Cliff hanger this one. Interested to see how this turned out after seeing Julia develop in the past few days. Buddy boating with people you haven't sailed with but might be friends with could present some moral dilemmas. Ultimately the captain of the vessel is responsible for their own boat and crew. Hopefully they made it to a safe place.

Years ago I used to ride my Harley with some blokes. First it was OK but then there was always one who needed gas, was hungry, needed a piss, beer, yaddity, yaddity. So we'd all stop. Only to repeat again in the next 10 miles! Today, I ride alone and go when and where I want stopping when I want. I get what you're saying about buddy boats. You end up feeling some responsibility to get them through. Same goes now for me when I have crew (other than the missus) aboard when I'd rather be single handed. Best of luck although based on the fact that this video was posted means that you came through it all golden. Waiting on your next vid!

Very smart to leave before the hurricane. While the islanders are used to these storms, I would hate to be in the harbour during such a time. It was bad enough on land. One of the saddest moments that I will never forget from Hurricane Julia, is seeing two flares shot up from the sea on the west side of the island. I have no idea if help was even able to arrive, but I will forever wonder if they made it to safety.
It looked like your buddy boat was quite a lot smaller than Be Free? I’m not sure exactly how you can buddy boat with a boat that can’t keep pace with you? Seems like a challenge on many levels in the best of conditions. I hope it worked out for all parties involved.

Thomas you cant fix stupid , Im afraid the No 1 Rule is to take the safest option & once on the sea suggest BUT your own & your vessels safety all ways comes first , Been there done that before , Im afraid it didn't turn out good , Hard , but your survival & your crews is paramount . Fair winds .
