If anyone wants to make this a seamless loop, instead of keyframing the texture mapping - change the Noise Texture dropdown from 3D > 4D and keyframe the W value (the W value is the basis of seamless loops for noise nodes). W is just a random seed
Hi, Thanks a lot for your tutorial, it's exactly what I need for my project! That said, I don't know why but when I click on the displacement only (the step at 4:55), the 3D shape of the letters does not appear. My typo is still flat. And then, when I unplug the base color (the step at 5:28), my text disappears and when I get close to it, I can only see black dots. If you have any idea what I could do, I would love to hear it!! Cheers!!
Hey There thanks for watching and the comment :) a few things you could try/check: Are you in the rendered view? Are you using Cycles? this sadly wont work with eevee. Is your plane subdivided enough? you can do that in edit mode or with a subdivision surface modifier. is the displacement node plugged into the material output? do you need to increase the strength of the displacement ? Sorry it's hard to guess the problem without seeing it, but i hope one of these things might be it. If not feel free to write me again and i'll see how i can help :)
I was having the same problem and I resolved it by following the troubleshoot toericht posted and realizing I plugged the alpha of the image texture into height displacement instead of color into height displacement.
@@toericht Im having trouble with the displacement, Im using 3.1.2, Also great video and channel, you get a well deserved like and I added you to my playlist.
Wow! this is a great tutorial, unfortunately I can't get the compositor glare effects you apply, probably I'm missing something, haha! I will do it again step by step because without those effects it doesn't look as good as yours. Thanks!
Hey, i really liked your tutorial, it is very well explained. Firstly, i thought it will gonna be hard, but you are making it so much easier. So for that bro, i leaved a like and a sub. I hope you will get the audience you deserve. Love from Madagascar 🇲🇬 PS : Sorry, if i made some mistakes in the comment because my first language is French.
Excellent video!!! Question: Would it be hard to displace the text, as you did, onto one side of a cube/rectangle (an object with some depth/thickness) so as to be able to create a stl file for 3d printing. I think you could expand your audience and get a lot more subscribers if you created tutorials that were also relevant to the 3d Printer community. I mean you're already creating the tutorials anyway and this is good stuff. Just create objects that could potentially be printed as physical objects and not just as digital media. Just a suggestion! Thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial! Love your work. I'm having some issues with rendering, I think the model is so complex (13 million vertices, 26 million edge..) that it's crashing my system each time (on quite a powerful computer).. do you know of a way to solve this issue? I'd love to just be able to render one frame..
I really liked the video dude, one question how do you get the noise texture to loop perfectly so you get a smooth repeating video? Tried using rotation but it was too fast and i had no idea how to slow it down
Hey There :) You could maybe add a driver to the rotation value and dial in the speed. there are a lot of tutorials on driver on youtube. Another way to do it would be using the displacement modifier instead of displacement in the shader nodes. then you could parent the coordinates of the texture used in the displacement modifier to an object and move the parented object in a circular motion so it ends up where it startet.
For some reason I am not getting the stars and glare when I render :( Makes me really sad cause I really wanted that added *sparkle* effect. Any idea how to get it to work? It shows up on the compositor layer but not in the render #Sadness
i'm subbed man! btw, is there any difference between animating the Z-value of the noise for the wave effect versus animating the W-value when switching the noise dimensions from 3D to 4D?
Hey :) You might not have enough subdivisions in your Render. If you use the Subdivision Modifier there are two values for the viewport and the render. it might help if you increase the render one and also maybe decrease the intensity of the displacement node. Hope this helps you somehow and if not feel free to ask again!

The principle behind this is basically the same in every 3d software. Haven't used C4D in a long time but it should also be possible to use a simple displacement texture in the materials :)
I deleted some of the vertices, but I don't know how to bring the deleted ones back to normal. I just want to have a whole regular plane again. Can you help me?
if you delete them they're usually gone. if you didn't do anything after you can undo your steps with ctrl+z or cmd+z. if that doesn't work you can just add a new plane and apply the material you've created witch the text and displacements. also make sure to subdivide the new one again :)
