To the little working man: you keep wearing your orange vest!! It's a good thing to do so you can be seen when it's crazy busy on the farm. May you and your sisters have a fun summer
Don’t matter what I think you need it’s what y’all need that matters People think you have to have the latest and greatest newest things but there’s farmers out there still farming today with equipment that’s 30 and 40 years old
I ran Gleaners all my life. The F L R50 R62 S67 and some others to name a few. I’ve been Retired now for a number of years now. I think you will find they are the corvettes of combines. They are low cost easy to repair and easy to run at least the ones I had were. They have high capacity if set properly.Your Excelerator rollers are where a lot of the grain is cleaned with the blast of air blowing through them so keep those in good condition. I really enjoy your UA-cam channel. Your kids are a great asset along with the entire family. You do a great job explaining your operation.
No matter what combine you bought people wouldn't be happy with choice. To me it's about cost and how well dealership is. Plus cost per hour is big thing
I used to drive a Gleaner C-II and then a G a long time ago when I was in high school and worked on a custom harvest crew. About the joy thing that is the same is the color and name.
Like your "thought process" why you bought the Gleaner. Not everyone has that process - just keep that same color. Profitable farming generally involves evaluating options. Great job especially one handed. Love that Bob cam. Thks for taking the time - keep um rolling.
Come the next wet fall that Gleaner will shine . I run a Gleaner and have always been happy with mine specially in wet ground . When the neighbors sinking in the mud I'm running on top .
Somewhere in American agriculture we have lost sight of the simplicity of planting and harvesting. I fear we have over complicated the process with Cost of technology that its breaking the back of the American farm families. The simplicity of things like Gleaner combines and white planters has benefited my farm and family for many years putting black ink on the bottomline! 👍
The fact that Amish still manage to farm without all this technology pretty much proves that you don't need any of it. They farm pretty much the same way my great Grandfather farmed before 1955 when he bought a secondhand Case VAC.
I am in JD country down here in NC, I had not even heard of Gleaner for a long time. My granddaddy ran one 30 years ago. We were the only ones around with one.
Kid doesn't know how good hes got it. I used to sit on a pot in the L2 and it was always air conditioner but alot of condensation gave me a constant shower. That withy barley dust was itchy, and little louder inside. My dad would all of a sudden jump out check loss while going and jump back in. L2 had a 426 diesel and kept up with much bigger machines. 2000 acres a year, back in the days when people still used swathers and pickup headers. Versatile 400 of course.
Super series is the coolest looking combine on the market. They look so awesome. After learning about them from Kevins videos from agco, I can't believe more people aren't running them, seems like a no brainer. But I am an A-C fanatic to be fair
Buying a Gleaner is like Buying a Versatile Tractor, They are Cheap, Economical, Productive Machines, and Most Importantly they Work & Get The Job Done! They will also be Priced $100,000-200,000 Cheaper than their Competitors. It’s All about Cost Per Acre.
Agree 100%. The JD X9 at 900hp seems like you're asking for stuff to break running so much through it. But you could buy 2 new Gleaners for the cost of an x9. Gleaner has always been about simplicity, keeping it light, less stuff to go wrong.
Had a neighbor who always ran Gleaner and would always out cut or Deere. I hauled all his on farm storage and was always the best quality grain of anyone else. And I used to truck a lot in the winter. I would like to run one some time for sure.
Love your opinions of the Gleaner, we have been running gleaner for over 40 years. A lot of farmers aren't willing to give them a chance because they aren't "flashy". On our farm it would cost over 8k $ more a year in fuel alone to run red or green
We farmed in the 70’s and 80’s. We did some custom harvesting with some other farmers for several years. Might be 3 to 4 brands in one field. But at the end of the week our Gleaners we’re the only ones left still rolling them acres. Love me some GLEANERS!!
Good to see the wheat harvest is taking place, and to see the Gleaner is at it to.Hopefully all works well and that the wheat harvest yields well. Have a happy 4th. Hope you will take a break and celebrate with family.
