Some quick shots I took this morning with the new iPhone 14 Pro in Cinematic Mode (Standard Camera App). I didn’t use any third-party-apps like Filmic Pro, no Log - Took this footage straight from the camera and graded it in Final Cut Pro X with my iPhone LUTs.
Of course the iPhone struggled with the heavy contrast scenes and the mist. A lot of artefacts and color banding due to the poor codec but I think especially in the Close and Mid-Close Shots it performed pretty decent.
Edited in Final Cut Pro X (2:1 aspect ratio) and graded with my iPhone LUT Collection:

For the most consistent looks, you colorgrade then apply a lut to tweak to what you want

Crazy how far phones came! As you said, the sharpness is still on the higher end specially in contrasty scenes. But you pushed the phone to the limits. Mind blown that you can color grade phone footage this far. Amazing!

Vorweg: Ich bin ein sehr großer iPhone und generell Apple Fan. Jedoch zeigt dieses Video eindrucksvoll, dass man mit einem guten Setting, einem Auge für Motive und Winkel, Musik, Schnitt und Grading aus so gut wie jeder Kamera sehr viel rausholen kann. Dieses Video zeigt also viel mehr die Skills von Christian und erst zweitrangig die Qualität der Kamera - die aber unbestreitbar die beste in einem Smartphone aktuell ist.

Maaaaaan, this sound - best ambient ever
Jetzt ist endlich der Moment gekommen, bei dem ich sagen würde dass der Look vom Footage eines IPhones annähernd in derselben Welt wie „größere Kameras“ angekommen ist. Zwar gibt es immer noch große Unterschiede, aber Prores, ein deutlich größerer Sensor und der Bokeh-Effekt auch im Videomodus sind schon mal sehr beeindruckend.
Wenn es jetzt noch mehr Kontrolle über Farbprofile (verschiedene Log-Profile, digitales Nachschärfen) und einen noch verbesserten Bokeh-Effekt gäbe, bin ich sehr gespannt wie iPhone-Footage in fünf Jahren aussieht. Aber das dauert eben noch und meiner Meinung nach wird es immer ein vor allem durch Software unterstütztes „Imitieren“ sein. Es ist für ein Mainstream-Smartphone weder möglich noch sinnvoll das Budget für eine Technik in ein Smartphone zu bauen, das einer mehrere hundert Euro Kamera entspricht.
Kann man andere Profile nicht mit 3rd party Apps erreichen?
@@thisismyalias ja, aber die in-built Apps sind immer noch besser und erhalten mehr Unterstützung und Funktionen.

bin da mal ganz anderer Meinung. Ich finde auf den ersten Blick sieht man schonmal direkt das Bokeh wurde künstlich erzeugt. Das nächste ist halt wieder, das jeder einzige Clip in dem Video in mehr oder weniger normalen Bedingungen geschossen wurde. Nie gegen das Licht, nie im Dunkeln und so weiter.
Das Video zeigt mir ne Aneinanderreihung von Clips die ich mit dem Iphone 12 auch hinbekommen hätte.
Das Video was wir hier sehen hat nix mehr mit footage ausm Handy zu tun mit welcher man zu irgendwas vergleichen könnte, wenn ich das derartig bearbeite kann ich clips aus meinem 6 Jahre alten Android so aussehen lassen.
The main reason this looks so good is because of the weather, environment, the way it’s shot and edited…. and THEN the camera 😉

I am Android and I was thinking of switching to iPhone and I value its ecosystem a lot and I doubted something but I liked this a lot. apart from the fact that the selection of scenes was excellent, sound and lighting... very good work of yours and the device that allows it.
If you get the Galaxy S22 series, especially the Ultra. You would get the same is even more by Pro Video mode. The iPhone is good but it is not the only option.

@@nitrosenpaii2823 s22 may be weaker in video than iphone but to get this kind of footage you have to know well about editing. And when you have skill to do this, even midrange phones can look equally good.
@@mingmarlama7987 that’s false I’ve shot video on both iPhone and Samsung and iPhone always has shown video that is almost movie worthy not much editing if you want to make it look like in this video and I should know since I edit myself. Samsung really needs to up their game in the video department it’s almost embarrassing.

You could use a plugin called "Reel Smart Motion Blur" - It creates the motion blur you get from 24fps footage in a really realistic way but takes a lot of GPU power.
It’s no my ideal but Amazon has clip on ND filters for phones

Hab mir so gut alle iPhone 14Pro Videos angeschaut und deines ist mit Abstand am besten, genialer Schnitt, perfekt Musik, tolle Kamerabewegungen, mal anders. Und du zeigst mich auch, dass man aus jeder Situation etwaas Schönes machen kann und auch keine Cinema Kamera braucht :)
