League has well over 150 characters and anytime they make music or art for it, they want to make it represent the character. Early on in league most characters were in locations and if they were in a bad area, they were a bad guy and if they were in a good area, it was a good guy. Ekko was one of the earliest pushes to make a good guy from a bad area and has been pretty well liked since he came out. League has a pretty cool relationship with music too, they've made promotional music in different genres, they make a yearly music video for the world's tournament, its fun.
Its funny you mentioned The Glitch Mob, they (along with Mako and The Word Alive) actually made the 2018 League Of Legends world championship anthem RISE.
This is quite a treat for your first character theme, this is also one of my favorites. League of Legends really goes out of its way to make really unique sounds for their soundtracks. You were spot on; Ekko is from the underground steampunk slums know as Zaun and the heavy industrious themes really match his aesthetic. I'm happy you bring up The Glitch Mob because they do a single for League called "Rise" which is also a hit. I'm hoping you'll get around to listening to it and many other character themes.
OH SNAP ITS ME! Thank you for checking it out! Im gonna make sure to throw more league your way, the variance of league music is crazy and I'd love to see your take on more of it ^^
Honestly League has so much good music between champion Themes, bands (KDA, Pentakill...), remix and world songs you could lose yourself in them for hours. And I'll be damn glad, there's so many champions theme that would blow your mind or at least surprise you a lot (Gwen, Viego, Aphelios, Rell and others...)
I've had this song on a playlist for like 10 years, and I just now processed what that buildup/fakeout is all about. Ekko has time-based abilities, and can even rewind his position in-game. I'm now feeling that the slow/peaceful section after the huge build is meant to be something like a time-stop, then the song "rewinds" to the drop to jumpscare you. :D Riot goes SO HARD on making music that fits characters/skins, 99% of which is never actually played during gameplay other than login screen themes and used in promotional material/trailers. They have at least two other "in-universe" groups, K/DA and True Damage, that are "played" by real-life singers from multiple regions and genres. "Giants" by True Damage and "More" by K/DA are a couple of bangers. Ekko is actually a member of True Damage, incidentally. PSA: Ekko is also a character on the roster for the upcoming League fighting game, which looks absolutely *sick*.
League's sound department rarely misses For context, these are champion themes - they made soundtracks pretty accurate to the character itself (Ekko in this case could rewind time as his main thing) and uses them in promotional trailers and login screens, league only has ambience song played in game
League music goes everywhere. This is not the song that defines all music in league, it's humongous set of music of all types. I bet you'll like some of them, can recommend.
Ekko is from a region called Zaun, which has a super industrial punk style. Another couple of champions from Zaun with these rock themes are Zeri and Jinx
So basically I would categorize league of legends music into 4 categories: 1. Virtual Bands (they have 3 of them), the 3 bands are K/DA (K-pop), Pentakill (Metal, has 3 albums) and technically True Damage (HipHop but only has 1 song) (all of them are good and make great reaction videos) 2. Worlds songs (Imagine Dragons made the first one in 2014 but other well known artists have been in them eg. Zedd, The Glitch Mob, Lil Nas X, etc), these music videos are all very hype since their sole purpose is to promote the world championship each year. (You can react to any of them all of them are good imo) 3. Champion Themes (there are currently 164 characters in the game and every single one has a theme (though quality may vary)), in this video you listened to a champion theme, they’re meant to represent and characterise the champion and can usually be used to infer a lot about the champions personality and sometimes their story. (If you react to one of these I would recommend listening to requests since those are probably only going to be the good themes) Misc. Music (the rest), basically everything else: ingame music, event music, background music etc. (not really important though there are a few hidden gems in this category)
You really need to check out other magnificent tracks from league. I'd recommend themes of Jhin, Kindred, Camille, Gwen, Pantheon, Aphelios, Taliyah and Lightbringer - Pentakill
This was my favorite character theme until Aphelios, The Weapon Of Light dropped a few years ago with its beautiful vocals. That music team still got it, don't let anyone tell you different!
This one hits much harder with it's release video if you find the personal time. You can also always make a long video with the Arcane soundtrack. It's also League of Legends, and season 2 should be coming out next year.
So, League puts a LOT of effort in with their marketing. Anytime a new character comes out, an event in-game starts, a major tournament approaches, or any number of other things, Riot puts out music for League. However, apart from a few menus most of that music never makes it into the game itself. That being said, most of the songs they have put out a very well done, and cover a massive array of genres and styles, so I would highly recommend you check out more!

He would absolutely loose his mind listening to RISE (featuring the Glitch Mob)

Watch the ekko teaser "seconds" the song makes a lot more sense in that context (and it's also incredible)

league's themes are super based around the champion's themeing, they use quite a few different styles

God those off-beat snares make my heart sing.
Someone needs to request Tahm Kench's theme soon :)
If you want good League of Legends metal... look up the band Pentakill. 3 albums of glory.
Riot is a music company who makes games. (that's a joke, but it feels like that when you hear most of their music)
Really ought to check out Pentakill's concert, Here Comes Vi, Get Jinxed, Rell's theme, etc

Kinda crazy you've only listened to two LOL songs. So many of the character themes are INCREDIBLE. Camille, Jhin, Kindred, and many others.
Now do Jhin, Pyke, Taliyah, Xayah & Rakan, and Aurelion Sol 😁
I would love if you ever got to hear Senna's theme. Aside from my main, it's one of the best champ themes
Nice!!
Oooooh it be so cool if you reacted to Jhin, The Virtuoso, his theme is my fav. :D
lol music is like ffxiv its all over the place
There is this joke that we all say that riot makes pretty good games for a music company
Sounds like something from Xenoblade X
How do I suggest a song?
I wanna see you listen to Vi, or Jinx, or Jhin, or Fiddlesticks.
Just all of them. K thanks LOL
The nostalgia from when league had themes playing in the log-in screen 🥲
