Kalen DeBoer over Dabo swinney is possibly the worst take I’ve ever heard in my life
JD was very clear in the video that this list included recency bias, and that if it was about their full careers, Dabo would be top 3
Even recency bias would mean that this list is fucked. Yes Deboer had great seasons at Washington. But his first season at Alabama was honestly a dumpster fire by comparison to Nick Saban. Like I’m not saying Deboer is a bad coach at all. But by comparison to the history that Saban has brought as one of the best college coaches of all time, Deboer took the program and had some embarrassing losses
Ryan Day is a FG away from being #1 on the list
Brian Kelly is a bum 😂
He’s not top 10. Later teens
"Tell me you dont know ball without telling me you don't know ball"
@@drydenmanville6066 He never wins anything
@@MaeFlower-m1z just like marcus freeman and the national championship 😭
@@drydenmanville6066 That's a terrible compairson he's a young ass coach in his 3rd year and played a powerhouse in the NC 😭 zero ball knowlege
Huepel at 10 surprised me, not because I don't think he deserves to be there but because as a Tennessee fan it's been a long time since Tennessee has been top 10 for anything in football
Dabo should be higher
Great segment 👏🏾
People need to remember the dumpster fire that Heupel inherited at Tennessee. He can definitely rebuild a program. If he can get the Vols offense humming again then he will keep climbing this ladder.
Ryan Day is 11-1 against James Franklin, Steve Sarkisian, Marcus Freeman & Dan Lanning.
Lanning is the most overhyped coach in FB.
How? He ran the table and won the Big10 their first year
@ He’s done exactly what Cristobal was doing. Yet people have him in their top 5. What’s he really won?
@@jmarley3839the big10 their first year. And it was his 3rd year as a head coach. Oregons only loss was to the national champions and was one of the only teams to beat the national champions. So I mean if you think that lanning isnt trending in the right direction then idk. Re-evaluate yourself.
@ you still didn’t answer the question, what’s he won that ranks him as a top 5 coach?
@@jmarley3839 won just as much as any coach except Kirby, swinney, and Day. Name 5 coaches better right now as of today that are currently coaching ??
Georgia would've won the national championship if the 12 team playoffs was one year earlier
Cap. Because they lost to Alabama in the SEC championship. And even though it was close, the actual play was convincingly in Alabama’s favor. Georgia struggled a lot in that game. So I call cap
Exactly people dont realize that
No. 2023 Michigan had the defense of the century and the highest rating of the year in basically every source. Burden of proof is on YOU to claim UGA > Michigan
@@AsianPersuasian4595Tx is going to be a tuff out #1 class a 100mil in nil they need to cap nil
Ryan Day is the clear cut #1. All of his teams have finished in the top 4 of Connelly’s SP+ (no flop year like 2016). In fact, his debut season was arguably the most dominant regular season of all time. Kirby’s “toughness” and “manhood” brews injuries which gave him two titles. Kirby will always be Mr. 11-1 to me. Ryan’s finesse style of ball, coupled with a strong and secure defense is the future
I mean I'd probably put him 1b to Kirby. But he's top two now that he has that national championship.
Chip Kelly is the only reason Ryan Day stopped choking in big games, well besides Michigan, even Chip couldn’t help him do that😬
Also pretty sure a gorilla that knows sign language could’ve won the championship with that roster and coaching staff. He also needs to spend more time not being a dirtbag who calls 88 year old coaching legends out, and less time dyeing his beard and hair. You have to be a special kind of dirtbag to drive away your great DC after winning a championship
Day is #1 because of nil money. Without straight buying players he’s probably 10.
No he is not. If day was 1 he would have had 2-3 by now with the rosters he’s had. Osu literally needed a head coach in Kelly to step down as a head coach to be a OC. As a notre dame fan Kirby hands down the best college coach rn.
Ryan Day lost to a 6 and 5 Michigan team at home 23 point favorites. He's lost to Michigan, 4 years in a row, and he's lucky they had a 12 team playoff this year and you know you're lucky. There's a 12 team playoff this year because that loss of Michigan wouldn't have gotten you into the 4 or even an 8. But you need a 12. That's why no one watched your national championship, and that's why no one cares😂
I don't understand how Sark is always so much higher than James Franklin when they are basically the same thing.
I’m olds enough to remember when Dan lanning was above Ryan Day
It’s funny OSU fans want to get rid of day and yet he ranks as the 2nd best coach
Marcus Freeman should atleast be in the top 5.
He doesn't have the HC experience or wins yet to be up there, it's too early in his HC career.
