Felt so bad seeing Jinshi drunk and crying while holding Maomao. I find it adorable that he feels comfortable enough to constantly let his guard down around her. And that she enjoys him more when he acts his age.
I like how Maomao who's usually repulsed by Jinshi touching her was fine with that moment when he was being vulnerable. A subtle nod to how their relationship is growing
The honey thing is still legitimate. You should never give honey to an infant. The reason is because of latent clostridium botulinum spores in the honey. Most adult digestive systems are developed enough to deal with it, but infants aren't, and the toxin can paralyze the respiratory system, which can be fatal. It's likely that because of her other food sensitivities, Lishu's nurse mistook botulism poisoning for an allergic reaction and told her to never eat it again. In truth, she probably could eat it at her current age with no ill effects.
So many strands of emotion in this one. Glad to see that you're asking more and more questions, and I can't wait to see how you react to the rest of the show!
I use t Ah-Duo knew of the mistake, but cherished Fengming and forgave her but did not tell her. Ah-Duo was happy with leaving the Rear Palace, to be free, but again did not tell her attendants. She feels some guilt that her silence contributed to the behavior and death of Fengming and her maid’s suicide. This is why everything was so stupid and wasted. Her affection for her son, Jinshi, and the cooperation of her childhood friend, the Emperor, allowed her to stay for 17 years as her son grew up. I think Jinshi knew this ergo his grief with her leaving, but it was what she wanted. She will be in her own Palace outside the Rear Palace and Outer Court giving her freedom, but certainly help to her son and friend the Emperor.
As for why Jinshi would be a "eunuch" in the rear palace, whether he is the Emperor's son or brother, he is the current heir and so a target for assasination. As the eunuch Jinshi he is far less a target
I'm not complaining, but this episode I started taking notes. The relationships between the characters become increasingly complicated to follow using memory alone.
@@FenrirLupo For a grown-up, several smallest drops of nectar isn't lethal or particularly toxic, but to infants, the honey from that nectar (google: "mad honey" and "grayanotoxin"), which has concentrated toxins in it, is, in fact, extremely toxic, thanks to much lower body mass and different metabolism, which leads to lower LD50 dose. Also, there are different species of azalea and similar plants from the Rhododendron family, with different toxicity, so your local plants could be safe, as rhododendrons are usually considered very good for honey harvesting. BTW, rhododendron also was the tree which caused the poisoning of soldiers in episode 2, with the same toxin. What an irony...
If Ah-Duo is Jinshi’s mom, then he is the current Emperor’s son, but born to lower ranked woman, that is, daughter of the Emperor’s nursemaid. He is the crown prince, but Maomao wonders if her imagination is running away from her.
One thing which you haven't really reached on your logic. If Jinshi is indeed Ah-Duo's son, who was changed with the Emperor's younger brother, then that means he's the son of the current Emperor. Just completing the thought process.
About 12:05: you probably forgot, but Maomao, since she was kidnapped, isn't registered in the palace under her real family name, she is still considered a part of the family which "sold her off" to the palace (and in reality, kidnapped her) - which is, in fact, legal in the plot to sold off your children to service in the palace, since there will be one less mouth to feed and more money to use. That's why Jinshi was sad at the garden party when he heard the full story from her, and gave her the hairpin with the implication "if you want, I can get you out of here at any moment, after all, it's my fault that I missed this hoax", basically saying how he values her and he doesn't want to treat her as a "convenient pawn" anymore... and Maomao totally missed the real meaning of the hairpin and chose Lihaku instead) But Maomao still technically is a "daughter" of that fake family, and that family is connected to Fengmin, so... you'll see in the next episode, what that means)
Yup. It's more like rented out than sold off in practice, which is why they talk of her having a two year term and take a cut of her pay. Makes it all look and sound much more civilised while being almost exactly the same thing.
So if Ah Duo is no longer an emperor's consort....that mean she's single now? 😏 But joking aside, I really like her character and hope she comes back to the story in the future. I mean, if she's really Jinshi's mom then surely she must, I'd think Also want to see more of her relationship with the youngest consort, their story together is precious.
This anime is great! I really enjoy your reaction videos, honestly cannot wait for you to see the rest of the season! You're probably not looking for ideas of shows to watch because you're probably getting a lot of suggestions, buuuuuut, I will still recommend One Punch Man, just because I'm curious to see if it's something that you would enjoy, it's funny/goofy and the next season is coming soon, so it might be a good place to start it 😊
For context, and I dont think this is spoiler: Sometimes a family have to send their daughter to work in the rear palace. For some people this is a honor, while someone else really dont want to. So these people hire thugs to kidnapped random girl on the stress and claim that is their daughter instead. That's what happened to Maomao in ep 1, and was mentioned in ep 6. Unfortunately, her "family" (the one who hired those thugs) on paper have connected to Fengmin's family as bussiness partner.
I'm pretty sure the thugs were not hired, rather they were a bit down on luck and money, saw a girl they could kidnap to make some money, and did so. As was stated in Ep 2 Maomao didn't like part of her wages being sent to those men for drinking money, and since they get a portion of her wages during that two year contract it would be more financially beneficial to claim her as their own than for someone else.
"Posing as a eunuch" He isn't. Nobody ever addressed him as such or mentioned anything along those lines. Only Maomao did the thing her dad told her not to do: decide on conjecture. Her genki friend told her in episode 1 about a rumored pretty eunuch. Maomao saw Jinshi and put it together and never asked anyone if it is the way she thinks it is.
But [spoiler for later this season] Jinshi and Gaoshun are taking a drink to suppress their manhood and Jinshi puts on a fake voice in the Rear Palace to sound more feminine. So he's definitely pretending to be a Eunuch. Especially since ONLY Eunuchs are officially allowed in the Rear Palace
the season 2 is already announced on 2025 :)
"already in 2025", oh well, then I guess I wont have to wait... more than a year

Jinshi crying and holding Maomao broke my heart but also was so sweet, and the way Maomao just let it happen because he needed the comfort. 😭
That scene of Ah Duo watching Maomao leave makes me think she knew about the honey for a while
As for why Jinshi would be a "eunuch" in the rear palace, whether he is the Emperor's son or brother, he is the current heir and so a target for assasination. As the eunuch Jinshi he is far less a target
And he's the most trustworthy person for the role
I'm not complaining, but this episode I started taking notes. The relationships between the characters become increasingly complicated to follow using memory alone.
They rehash parts for this plot later again, so that helps.
i shouldve done that tbh LMAO
This anime is very unique and also the animation is really good
When I was a child, I often sucked the nectar from azalea flowers on my way home from school.
Me too. My parents had that plant in the garden and I often pick a flower and suck the nectar. It was really sweet.

S-tier anime. This would be an excellent story in any format but im so glad its anime.

its such a banger show and maomao is the best female protagonist I ever watched
I mean...why is there surprise about harsh punishments...everyone in the palace is basically chattel and live under the sword.

As of book 11 Maomao is not sure if Jinshi knows about his real parents.
jinshi probably sad because his mother will go out from rear palace
Though he doesn't know that's his mom yet, from what we've seen later
You seen the Blu-Ray leak of the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight?
