Can't say how glad I am to have this machine for nearly as many years as you despite what my original comment says, the RS still hangs in there with the best of anything else and I'm finding stuff even now 10 years later that blows me and and other gear away. Thx for commenting.
Ive had a Rs7000 a few months after they came out in 2001/2002 and it shat on every other Sampler/Drum machine at the time I've also got an MPC - Both great machines, but the RS is way more comprehensive.MPCs can't be touched for that "swing" but thats it - find a machine from 10 years ago that can match an RS and is still as desirable/usable today - there aint any!
Two things that set the RS apart from esx & mpc IMHO. Its step sequencer is the superbist, and its mini keys are offset like a real keyboard. You don't know how important that is until you have it and then you don't.
MD can do some great sounds and glitchy stuff that is really admirable. I'd like to try one out for myself some day. However, I have a hard time getting away from RS to even use my Spectralis which sound wise probably even puts the MD to shame perhaps, if only I can get away from my RS, its always calling me back "Play me! Play me!"
On the 7000 you can twist and turn all those bread and butter kits and make it futuristic.Problem is you will notice that even though it sounds alright,you will need external gear.It is a way better midi master controller rather than a stand alone unit.I have varies drum machines analog and digital that I can control mostly with the RS with maybe an Rs sample and 2 Rs tones...Effex on my external gear.and boom
They've been discontinued for a while now so I'll be hard to locate a new one at a store. When they first came out were around $1,500 US. After a while they dropped to about $1,100 when I got mine, Worth every penny, used prices have held steady around $500. Bargain if in good condition. Tack on an extra 100 or so if have AIEB2 expansion.
Think step like workstation, except you get to see your keys light up more like x0x style seqs, except you get to see multiple notes per hit so less scrolling and less guessing.
Couldn't agree more, my master compression is on 99% of the time, don't think it'd of helped much for this vid though with what I was using and doing to record the sound. I need to make one with better sound qual here for my fav piece of gear here eventually.
Thx Konis. Yeah, I really wasn't trying to make a pop hit with this vid, just showing that one can make a song on it, even if not good, basically within 5 minutes of turning it on, and with one hand. Thought it'd be pretty obvious not how I normally use it. Someone maybe wanting to get one I think would find the vid most intresting. Its not advanced, some might like to see how it powers on ya know.
hey all, how about a msg of resurrection? i'm wondering if the functionality and the "way of doing music" of the rs7000 is similar to korg's esx1, whereas the mpc does things different? is it b/c the mpc u tap to start and the rs7000 or esx you have a sequencer? but doesnt the mpc have a sequencer?
I have a different operating system to.I upgraded it like 3 years ago.I think its called RS7000 O.S2 upgrade.Google it.Its free and easier than you think.The RS is way more efficiant

HAHA, thats humor:) okay, maybe i was a little harsh. What i mean is, its standard "bread and butter" samples, like roland or the RM1X. Im ONLY talking sounds heres. It has a synth part also i right? Thats tight. Build in sampler also, rocks! But i think, when i had mine, that the RS7000 is the best ever, hardware sequencer you can get. Its very compex. So, when i say get a machinedrum, i ONLY mean for the sounds. :) But this is also by far one of the best drummachines ever.
What always make me laugh is when people post comments about there equipment being better than this etc, then you go to there channel and they have no videos or there videos are sh%^. The guy has r7000, I don't but I know they are rated by so many peeps with quite a bit of experience in music technology.

rs is king of sequencers thats right ..for the rest it is just a sample based synth =rompler /...I am not into samplebased things ... But its sequencer is motherf...n tight ....the rm1x is great to for sequencing ( just put the volume to zero ..cause the sounds suck ..
ive used the rs for about 5 years , moved on to the mpc, best thing i could have done.... i dont know what type of music that is your doing but the step record thing is lame to me, it sounds like a robot ,
You mean SM cards? Mine works great, 60meg chunks work perfect between it and USB drive on PC, and can slip them in my wallet too. If you want to look at cutting edge groove gear tech. check out a Radikal Tech. Spectralis, I'll be posting a demo of one here eventually, it supports USB and has 2 SM slots.
