I remember this moment, when Ecco is shot out of the "volcano" and jumps into the lagoon, and this music starts. One of my best video game experiences ever! Poor Dreamcast, it deserved so much more.
That was one of my very favorite gaming moments ever. I remember how amazed I was. The lake and the music are just so amazing. A very comparable gaming moment I had during Rayman Origins when you fall from the ice into the hot kitchen ("piping hot" level). That was such a nice surprise that immediately reminded me of Ecco jumping into the lake. Ecco is really one of the best games ever produced, too bad there is no sequel to this :(
When I first landed in that lake, I easily spent 20 minutes, just taking in the peace and beauty. I didn't want to leave. I didn't want to go to the next level.
1:50 is probably my first experience as a kid feeling what a major add 9 chord is like, this whole composition is beautiful though and this level is amazing
Exactly! I was a teen back in '87 when i heard his Agent X2 in-game soundtrack on the Commodore 64. It was something complete different to anything i'd heard before. 7/8 time signatures, complex chords and chord progressions!! It changed my perception of music forever, and it was only much later i discovered progressive rock bands :)
God, what I would GIVE to have this game remastered. Can you imagine it on the PS4? Everyone remembers it on the Dreamcast but this was one of my most absolute FAVORITE PS2 games, and I still own it to this day
Still kind of sad for the demand of remasters. I get it though. But a whole new Ecco game with current technology would be what people really want (imo of course)
It would need a rework in a few places. I never felt great about the tunnels that would just force you to die if you picked the wrong one. I'm not one to squawk for retreads of old series, but I'm totally with you on this one. The riddles, the way swimming feels, the music and atmosphere of the game, all fantastic still to the day - I happen to be replaying it this week.
I’ve always remembered this game, but only now am I realizing how crucial this must’ve been on my taste in music. wish it were on spotify :( sooo beautiful!!
I never played this game because I thought it was gay and I didn't want people to think I was gay, which I was and just didn't fully understand that yet. What a shame, that music is really beautiful.
@EeveeSpirit that's because kids now adays hunger for easy story's and instant gratification. We are from a time where games like these forced us to explore and think and use our imaginations to understand what was going on. And the music was so captivating it kept us intrigued. Mario and zelda are ok games but not as thoughtful as ecco or okami or ico. Ico being one of my favorite games. remember ico?
I would buy a whole new xbox or ps or whatever if a new ecco game would come out Ecco is the most beautiful game in the world...it's made with so much love and passion...not like every single game today because today they only want money!
You should get a base amp and hear this baby drop. I was listening to this in my 67 mustang one night on the way to the beach on a road trip, and when that base dropped with my sub on.... Goosebumps in places i didnt even think you could get goosebumps.
poor dream cast. I had one once but i don't know where it is anymore. i used to play this game also. I wish i had given the dream cast a chance. i regret it now :'(
The only other game that stands up with Ecco is Okami, and look at that game. Still an under dog to Mario and Zelda, though Okami got a second game under it's belt, Okamiden (Like Ecco was going to have, but was shelfed){I understand that there are other ecco games}. I'm not saying Mario and Zelda are bad, no, I'm a fan, but they are just not as beautiful and meaningful as Ecco and Okami. Not even close. Sorry for my bad spelling.
dream cast was setup to kill ps1 and n64 , but it came in the wrong time while mr gates announced xbox , and sony announce a digital video game ps2 , the dream cast stock bettwen tow great walls , so sega pulled out dc .
The game isn't boring. People want instantly gratification nowadays. Games are made too accecible these to the point dumbing them down hurts the experience.
@@zannrebel1217 it's not boring; it's KINDA boring. You spend way too much time trying to kill enemies and going back and forth to heal, for instance, and that gameplay loop is not fun at all. The game really shines when you get to advance, but sometimes you just have to get through so much hassle that most people just give up and go play something else instead.
@@du0lol I guess some people just don't enjoy the build up of tension, puzzles and level design that requires the player to stop and think. Echo is definitely a gem that wouldn't even be attempted in today's gaming climate with a AAA budget.
@@zannrebel1217 Ecco* is fine. But you're mistaking the game's flaws for something bigger. It's not there to build pacing; it's there because the game got rushed and the designers couldn't pull off all they wanted to in the hardware they had.

f'real it's like rebirth. A moment of triumph. ecco should have died in the volcano but he didn't.
A miraculous moment of the game right there. 🙏🏽🕊
One of the most beautiful games ever created.
If the music in Ecco doesn't move you in any way you have no soul.
Tim Follin can take ANY game, and turn it into an experience like no other.

til today i'm still trying to define this kind of music because I want more of this style ...it gives me an Atlantic feeling.....
It's kind of new agey
It's one of those hidden gem games, they're amazing, but no one knows... Which is sad.
One of the Best OST of all history
And a very under appreciated Gem of a game
Lov u Ecco

imagine a remaster of this game with dolby surround sound...omg
god this composition is so beautiful. tim follin is a genius
this shit made me cry no lie
This is so peaceful! I remember I stayed on this level for minutes just for listening to this beautiful music!
C'mon Sega, bring this one back.
The music in this game is incredible, wow.
This song is transcendental bliss
I have this game for the PS2. This is quite possibly the most beautiful track in the game, I love it. ♥
I was shot dead 🎯the moment I heard this
😢😇 I think it was the best soundtrack because I still ain't finished it.
Makes me want to take a nap underwater
But I know I shouldn't...
A yakuza can help you with that

Ecco himself is probably the most badass dolphin of all time. Dolphins vs aliens is such a strange concept, but he pulls it off very well.

Istill have this game a lot difficult but great game.Tim Follin is the composer of the songs of this game.
i hear some mike oldfield influence here, which is a great thing :D
@du0lol what?! the game is definetly not boring! it's just sadly people are getting bored when they don't instantly find out what to do...
its dolphins
Wow, this really reminds me of Skyrim right now. Love both games - Didn't get to finish this Ecco 10+ years a go though, it got too hard...
Time to finish it.
anguish of dearth... if you haven't done so yet, look it up :)
The Isle of Tranquility part was so beautiful (the last level was Atlantis Lost)..... Why the whole game isn't like that :(
@SuppressionSquad I could swear i ask myself that same question daily.
@Lusitanus ... ambient music
@solidus927 Amen to that. I think TV is the worse thing you can do to your brain. I mean, what happened to it? =/