Get in a conference
if you think that put Dabo there
He should be 2nd or 3rd. Refer to my rankings above
@@blackmambaram7034 He just won 3 playoff games and made a title game at ND where its almost impossible to win like that because you can't recruit at ND like you can at Georgia or Ohio St. He's a top 5 coach.
No one talks about him but what about some Sonny Dykes love. Dude went further than most guys on this list at TCU of all places
Crazy Norvell had 1 bad season and people hating on him
Going from undefeated in regular season in 2023, to getting raw dogged by Georgia in the bowl game the same season and winning 2 games the next year. That’s why.
IMO: Brian Kelly, Lincoln Riley, - descending coaches. Lanning, Cignetti,Freeman, Sarkisian, Dillingham - ascending coaches. Day, Smart, Sweeney -- steady coaches. DeBoer -not sure based on 2024.
ascending coaches do NOT LOSE to G5 schools. B2B seasons.
@@FredPitre-o4b He's still getting used to being a head coach and uh also he played for a national championsip?? Yes those loses are shit but that's because he's an ascending coach who's improving genius
@reececampbell6269 It's kind of hard to be descending when you go 0-3 your first 3 games as head coach?
@@FredPitre-o4b no bro that's the point. His record has gotten better with fewer losses each year, so he's an ascending coach
@reececampbell6269 There are more than a few that fit that criteria
Kirby Smart lost to Auburn by 23, Ole Miss by 18, Bama by 17 twice, and he lost to Vandy. Ryan Day lost to Michigan by 23… and that’s it. Where’s the other inexcusable?
And how long ago was thst
Kirby has 2* national titles and a handful of sec championships.
With small sample sizes (2 games) you can’t just use national titles as an indicator. Remove one injury and Day has 2 and Smart has one. Smart is also abysmal in SEC title games, especially against Bama
I absolutely love Dan Lanning, I would have to put him outside the top 5 until he can at least get to a national championship. Bad draw this year catching Ohio State with a rusty team, but still, you have to beat the man to be the man.
How in the hell is Dan Lanning in the Top Ten-did anyone watch the 2025 Rose Bowl no coach has ever done that before in the history of the Rose Bowl. There aren’t Ten Coaches currently coaching that have led their team to a National Title. Lanning has not delivered value-he’s very expensive, and he has not delivered the results he was hired to produce and he clearly had not ability to influence the most important game in Oregon Ducks history. I’m willing to bet-anyone could have done that-it was that bad, a lot of people could have coached in that game better.
Oregon was “the man” for half of the season lol this really applied more to Ohio State than Oregon after losing by 1 in their first meeting.
How many Title does Dabo Sweeney have compared to Dan Lanning? Where is Sweeney ranked? This BS about potential performance is nonsense, he has a record he has been blown out horribly twice and blown some key games. He is as good as the Oregon Ducks can do, but going down 34-O before halftime, no adapting, not adjusting. He can be in the Top Ten for whatever reason people need, but certainly not Top Five. He makes 8 million a year, maybe that where he’s Top Five.
@@BetterDays-e8hso he’s not better than all the big 10 coaches expect ryan day 😂😂
@@BetterDays-e8hdidn’t clemson get smoked by lsu also 😂
You lost all credibility when you put Brian Kelly on this list
Absolutely wild to have people with zero national championships over someone who has two and appeared in two more, absolutely insane.
1. Kirby Smart - He gets a real OC again, he'll be unbeatable
2. Kalen DeBoer
3. Ryan Day
4. Dabo Swinney
5. Jeff Monken - Bit of a scorching hot take here, but winning the AAC at Army is a big fucking deal
6. Marcus Freeman - Stop losing to mid-majors and you could be number one
7. Dan Lanning
8. Matt Campbell
9. Brian Kelly
10. Curt Cignetti
Dude Ohio..notre dame..Alabama..Texas..ole miss..Oregon are all more impressive than smarts program.
@@cdpridg3998 Georgia hasn't lost to an unranked team since before the Coronavirus, I don't think you could say that about those other programs.
How do you put Kalen Deboer over Dabo and Ryan day who have national titles.
@ DeBoer does have three titles at Sioux Falls, he just needs a pocket passer at QB, Milroe wasn't that.
1.Day
2. Freeman
3. Sarkisian
4 Dabo
5. Lanning
Lmfao this the worse comment here. Casual much? Kirby still the number 1 coach in college football bro. You don’t even have him in the top 5? Lmfao. Then day most likely. Only because chip kelly who stepped down as a HC to be a OC. If it wasn’t for Kelly day would probably be at 5-6. I would even have freeman higher then Lanning tho because what freeman did in the playoffs with more injuries then any other team in there. No kirby tho just shots this whole list down and is super laughable. Legit has me loling rn.
mf #2??? What a maroon. ONE season does not a career make.
