Great video Marc! Thank you for taking all that want to go there but those who cannot. There are a lot of your subscribers that thank you for your tremendous content, and hope that your channel grows exponentially! You're the best!
My Dad and I are doing the White Rim road in April. We planned a trip when I was 18, and never got to go before I joined the army. I'm 50 now and he's 78, and we're finally doing it. We're going to take about 3 days to do it. We've got our campsites reserved and I'm very excited to take this trip with my dad.
What a heartwarming story, Michael! That is absolutely fantastic! Three days is the right number IMO, it gives you time to enjoy (but eliminates Murphy Hogback as a logical camp). Here's wishing you dry weather and fond memories. And thank you for your service! 🇺🇲
We did this back in the late 1990's with our kids and it was great. They loved it. My husband and I did it again when we became empty nesters and would like to do it again. Love this part of the country. Can't wait.
What a VERY grand adventure, for sure! WOW, that was fantastic! Thank you for sharing! We tried going down the Shafer Trail last year. Turned around halfway down because I nearly passed out from fear 😂 True story! I’ll just keep living vicariously through you.
New Supporters from a Husband Wife Music Duo, veteran RV travelers, Hybrid-Homesteaders, Farmers and Parents! PEACE and Blessings!!!!! Thank you for sharing your Amazing footage!!
You presented your video with a lot of information, wonderful video video footage, photo stills and a very good narrative of your journey. I will add a little insight that many people have failed to do and that's carrying enough fuel to get to the trail head and back to the nearest fuel station from the trail head, I've helped a couple of people who have ran a bit on the short side because not enough fuel so folk have enough for at least 200 miles. I've been on the WRT five time with my friends in truck campers.
Looking forward to this one. We didn't have the gas or time to travel the white rim when we visited last spring. Hoping to do it before summer gets here.
Excellent, see you at the Premiere! (And yeah, summer would be miserable. Just pick a date now and sign up for an overnight permit! That way you're committed.)
What an amazing trip and video! I wouldn't do well with the elevations and drop offs so I enjoyed being able to experience through you. The scenery is beautiful!
As far as 4x4 trails in the Moab area go, Curt, the White Rim is really quite easy. But the remoteness and beauty within a National Park is the big attraction for us.
11,500 views, and yet only 671 likes. What's wrong with people? I've only just stumbled across this video, in a corona virus inspired binge. Sure, the production isn't as polished as later productions, but it's still fabulously fun, informative, and easy to follow along with, assuming that you might not want to take the journey yourself. Personally, I can't wait to try it. Keep up the great work. And, come on folks, show some support; Likes cost you nothing.👍 Liverpool, Limeyland 🇬🇧
Thank you so much, Colin! Thrilled that we became part of your virus binge watching. Great to hear from someone on the other side of the pond, appreciate it once again.
Great review Marc! Given that this was all shot back in 2013, the video quality was actually pretty good. I liked the combination of both stills and video. I got a very good feel for the terrain and trail. Very nicely done under the circumstances... prior to your channel. Gord
Thanks Gord! I've been hestitating for a while putting this one out because of those issues, but I finally got desperate enough for pre-season weekly content 😉 that I pulled the trigger.
@@GrandAdventure I'm glad you did Marc. It was fun to see. You have so much good footage from so many different places with common threads, that pulling 'off season' episodes together only requires the insight and enthusiasm to do so. I love your stuff... as do many others. Gord
Most definitely, but staying out there in the solitude is the best part IMO. Don't expect to be able to do the entire loop in one day, though, you'd only be able to see part of it as an out-and-back.
@@GrandAdventure I figured as much. We've been on a few like that. It surprises me that there aren't a least turn-outs every so often. I guess if a road is very lightly used it isn't worth it.
@@sajohnson33 oh, there are obvious places. In most areas you can see someone coming from literally miles away, so you have time to find a spot. Whoever pulls out first yields the ROW. However, it's entirely possible that someone will have to back down if you're in a spot that you cannot see anyone coming. There are only 50 day use permits issued per day for the 90-mile road, and overnight permits are limited by the number of campsites (10 total along the entire road).
Great video, BUT...looking at the Nat'l Park Service website, it says NOT to walk on Mussleman Arch and leave it undisturbed. Respectfully, maybe that's not the best thing to show in the video.
Fair enough, Lonnie. Perhaps they had no such restriction when we filmed this 7 years ago? There was definitely no signage to that effect at the time. But your point is well taken, and thanks for pointing that out.
There are definitely a few nervy spots along the road, but nothing too severe. There's not much scouting involved, the White Rim is fairly well known around these parts, but in all honesty my buddy Marc was the one who took the lead on planning this trip and obtaining the permits.
Our amazing public lands! I currently travel vicariously through your videos. How is that three mile hike classed? Nice guitar, btw. I think we actually saw Mrs.GA in this video.
Thanks as always Kim! I don't know any official classification of the Fort Bottom hike, but it's definitely easy -- it's essentially flat for most of its length. As for the music, our supplier/licensing agent Soundstripe is definitely getting better about more diversity in its selections, and we're very grateful for that. And yes, that was the Mrs. -- but don't tell her. 🤐 😁
Wonderful videos,, subscribe today for your channel. hey. when did you take those videos.. just wondering if the Shafer trail is open currently. since we plan to visit there on the 3rd weeks of March.
Thanks so much, MJ! Thrilled to have you along. Most of that video was filmed in November 2013, even though we just produced the video now. Whether or not the Shafer will be open during your visit will depend on the weather. If it's dry, it should be open.
I believe so, John, as long as it meets the 4x4/high ground clearance/low range requirements, but check with the NPS to verify. There are a few spots, though -- along the Green River and Murphy Hogback immediately come to mind -- where depending on the truck camper, it may be too wide to fit.
I've done it three times. Depending on the height of your camper I'd suggest one that folds down to cab height. There are over-hangs and tight pin turns and steep grade climbs and drops.

