  • April in England means finding a place to shelter from the cold wind and rain. So, the river Dart, Dartmouth and Ditisham provide a perfect destination to be when on a Sail Boat in April. The deep-water moorings opposite Dartmouth Town are perfect to moor up and watch the world go by or, pop into the food hall for very good quality provisions to take back to the boat. Going further up the river, to Ditisham, is like going back in time to a peaceful, quiet existence. Mooring up to a mooring buoy and watching the water taxis bringing tourist to visit the former summer home of Agatha Christie, or just watching families at play on the water in dinghies is a perfect way to spend the day. Using a drone camera in this video we show the house and gardens from the air, the beautiful countryside walks and our mooring below.
Join us next time for the Brixham Pirate Festival.
Also, in this episode we show you how to use a mast ladder and fit and configuring a new wind vane. Also see the new self service boat fuel station at Noss Marina.

NO they are still expanding and building it is going to be like some kind of American gated community. I did not check out what shops etc but a very immersive space. I just love the ease of the self serve on the pontoon

Great vid as usual, would love to see your going up the mast method in more detail - what type is the mast ladder?

Hi It is a dedicated mast ladder. It has pieces that fit into the sail runner up the mast. This stops it swinging out when climbing it. Ideally for safety it would be good to have a harness on and some on on a spare halliard as a back up. I replaced my main sale halliard around 3 years ago and i know it is good. If you are unsure of the quality of your halliard or it is old i would not trust it. a link below to the same make of lader. I was lucks as mine came with the boat.

Yes a dedicated mast ladder with runners. I totally agree that i should have some one on a winch and to my harness as a back up.

@@AdventuresofSeaPigeon Many thanks for the feedback, I've been considering a similar setup for a while. I fully agree some kind of backup will be needed - perhaps a harness sliding up a secondary fixed halyard by way of a prusik knot or climbing device.