Smart is running half a team on the field. That offense isn’t division 2 worthy. Not a great coach. Wouldn’t know a good offensive scheme if it slapped him upside his head
Freeman dominated Smart and all teams but Ohio. He’s earned the 2 spot
@@cdpridg3998 teams like army, navy, stanford and purdue. Just to name a few. Add a7m and sc to the list. Some directional school in Illinois. Scratch that one.
Kirby my GOAT
Ryan Day still can’t beat Michigan tho lmao
I think you have Sark to high and you have Freeman to low.
Kirby hasnt won jack without Bennet at qb. Lets see if that ever changes. Cant recruit or develop receivers is crazy
The reason Bennett was good was Monken. He catered the offense. Smart can put a defense out there which is where he spends money..middle linebacker but not a clue offensively
Y'all said Bennett was trash until now. Stop trying to rewrite history like Bennett was something special. Kirby took a red shirt and made him a champion
He just won an SEC Championship
Sherrone Moore has just as much reason to be listed as James Franklin. Dude hasn’t won one big game and has lost them all. Moore has beat Ohio State twice and Penn State along with pulling off an impressive 1st season with a depleted team after the national championship. Oh and he beat Kalen Deboer too.
Too small a sample size man. Once he can consistently do it then he will be a part of the conversation. He won games as an interim HC with a team that was put together for 3yrs by one of the best coaches but the true test was this season with his own recruits and holding the reigns with no outside help. He's gonna have to improve in recruiting and development as well but he's off to a good start, just give him time and I'm sure he will prove himself to earn his spot as one of the top tier coaches in the entire league.
MORE. He won it all when he got to title game.
Always gotta be at least one delusional Michigan take
I would clarify that this is probably more of a jab at James Franklin than anything else. I do think that Sherrone Moore can’t be far outside this list though and that a solid campaign in 2025 would push him into it.
@codymchargue5747 I agree he can start to get on the list eventually. But he had the reigning natl champs that many were saying preseason had the #1 D, #1 TE, and their RB1 made cover of EAsports. Majority of analysts predicted them making the CFP. They were ranked #11 to start season, but had 5 losses and wouldn’t have even made a 32 team CFP. He failed to see a need to bolster the QB room in the portal. I wouldn’t even put Moore on a top25 list at this point
You lost all credibility with this list
Ryan Day will be fired if he loses to ❌ ichigan
Lanning changed the perception of Oregon football? It is the same as when Cristobal was there except for one factor: pay for play is now legal and Phil Knight’s money is the discernible difference. Division Street is the gold standard and created by Knight with guess what: Nike execs. Money from Knight is Oregon’s staying power. Stop with the glazing and look deeper under the hood.
mario was losing to 😂 shitty teams with 10 years of experience and still is dan has only lost to ohio st this year and his barely going into his fourth and plus if you saw the way mario players played vs dan big difference
The Drake glazing is not it
Kelly has legit never been great since Cincinnati, and that was against a Cincinnati schedule..
He couldn’t even win with Jayden Daniels and that offense lol
What colors you fly at the house?? Could it be blue and gold?
I agree with all the argument you made as to why you placed the HC's in their respective spots and yes we could have push back arguments for several on this list as to why they should be placed higher or lower but for the most part i agree. The small sample sizes of some at their current schools (less than 5 seasons) like Josh Heupel, Marcus Freeman, Steve Sarkisian, Brian Kelly, etc is what effected their records/win percentages to overall placement.
I dont give as much praise to those coaches in the same sense though and need to see more consistency against actual ranked opponents/tough schedules before i think anyone should praise or rank them within the top 10 early in their current HC careers (current school/ program).
I like BK but this is the year for LSU to make the playoffs with the level of talent and staff on roster. If they don't then anyone who says BK is the issue will 100% be right. If Marcus Freeman can duplicate or come close to the same season and make the playoffs then we can say he is a legit top tier HC, but hopefully its a true test against a tough schedule. The rest have to improve as well and not stay stagnant if they have elite rosters. But Kirby definitely is the best HC in the league. Had the committee not kept them out for one bad game against Bama in the SEC championship they would have beat both Washington or Michigan for the first 3peat in modern CF history. Just my unbiased opinion.
mf has been gifted a candyass schedule again this year just like '24. Plus doesn't have to worry about CCG. BIG advantage there. In regard to '24, nd played ONE regular season opponent that finished RANKED.
Freeman should be higher than Day, Freeman made it to the championship when literally nobody but ND fans thought they would.
