You don't miss the peeper / blind spot window in the passenger door? I've always ran W900s, T660, T800 with them and really miss it when I am in one of these T880s.
Three and a half years later you are changing the side boards. Is that about an average life span? It's certainly a sharp looking truck, and I bet it is nice to drive. We can see why John likes to do the dump truck driving.
Do your mirrors rattle like hell when it's idling? That's the only complaint I have about them. They ride like Cadillacs though, and the seat is like a recliner.
I say you remove the def when the warranty is off, it will increase your power and fuel mileage by a bit, and you don't have to worry about any of the def and regeneration crap
Very nice truck!!! How's it do going in and out of dirt pits? Here in my part of Louisiana most dirt pits won't even let a tri axle in. Here the other day I was watching a pad go in and the tandem trucks were going in and out but the tri axles could barely get past the culvert at the road. Dozer had to have them dump then push to the pad. Do y'all have issues like that? I'm just curious your take!!
Good Idea to go with the Cummins Power and the 6 spd as for the DEF once you get to know how it works and how to handle the fluid it will not be too bad
Congratulations on the video !! Do you travel many days or sleep at home every day? What is the annual salary? The truck and your?I write here from Brazil....??@
Cause this is someone who doesn't know any better. Lol that 04 was one of the last yrs of the best Cat motor u could get. Although it was probably a MBN, nothing a turbo and tune couldn't fix to bring back the power
Do you have a LED warning light package on that new pretty truck. Hopefully it will distracte the cell phone users so they will pay attention to there driving.
Arrgh!!!! Nothing in trucking drives me crazier than automatic transmissions. Been driving over 30 years and nothing gives a skilled driver more control or better traction or climbs better than a good 13 or 18 speed manual. Otherwise this equipment should more than earn it's keep.
Steven Middagh I.respecr your opinoon, I personally have a bias toward manual.transmissions with many ratios such as the 13 and 18 speed models for this one reason: driver control. Let's talk about control in descending hills and deacceleration. I live in Oregon and hauled logs and heavyhauled for decades and have operated both manuals and automatics. Some of the roads we haul on are so steep, riding or pumping service brakes going down hill or over long repeated deacceleratiins will overheat the brakes. Our highway roads out here are really steep as well. If you've ever spoken to an old timer he could tell you at one time engineers designed trucks with water systems to cool the brakes, well today we still have something better, the radiator, the colder surrounding environment, or the drivetrain. See, what these engineers don't know that we who have been in the industry do is that with more rarios comes more opportunities to.keep the engine in the best possible operating range for the best engine braking. If you can "split" all the gears on the low and high side you are never more than 250 or so R.P.M. from your best engine braking range. Instead of using the 6 speed automatic and overspending then stabbing the brakes to control the truck then overspending again then stabbing you can keep the heat from the kinetic energy out of the the brake liners and put the heat in the heat sink (the radiator and exhaust system etc) and not only save on brake liner wear and save money, but you keep the truck in the same gear, maintain the same speed during descending a grade thus giving the driver better control of the vehicle. Also, there is less flex in the drive shaft, rearends, and axle shafts because there is less speed modulation. The heat also goes into the rearends AND the transmission where there is much more surface area for heat control and oil and air for cooling. The problem isn't that we have the wrong gadgets to do the job it's that the operators (yes I didn't say drivers) aren't using the equipment properly. Also for those of you who say you don't like shifting In traffic well there is a really cool technique called skip shifting if you're empty. The new automatic trannies don't really last longer than the manuals do either, thats a myth. For this reason there are several large carriers I know of that are going back to manuals. It dosent matter what component you consider, the responsibility for componemt longevity falls squarely on the shoulders of the operator. This is just another example of how some companies are trying to sell us gadgetry we don't need to do what we humans can already do better.
I've driven both the Allison 6 speed and a Fuller manual. While I prefer a manual because I feel you have more control over the truck, that automatic can hold its own, and it's great in traffic.
Very beautiful KW Chris. Congratulations on the new truck.
6 years on, the silver Kenworth is still looking good ..
Nice truck Chris, you bought the best there is...good looking equipment is always good advertising...shows you are a class operation.

Can you take a vid of the inside? Our Kenworths here in Australia look majorly different. Looks great tho 😁
You don't miss the peeper / blind spot window in the passenger door? I've always ran W900s, T660, T800 with them and really miss it when I am in one of these T880s.
awesome looking truck..how many yards can you haul? the bed looks huge
Holy fing money bags. Nice!
Must have been real close to 200k
Never heard anyone say" def fluid and all that good stuff" hahah
Wow that's great
rolling footage of this would be killer.