You're most welcome, Mike. The White Rim deserves that spot.
Love those stunning rock formations...
Thanks, as do we!
Thanks for showing this cool looking area. I have never gone to that area and I think I will put it on my summer list.
You should, Chris! Summer, though, is a tough time to be there with the heat. You'll also need to score permits well in advance.
Great ride. Thanks for taking us along. Spectacular.
Thanks for coming along, Spell Madam!
Beautiful Country!
Yes it is, Ben. It truly is.
That is a lot of raw beauty. Thanks for putting out the video.
Thanks as always for coming along for the ride, Bruce!

I often wonder if the people who bought those Caddys new would ever imagine their cars becoming immortal
Yes Byron, so true - that and the Crown Vic on Hell's Revenge!
Glad you pulled this out of the archives. It's just beautiful. You think a dually truck can do that trail?
Thank you so much! I wouldn't try it in a dually myself, too wide for many spots and probably too long a wheelbase.
Mark - great video. Just wondering, since many of the roads appear to be one lane, is the traffic one way?
No KC, you can travel that road in either direction. Someone finds a place to pull off, or someone has to back down in the tight spots.
Great trip Marc! Sorry I missed the premiere. Do you think it's worth doing an in and out trip without staying overnight on the trail?
Most definitely, but staying out there in the solitude is the best part IMO. Don't expect to be able to do the entire loop in one day, though, you'd only be able to see part of it as an out-and-back.
Yeah, staying out there would be the best part, but it will be June and I have an air conditioner back at the RV! LOL
That was a great trip thank you. Did you notice the image of a buffalo in the cliff wall at 14:10 ?
Thank you! Can't say that we did.
That road looks like it should be one-way!
Two-way the whole way. Someone just backs down.

Can you ask if you have to bring a gun when traveling in a motorhome? What legal documents are needed?
You certainly don't have to, but some folks do. Documentation, and carry regulations vary from state to state.

Unfortunately no, Raul, regulations require that the vehicle has 4WD low.
