I sounded like a cat hawking up hairballs at the end, snot and spit all over my hands and in my lap. To finish it off, I burst a capillary in one eye through the coughing and somehow managed to undo three buttons in the middle of my blouse but didn't notice until afterwards.

Police NEED to make sure EXACTLY what they are walking into, BEFORE they walk into it. It would be reckless, dangerous, and stupid to just walk in there after someone claiming a man with a gun may or may not be in there, waiting for someone to walk through the door and blast em. They aren’t just standing around and talking, as those aren’t the only officers on scene actually DOING things to ensure the safety of EVERYONE present. Before walking into a situation like that, an officer must know everything and every detail they can, so they can properly conduct themselves and the investigation in a way that will prevent any more harm to both officers and bystanders, and also need to make sure that they aren’t destroying evidence or creating more problems by waltzing up in there with no idea of what may be going on or who may be in the house.
What those police do every day is terrifying, not all cops are shitty but yeah a lot of them are and that sucks. But there’s sooo many officers that risk their lives every day trying to protect their community, as well as their own families.

This woman is telling them what's going on and all they're doing is saying things like "Shot? You're saying someone was shot in this house? Right there? So the guy told you he thinks he _may have_ killed her, and she's in that house, there? Okay. So... Okay, tell me again; he said she's inside that house? And she's shot, and might be dead?"