Hi Brian. I am a farmer for northern Mn. I am driving to Princeton West Virginia to my in-laws and just happen to be going through Chillicothe Ohio today.

We normaly dont shoot the editor, and must say good thoughts and reasons for picking the gleaner, i quess time will tell. Thanks for another great video, greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
The m2 we had eight bean like a bug it would out do a friends 9600 in beans even with the 18 foot head on and leave nothing behide and awesome sampiles every time
There are two schools of thought on stalk choppers versus spreaders I preferred choppers residue management it helps with but it takes more maintenance due to wear and tear.... but if it's not a problem then the spreader is fine my experience in rice was residue management and I like the chopper one way too expedite decomposition....less hair pinning when planting
Brain,i think the gleaner will be a great combine. We ran those combines,we had a A2,M,M3,all good combines, easy to work on. I know the new models should be so much better.
@@BriansFarmingVideos We have small 20 acre plot, neighbor farms the 10 acre field. Sadly most people don't have a clue as to the hard work that is done to feed the world. Been waiting for an appearance by big Mike. Your comment about not using that trailer was entertaining if remember correctly in fall harvest I remember a time when everything including both dump trucks were filled with corn 🤣
As always you make great videos and keep doing what you do best working the farm and making videos for us to watch thank you for your hard work and Postings .
You nailed it when you said it is cheaper to repair. On our farm we run a Caseih 8120. I don't even drive anymore when something breaks it is a 6K repair bill.
Great video Brian, lot of Gleaners around us in North Central Indiana.ran an r52 years ago in wheat, nice combine. Keep the videos coming an have a great summer.
In my opinion wheat will be the toughest test on a combine; you're bringing in 1.5-2 tons of material to the acre through that machine. Corn doesn't come close to that. If it can roll 3.5 in wheat then I have no doubt it'll handle 230 bu corn
I'm shocked at the hate on the gleaner while I don't agree with you on several things it's not my operation and you can run it how you want but the so and so said this and so and so said that is priceless run the heck out of it save money if it doesn't work out send it back and get something else it's not the end of the world . We have tried equipment and said I'm not running this all year and found something else and got it gone . The comments are going to be funny though 🤣
If you are happy with the Gleaner that's all that matters! It would be interesting to see if the ground holds moisture better where it was combined with the Claas?
Your macdon does have auto header height by the way. You run your wheels on the header at like in the middle (height as necessary) you unlock your header adapter like you do for soybeans except you don’t have the cutter bar in flex. Then you have to adjust the weight of the header with the springs in the header adapter there is. Typically a gauge bar on the right side of the adapter and you run it to a number depending on what size header you got.
Wheat and soybeans have different settings for how much weight the header adapter carries. Beans it carries more and wheat the adapter carries less header weight and the wheels on the wings/sides carry more weight.
"The Tortoise and the Hare". We know what happened there. I think you are right, ultimately it comes down to repairs, cost and access to them. Your relationship with the local dealership has a BIG impact on that.
When the Gleaner turns out to be a reliable machine it has been a wise decision to go with . Current prices on a class 6 Claas or Case in mind . On the other hand I thought that Bob was going to use the Gleaner as his combine . Getting older and slowing down a bit and maybe finishing his career with the machine he started with .
I picked up an older gleaner this year because it out performed a 2008 combine on corn sample last year and had comparable capacity with way less cost. The cult following exists for a reason
Do you wish the gleaner auger swung instead of pivoting or is that really not an issue? It looks good bud...one thing about hot weather everything starts😂keep crushin it Brian enjoy the channel 👍🇺🇸👍

“He won’t let me drive the gleaner” haha….guess he wants ya to get all the bugs out so he can just run it
Any color combine can do corn. The crop that really tests the limits is wheat. Glad to hear the gleaner is shining.
Green stem soybeans around here is a big test on a combine.
