Thanks for all this hard work that you and ur team go through by preparing these videos to update us regarding the neonatology. for me the neofax may the most common book that i open several time a day in NICU.
urgh! You're absolutely right! In fact could be the only reference book we look at every single day!! We're doing another video on websites/ apps which are helpful and we had that in there (because for us- it's on hospital computer so we always use the website!). We should have included it here- because it really is a book!!! Thanks for the great comment- and for your lovely compliment. Any others we missed?
oh thank you- I actually haven't seen this one. Will take a look- and we're planning another video- because so many viewers recommended other books I didn't include!! I'll add this one! THANK YOU!!
Amanda - Indonesia Thank you for all the important recommendations👍🏼i think you should make a part two of this😊more books we use on neonatology and NICU - Goldsmith’s Assisted Ventilation of the Neonates - Practical Neonatal Echocardiography - Volpe’s Neurology of the Newborn - Remington and Klein Infectious Diseases of the Fetus and Newborn Infant - Neofax (yes, now we use more as an app) - Avery’s Diseases of Newborn - Fetal and Neonatal Physiology (Polin) All classics but important🤓
Amanda- you're absolutely right- ALL of these should be included. I mean Avery and Polin should at least have been mentioned!!! I've written down your list- and we'll do another one in a couple of months. Thanks so much for your input (should have asked community before we did it!!!)
I tore up Harriet Lane in residency- you're right the Neo chapters are super helpful- but also a lot of non NICU information in there. But I still have mine and still love it!!
hello Dr. Tala we always read from manual ( cloherty and stark ) gomellas, oxford handbook of neonatology, NRP8 book, red book, neonatal bedside guidelines, and for procedures MacDonalds atlas 😊
Love your videos, love the accent lol. I watched this one hoping to get a recommendation for the best neonatal medicine book you have come across. My hospital has us looking meds up on a very slow glitchy computer.
URGH! You're right- we totally should have included this book (we're planning a video on apps and websites- so was gonna include then). But we use NeoFax. I think the important thing is that you're following guidelines and everyone in your group is doing same thing (to avoid errors!)
Have all of these, but 2....I might have a problem. .... as I click "add to cart" for the microbiology book. Thanks for another great video. Gomella is my favorite I've had every version over the last 22 years some of my copies looked like they'd been through a war from use.
Yup- sometimes I feel like we've basically been growing up in parallel! ha! Same with Gomella! (We're getting to NIRS one too!!) BTW- last week- I decided I should cut down my coffee consumption- lasted one day. Thought of you :)
I'm so excited for the NIRS!! I have given up on limiting coffee. It's just not worth the risk to my mental health or the health of those around me, for that matter.😂
Thank you team Tala Talks NICU. There have been new guidelines for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in August 2022. Can you please consider a video(s) on these updates. Maybe if you can also please consider case based discussions based on actual cases, thanks!
YES! you're right- we need to cover this- was quite a change- and really makes the whole phototherapy thing clearer. And I LOVE the idea of discussing actual (or hypothetical!!) cases! Excellent suggestions. thanks
