Good day everyone. I am Gigi form my beloved Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and the 2021 title holder is actually from our country, he is none other than Mister Trinh Bao. Too sad that he did not make it to pass his crown to Mr. RD but nevertheless, the finale had to go on. Having been to the entire event for almost 8 days, I am lucky enough to meet and get the chance to have chit chat with almost every candidate in this 14th edition of MI, 2022 which was held in Manila, Philippines. Coming from the perspective of someone who had experiences judging pageants, here is my take on the Q and A which may help us understand why RD was crowned. Of course, we can only do much discourse analysis of how the two handsome and deserving gentlemen nailed the 2 different but equally tough questions. Here is my personal transcription of the questions and answers for and form the two gentlemen: Question for India: Social media has become a prominent factor in the way we perceive one another, do you believe social media has had a positive or negative effect on the way we judge beauty? Mr. India's Response: "Coming from the film making background, I understand how important social media is, be it positive or negative, it's how we tackle it, the world is filled with ? and it is how we see it, and if you educate people positively, it will lead to a good way, and social media is very important for the youth like us, so I encourage the youth to bring it back positively because I stand with, and the youth. Thank you" My Analysis: The question expects for an answer that wants the candidate to make a choice and to take a stand which is just "positive" or "negative" so this means, it is either positive or negative way on the way we judge beauty. Possible answer could be: a. Yes, social media has become a prominent factor in the way we see one another and I believe it had negative effect in the way we judge beauty because it has also paved the way to misrepresent who we really are. Filters, applications, and other enhancers have concealed the true beauty in us for social approval and so it has somewhat motivated us to show how we want the world to see physically as beautiful which is not the real essence of living and loving one another. In spite of this, I hope that through this pageant, we'll see that out of our flaws, we'll try to improve ourselves and to discover that beauty also roots from honesty, sincerity, and the way we communicate our brilliant ideas with and without social media. b. Yes, social media has become a prominent factor in the way we see one another and I believe is had positive effects in the way we judge beauty because it paved the way for people to express who they really are just as how us, men show the beauty of our advocacies for joining male pageants. Before, beauty pageant is perceived to be ideal for women alone but it is thanks to social media because through the years, the impression that the concept of beauty is mostly for girls has changed. Mister International, being a known and prestigious pageant through its platform is a big contributor in that change, it helps us prove that beauty is skin deep and that men can also be beautiful in very many ways and mostly, that is through their genuine and sincere advocacy as factors of good change in this world. Question for Mr. Dominican Republic: Despite the negativity brought by the pandemic, what remains positive in your life? Mr. Dominican Republic's Answer: "Well, we all know that the pandemic was so bad for so many people. Well, I discovered that I was capable to do some great things, I fell in love with arts, with dancing, movies, so, and lastly, I have seen how the world become united, that is why I want to be Mister International, I want to be, and I want to see the happiness and the positiveness [sic] in everything that is happening now. Thank you" My Analysis The question would like to know how the candidate to look for the silver lining within a chaotic situation such as the pandemic. This question expects the candidate to elaborate the reverse outlook of the good out of the bad, of the white from the gray, and of the acceptance of the context or the problematic situation. In short, it wants the candidate to know how can he interpret negative situations as opportunities to learn and to grow. Possible Answers: A. Pandemic may seem to be negative but based on my experience, it has also brought positive things. I have experienced seeing positive effects such as binding families closer and tighter during lockdowns, these are the things that most cultures seem to be forgetting, that we, humans as social beings and the very first environment that we need be with should be our family. Through those months of being locked down, our family members have also learned how to take good care of one another, how to mind each other's health, and most importantly, how to value this life on earth because we are just temporary travelers in this lifetime on this planet. B. Pandemic, being a negative phenomenon has also brought positive things in my life. The almost three years have taught me that there is joy in reflecting how can I still be of service to other people while being confined at home due to lockdowns. Lockdowns allowed me to discover those things that I may have been missing, which is giving myself time to relax, reflect, and reassess things that really matter in this life which is to be of service not only to myself but to anyone who needs my help to the best of my ability. End note: Being one of the the many who were at the venue, delivery of the answer is just a factor since giving stress and parallelism have undeniably contributed to the success of many other pageant winners in the past, the sincerity, directness, and responsiveness of the actual response really matters. I should say that winning the Q and A is both luck and skill. Luck because you'll never know what the answers would be as some questions are really tricky or there maybe instances where questions do not seem to fit to your level of experience and awareness (sometimes, global issues). It is a skill because you need to "quickly" construct and command your own frame of thought in not more than 7 secs as an average. Stuttering and buckling may sometimes be points for deduction on the scorecard but not a big deal at all if...the succeeding phrases and arguments can outshine the speech slips. As both pageant enthusiast, and analyst, I try to be as objective as possible no matter who my bias is. May we also remember that there are closed door interviews, pre pageants, and press presentation where the judges may just be secretly watching how the candidates are in their "natural" contexts. They way they carry themselves in and off cam, the way they ask for their hotel door key, and the way their fellow candidates describe them during travels and photoshoots with the photographers are "unknown" criteria at times which is similar to the previous formats of pageants like the Miss Universe and Miss World. Having said these, Lukanand and Manu are both winners in their own rights and title. I love Lukanand and will always do but I am also very excited for Manu Franco's fulfillment of his mission as the title holder. I believe that the pageant is just a platform for all of the rest of the candidates, ALL of them are already winners having represented their own countries and each one can still be a champion by pursuing their advocacies and to me, that is the real crown, the real sash, when you are able to realize your vision and mission after the pageant. Thanks for reading this long narrative everyone, I hope that this can somewhat shed light on those who still have grayish views on the results of the pageant. To me, personally, this is still the most intact batch of Misters because they are still very much connected to each other even after the pageant and they love and miss the moments so much it seems and that really matters a lot. Good luck to everyone and still, Congratulations to the organizers too, who have reportedly used their own money mostly because of the sudden death of the founding president wherein most sponsorships were not finalized yet days before the arrival of the gentlemen.

The reason why Dominican Republic won? He is the most handsome among the six finalist. Did very well in both swimwear and formal wear rounds. One of the best physique.