Every analyst had Ohio State winning preseason.
Like, congratulations, you didn’t screw up the greatest roster assembled in the past 15 years
Day beat freeman and day gets credit for putting all that talent together. 🤡
irish greatly benefitted from that oh so VERY TOUGH REGULAR season schedule. Topped off by not having to worry about CCG. GREAT coaches don't lose to a G5 school TWO seasons in a row.
Just to be clear clemson '18, LSU '19, bama '20 and BOTH uga champions would have taken tOSU behind the woodshed a put a serious country boy whipping on their ass.
@@FredPitre-o4b 🤣 RIP SEC!
This years Ohio state great offense and defense beats that lsu and Georgia teams like a drum
You do realize Marcus freeman is 0-3 vs Ryan day
Id like to see Lanning continue to improve.
I don’t. I think he’s a mediocre coach who can’t win big games and part of the reason for Kirby’s big game struggles. If Dan Mullen wanted to embarrass both of these mfs by scoring 60+ in 2020 he would’ve
Bit harsh foreign me but he has not elevated the program in results and that 34-O performance was the worst arose Bowl in the history of the game and he slapped that in my Oregon Ducks. Shame is no longer a thing, but shameful. I thought Oregon could lose that game I did not see that awfulness coming at all. It was awfulness, Dan Lanning prepared for an awful game and coached an awful game in the most important game in Oregon history.
The only thing Dan Mullen embarrasses is himself. Terrible coach
@@RadicallyOptimistic That was true until this year. Ohio State and Big 10 championship game. Do you have any criticism of Lanning at Oregon that's rooted in reality?
@@RadicallyOptimisticso he didn’t improve from last year 😂
James Franklin should not be on here ill take lane kiffin over him
Kiffin’s best trophy is either a C-USA trophy or a NY6. Franklin has won multiple NY6 games and the B1G. Kiffin hasn’t even appeared in a P4 or P5 conference championship game.
😂
To be honest, it's Kirby Smart and then everyone else!
Dabo has as many rings as him and Day only has one less.
Not a chance dude
I see that. Kirby should be #1 but never lower than #2 and I'm not a UGA fan.
Kirby got WORKED by Notre Dame, Florida and Kentucky. I hate to be that guy, but I could’ve taken over at 5 pm that day and beaten Kentucky by more than 1 measly point.
Kirby got worked by a mediocre offensive line in the 2021 SEC championship
DeBoer overrated
bad list
Id take Arizona State's coach over Franklin and Kelly any day and twice on Sunday.
He's gonna make a name for himself soon, dude did an amazing job at Arizona. He just needs more time to build a roster, develop players and build his resume. He'll definitely have an argument in the near future.
So the coach that beat day and deboer and honorable mention lincoln this year doesn't make the list interesting. And Bryan Kelly is about to get fired or is atleast in the hot seat.
Has moore won anything or lead his team to the playoffs? Didnt think so
BK will absolutely be fired after 2025 if they don't make a playoff run with the roster he just put together. Any coach would be fired in that situation and quite honestly would deserve it. However, I think they will be quite dangerous both offensively and defensively this season. It's been since 2019 that LSU hasn't been elite on both sides of the ball at the same time. But as far as Lincoln, he's lost games he shouldn't have and hasn't consistently beaten the other top tier programs the same season with 10+ win seasons against high ranked opponents so those are the things that probably kept him off this one list. Can make arguments for both ways to be honest.
Kelly is garbage…I rank him 19th
Texas and Oregon both would have beat ND
@@GlaxoViperMane 🤣🤣🤣
Kinda seems like a monkey could’ve won the national championship with Ohio State’s roster..
Yeah? Were you saying that October 12? How about on November 30?
@IamRa-18 who the f do you think recruited that roster? Ya think a monkey could do that? How come your HC couldn’t? Think before u comment
@IamRa-18 who do you think recruited that roster? How come your HC couldn’t? Think before u comment
Alabama couldn’t make the playoffs with as much roster talent. Lanning had as much talent and got his butt kicked. Sark has elite talent and got taken down. BTW, who assembled that talent?🤦🏼♂️
Ill take Shane beamer and stoops and Arkansas coach over Franklin he is overrated and his best players came back they will not make playoffs
Pickel man has the dumbest takes. Notre Dame continually getting disrespected by Pickel man.
Fr this guy is just an SEC glazer and Georgia glazer. Listen to Andy and Ari (specifically Ari) for based takes that don’t revolve around Athens
When was the last time Notre Dame even won a conference championship? Exactly
O yea ill take deion over Franklin
You and no one else lol
