your expertise.

How many years have you been doing this?
