I do find what happened disturbing and evil. With that said I have had a pretty rough life myself and as a result I have developed a pretty dark sense of humor. It is a coping mechanism that many people develop to try to deal with such an evil world. If I didn't find a way to laugh even in situations like this, I would be stuck in a deep dark depression.
You see this a lot with people like first responders, emt's, fireman, police, health care workers, etc. They see horrible stuff every day and it is their way of dealing. I will say not everyone that is making jokes is doing it as a way of coping, but I am sure quite a few of them are. Things are pretty dark these days.

@rightn2 What I'm saying is literally everyone in KY refers to a County instead of the name of the town. I have to look up a KY county map to figure out where it even is. Just not used to it I guess. Where I'm from, there are usually 3-4 towns per county.
A majority of areas in Kentucky are referred to as their county , because of the fact that it's a Commonwealth. County and City limits are clearly drawn and those outside City Limits reside in the County. City Police deal with those inside city limits and Sheriff and State Police deal with those outside OUTSIDE city limits, who reside in the county. All cities reside in a county, but all counties aren't related to their cities. Sorry to give the "Long" version, but that explains a lot.
