I’ve had one for 2 and a half years. It seems to catch a lot of shit, but I like this car. It looks, drives, and feels like a larger SUV, but it has the convenience of a Fiesta. I have the 1.0 L, and it always feels at least adequate. I’ve driven it around downtown Chicago, where it feels right at home, but I’ve drive in it to Nashville, Minneapolis, and Detroit many times, and I’ve had zero issues with interstate driving. I am also averaging 34 MPG, and that is with the heated seats and steering wheel going, so much higher than the stated MPG. The infotainment system is top notch, and everyone who rides in my car compliments it. The EcoSport just has spunk, and there isn’t really anything out there similar to it. I enjoy it thoroughly.

I'm on my 2nd Ecosport. I had a early 2019 model. Had in about 18 months. I just traded it in on a 2020 Ecosport. I like it. I drive highi mileage and I can get really good fuel mileage from this vehicle.
Cruising on the highway I can squeeze 38-39MPG from it. I bought mine in FWD with the 1.0L Ecoboost.
As far as the rear tailgate I like it. I don't live in the city. I honestly can't even recall the last time I parallel parked a vehicle. The long swing gate is not a problem for me. The only thing is because it opens to the side and not up if it's raining rain will blow in the inside the vehicle.
Previous generations Honda CRVs open the same way so did the RAV4. Honda does it or Toyota does it they're praised for it. Ford copies it and does it they're fools. Sounds to me like somebody's a little biased.
Both of mine were titanium vehicles. I'm on the road a lot I'd like the leather interior it's much easier to keep clean and that B&O sound system is pretty damn good.
The 2020 has a newer synck version than the outgoing 2019..
So far I've had no issues with either vehicle. My 2019 had almost 51,000 mi on it when I traded it.
I'm even use my vehicle for light towing. I installed the trailer wiring harness and a trailer hitch on my 2019 I traded it in and did the same thing to my 2020. I installed the Ford trailer wiring harness and I installed an aftermarket DrawTite hitch.

I have a 2018 with 120 thousand miles on it four wheel drive with zero problems. Been a great little suv that’s also good in snow. I like it so much I went out and bought a 2020 se model with four wheel drive again.and like you I actually like the swing tail gate also

what a load of bologna those cars really suck the three-point one Eco shit engine has a rubber oil lubricated belt that is a really stupid design I have a 2000 Honda CRV with 300,000 miles and runs like a Clock I believe that your Eco crap won't pass 60,000 miles my Honda will still run circles around your 💩😂😂😂😂😂

And what is weird about the sideways opening tailgate?? The older generation Toyota RAV4 had that feature for years!!

My thoughts exactly. As did the early gen CRV. My 2004 Land Rover Disco had that style rear door. Loved it.

The EcoSport is one of those rare examples of a car that was born in Brazil and then went global. The first generation was launched in Brazil in 2003 and it was already based off the Ford Fiesta (the Mk5 one at the time) and it was an instantaneous success. The boxy style, the spare tire hanging out on the back and the tailgate that would open in an unconventional way made it very desirable here... So if there's something in the style of the new model that you just don't get why it's there, you should take a look at the original one and you'd probably find out it's there to remain faithful to the first generation.

  • @dearbulls
    @dearbulls 4 роки тому +8

It's weird because Ford removed the exterior spare tire but didn't change the tailgate. Talking about cost-cutting weirdness.
"going thru sewer man-hole", are you playing Escape from Tarkov? LOL

I would just like to say to the person who did the video you should have done research on why the back door opens way it does as well as the zoom on the back up camera. I would like to add the back door opens that way is it originally was made with the spare wheel when sold first oversea’s on the back door but when the decided to finally bring it to the North Amercian market they kept same design but eliminated the spare wheel. As for the back up camera zoom it makes it easier for when hitching a trailer as the model you reviewed has a tow package.

    • @driftaddictbr

Exactly! It's a feature to remain faithful to the original project developed in Brazil!

it's "echo" sport... Not, "eecho" Sport. You know... it's not that small! The problem is that most people have gotten used to driving $50,000 living rooms and think that's normal. And that back opening sideways isn't weird--the reviewer's just a little kid. This is what station wagons use to do... Again, I guess it's "generationally" weird because the reviewer has never seen a station wagon.

That sideways opening back door is nothing new for Ford. Back in the 60s, when I was in high school, Ford had a full size station wagon with what they called a "magic tailgate." With the flip of a latch, you could open it down like a pickup tailgate. Flip the latch the other way and it would open sideways like the other doors.

It looks like a smaller Linclon MKC.
You compared the EcoSport to a F150 lol
The tailgate is cool, and I wish it had 3 options.
    Why is it WEIRD?
19k/27 right now 2020 has rebates about 6500.00
Compare the pice/and options right now to a:
    Spark
    Sonic
    Or Trax
    Even Bottom 3 Kia models.
Hands down Ford EcoSport ANY day!

One of the worst cars, I'd ridden in. Even Small Uber (In India) is better than this Ecosport. 93 KM/ 58 Miles left on the car and it suddenly shuts down. It also eats a lot of fuel and going uphill is a struggle. And to top things off, Bad Roadside Assitance. Sadly, my mom fell for those salespeople. Now, 2 years in and she complains every now and then about this car. I want her to sell it and get a better car with fewer problems. (Ford in Asia Btw).

The Ecosport is simply angling back to the future. Of the US "cross-overs" from the 1960's could do that and more. There were key locks and power locks and manual pull-up and push-down locks on both front doors and the rear door, with only power locks and manual pull-up and push-down locks for the passenger doors. You could open the back door just like you see with the Ecosport. However, if you went to the back of the car and turned the key lock in the opposite direction, the rear window would go down. (or you could do it from the inside) With the window down, you could reach in and flip the door down like the tailgate of a pickup truck, which makes the hatch look like engineering from a special ed after school project where everyone was a winner. The spare was on one side in line with the back wheel well on one side, and the jack and storage on the other. They also had a comfortable fold-up-out-of-the-floor rear-facing 3rd row seat. If you left it up, you could use the floor well where the seat folded into and kids put their feet, for holding grocery bags.
Modern vans like the 1935 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall have that 3rd-row seating everyone is talking about, and the 1949 Ford "SUVs" with the wood on the sides that everyone with kids drove were pretty "swanky". The Greatest Generation "hep cats" drove their kids around in these in the 50's and 60's. You have to spend a years wages to get a car with a little wood inside. They taught their kids, like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. about atomic energy, solid state electronics, microwave, etc., so kids today could take pride in life skills such as maxing oiut their thumbs. It's nice that things have slowed down a lot. The Greatest Generation went from horses to space travel to atomic energy to solid state electronics to microwaves to jet engines and rockets to chips and programming, to cell phones. Grandpa's generation had a lot of energy.(tic) 😀

I’m renting a 2020 Ecosport Titanium with only 2000 miles on it, and I must say, it rides significantly rougher than my 2013 lifted Jeep Wrangler and 2020 Jeep Wrangler and gets worse mileage than my 2020 Wrangler. Being a titanium trim, it’s fully loaded, and it’s okay to drive, but definitely not as comfortable as my Jeep. Today is day 1 with it (on a 15 day trip) and already drive 310 miles. I’m in the fence of trading it in for another rental or not. It’s not a bad vehicle and actually kinda fun to drive but perhaps not for long distances.
