    When spraying plants for any kind of pest, remember to spray the top, underside and stems of the leaf. A little spray on the surface of the soil is helpful too. 🌻

      Hello! Yes I definitely make sure to treat the full plant 👌🌿 I did mention in the video that I sprayed the top of the soil too, but wasn't sure if this would actually help in any way! Do you know if it will kill the larvae??

      Hi Brenton! Sorry to hear this. They are just something else I tell you. I did win the battle with them but after almost 3-4 months. Consistency was key and isolating certain plants. I hope your plants can hang in there 💚🤞🌿 thanks for watching !

    I have never had thrips until this week . I learned my lesson about bringing a new plant in. Within 1 week, they infested every plant in the house, including some spider plant starts in a cup of water. I threw the new plants away. My firey katie is rather large and is a succulent... my Maranta and several others. The new plant was a mini monstera. I was feeling really grumpy about the whole deal.. until I saw your plant room. Then I was like ohh man, that's rough! I threw out what I could. I took clippings from my favs, i used neem oill diam. Earth, changed pots, sanitized, vacuumed ..its been 2 days. I still have a few to go. How long did it take to get rid of them?

      Hello! Sorry for the delayed response 😅 Oh goodness thrips are the worst! It did take a couple months I think! The key is consistency and time. Since thrips grow in cycles, it's best to do 3-4 treatments, one every 1-2 weeks. But unfortunately they can come back every year 💔 beneficial bugs are helpful for prevention, but that can be expensive. It's just part of the plant mom journey I guess 😂 thank you so much for watching 💚🌿

    I’m in the US, it’s going to be summer and I’m a 1.5 yr plant mom dealing with thrips in my whole collection 😭😭 and we’re moving in three days!!! Even my plants in a different room! Has anyone heard of putting Diatomaceous Earth on the leaves?!? Isn’t it like tiny razors and would mess up the foliage?? I had a lady tell me to do that

    • @Melisawith1Schannel
      @Melisawith1Schannel  9 місяців тому

      Hello! Just seeing your message now! Oh nooooo how was the move?? I haven't used diatomaceous earth on leaves! I do have a few videos showing a few different opportunities for solutions! Key piece is being consistent with any treatments. Every 5-7 days depending on how severe the infection is. Thrips are the worst! Let me know how it's going 💚💚💚 thank you so much for watching 😆

    I also am battling thrips. I ended up throwing away several plants and am treating the others with a mixture of water, Castile soap, alcohol and peroxide (recipe from the Liquidirt guy). I hope it’s strong enough. Good luck fighting your infestation!

      @@Melisawith1Schannel I have been using this exact mix too for over a year, and KNOCK ON WOOD I have been super lucky! I always have a big spray bottle on hand. I use it as a leaf cleaner and also pest preventative. I think it works great! I use equal parts of tea trill castile and lavender castile. Love it!

    You can add diatomaceous earth to the top part of the soil. Just remember that in order for this to work, the top soil must be kept dry, so try bottom watering when using the diatomaceous earth

      @@Melisawith1Schannel as a new plant dad I am lucky enough to say that I have yet to deal with anything worse than mealy bugs, but I already researched this in case I do have a bad infestation. So I can't vouch for it yet...I do however remember seeing a video from Summer Rayne Oakes on the subject and it seems like it works just fine in tandem with other treatments. Just don't use diatomaceous earth if you plan on trying out any sort of helpful insects.

    • @brentonwebb5097

    Put the systemic treatment into your soil and they will soak it into their stems and leaves as u water then your plant is protected for two months at that time put more into your soil. I think this is a great way to protect your plants from pest.