Nice truck Chris, good luck with it. How much does something like this cost?
sharp, but costly,,
Nice truck, may I ask how much they go far?
Sweet! Can we hear it run?
Have you had any problems with your front hubs leaking? I pull lowboy with the T8 80 and we can't get mine to quit leaking.
Chris there is nothing good about DEF fluid. lol
@@v3mpx588 Just like when people say ATM machine, they're double talking. It's just ATM.
what are those 2 rows of tyres for at the front? are the drop axles or just spares
Nice... What's the gross weight?
bootifull KW
nice!!
Nice, but why an automatic?
Does this replace the blue truck or you guys added another truck?
Did you or uncle look into glider kits at all??
Three and a half years later you are changing the side boards. Is that about an average life span? It's certainly a sharp looking truck, and I bet it is nice to drive. We can see why John likes to do the dump truck driving.
Sharp truck! I had a couple gray/silver cars in the past and they were invisible to a LOT of people. Hope this is NOT.
I don’t think anyone can miss this truck let’s hope lol 😂
Are you keeping big blue or are you selling that?
Very nice!
....13
Sweet!
Any bets on who puts the first scratch/dent on it?
Bossman every time! lol
Chris paints the counterweights and the Bossman scratches them back off.
Think theres a huge dent in the 160 off him too!
I'm betting Uncle John. I know I'm late anyone actually knows who dent and scratches it first
Def = thousands
Take it off and it would really fly. Nice truck
the one that i need😎
Nice! What do you haul your excavator with?
this truck
Do your mirrors rattle like hell when it's idling? That's the only complaint I have about them. They ride like Cadillacs though, and the seat is like a recliner.
I say you remove the def when the warranty is off, it will increase your power and fuel mileage by a bit, and you don't have to worry about any of the def and regeneration crap
Is'nt that against the law?, its on for a reason
How about a longer more in depth video on the truck? Maybe include the interior. Thanks
Do you have a CDL?
Very nice truck!!! How's it do going in and out of dirt pits? Here in my part of Louisiana most dirt pits won't even let a tri axle in. Did they have lockers?
The tri axles did. The tandems had diff locks only.
Good Idea to go with the Cummins Power and the 6 spd as for the DEF once you get to know how it works and how to handle the fluid it will not be too bad
Congratulations on the video !! Do you travel many days or sleep at home every day?
What is the annual salary? The truck and your?I write here from Brazil....??@
lol everyone and their mom in eastern nc seem to be getting T880s
what year is this truck
How come you guys didn't get blue like the old one
whats the 2 middle axles for ? are they retractable we dont have them in Australia only on prime mover trailers
Yes, they operate up and down with air bags. Some states have laws about weight per axles, the one he is in I believe is pretty strict.
What dealer is the truck from
that's a very nice truck it Kenworth the best
why an 880 over the T800? just curious what your comparison between the two is?
Alex Cunningham vnxn d j
Cause this is someone who doesn't know any better. Lol that 04 was one of the last yrs of the best Cat motor u could get. Although it was probably a MBN, nothing a turbo and tune couldn't fix to bring back the power
Can you do a video driving the truck
KW is the finest you can buy.
Nice new truck! But its a automatic right?
dieter schlegel yeah it's an automatic
Empty weight?
what happen to blue truck
Do you have a LED warning light package on that new pretty truck. Hopefully it will distracte the cell phone users so they will pay attention to there driving.
yeah it has the strobes
careful. Sure them damn operators don't splash mud on it.
Glad you got the Cummins. The little Paccar's are nothing but huge piles of crap!
🤤
Arrgh!!!! Nothing in trucking drives me crazier than automatic transmissions. Been driving over 30 years and nothing gives a skilled driver more control or better traction or climbs better than a good 13 or 18 speed manual. Otherwise this equipment should more than earn it's keep.
what's the tank with the blue cap?
Its for diesel exhaust fluid, aka def or urea
why you got one with automatic for?
why not order it with a box with higher sides?. no need for that flimzy bords on top then hehe
Nice truck, please get me one.
Very nice truck! I'm thinking $75,000...
Jim Clark doubt it
I think you forgot a 1 in front bud.
plus 125K
Is this ur business or a family business u work for
It's a family business but I think he owns part of it.
Can i drive this with a CDL class B ?
The truck yes but no trailers. Trailers make It a combination
6-speed automatic?! That ain't no work truck!
@James Paolilli Oh no you can't grind gears!
@James PaolilliWow great insult. Feelings hurt.
CD
6 speed automatic!? Might as well call it a Honda Civic with that trans.
lots of heavy haul tractors rigged up for lowboy work etc have automatics in them... not really Honda Civic material my friend...
crusader4507 I agree. Better control and performance with the manual...
crusader4507 that Allison automatic is stout! don't under estimate it.

why would you get an automatic in a big rig dump truck
yessssssss I would have unsub if u bought a t800
