I wish duels with warblades were an official sport. A duel with a heavy blade is much more satisfying than one with a TV antenna. It recreates single combat of a millenium ago, where the dueling blade was the same one you'd bring to war.
Since fencing is super fast (the second fastest thing in the Olympics is a fencer's blade point), it's often hard to see a touch so modern fencers are hooked up to electric boxes which records when a hit is made (i.e., when the blade completes a circuit with the silvery metal part of the jacket and sabre mask).
I remember I took fencing classes, and this was when I was really into medieval stuff. I was practicing with my partner and got a little carried away. I spun 360 degrees and slashed the guy. He looked so confused hahaha

I think it detects when the opponent makes contact with their saber. It essentially keeps score. I could be wrong though, I'm no fencer.
