“Restomod” is a term thrown around a lot these days, and we think Larry’s Nissan R32 is the perfect embodiment of the term. The car looks like a tastefully restored survivor but has a few modifications that bring it into the current century. In fact, from the outside, you’d be forgiven for thinking this car has had any modifications at all. But the best thing about it is that it's street-legal in Larry's home state, California!

Not seeing much "resto". Just a little bit of "mod" on an already good car. R32 GTR... not many of them in bad shape. It's nice enough, but a "Restomod" it most certainly isn't.
As for being California legal... how is that even noteworthy? The markets that this car was released to had emissions protocols and noise standards as strict or more so as California...
For me this would be OEM+ rather than a restomod. Building on top of what the car was delivered originally with. A stroker with bigger turbos, i.e. same block and induction configuration, stock exhaust and intake.
Glad you enjoy it homie 🙏🏻
You and Tommy are killing the game right now!!! whatever the fuck you guys are doing ..keep doing it 🫡
@@shokunin_era boy just imagine JM at daikoku PA holiy shit all Josh name is missing is a d and his initial would be jdm😂😂😂
This is how it's done. 👌
Wow it is a very nice example of the BNR 32. So tastefully done. I have the HKS High flow silent system on mine and you hear nothing, pretty much like stock, but more flow. It would be a nice touch on this one and more flow with those super sweet twins on it ;) Anyway wicked job one this R32 👊🏻🤘🏼
Love it I see went you post it on YT first time and see Tommy put all the knowledge on you car it came out super perfect Tommy its one off the best on those gtr he kill there 👌 👍 💯🙏
Beautiful Car! Awesome break down of what was done to it.
Wonderfull stuff.! And just leave like it is..its perfect
Very sensibly modified, which is rare these days for a 32 GTR.
Larry knows what cars are the best
Amazing car Larry and congratulations!!!!!!
I talked to a shop out in the PNW about doing work to my car. I told them no ABS no HICAS, I already purchased a Haltech ECU, they demanded i use Link, paper head gasket, stock head studs, no upgraded billet gears for the oil pump. Needless to say they didnt get my business.
One of cleanest R32 around. It's a sleeper. But goes like a rocket 🚀 Enjoy yourself 👍🤙 Aussie Fan 💪🇦🇺🆒
That thing is beautiful. Even the usually dash bubble is not there. I want one!
Nice Looking better than new Show b4 Go
Excellent build!! BTW, he could just take out the bulb in the gauge cluster to not see the HICAS light all the time…
Tommy does some great work at his shop, hopefully hes had a moral reality check after ripping people off.
Wow..
Awesome, but man it’s so quiet 😢
Overnighted center caps from Japan
Perfection. More credibility in this type of build than most 32 builds these days.
The beauty of old cars, you can modified it and as long as it pass the sniffer test you're good. Now, any little change to the car, automatic failed
Tommy is the r32 guru
I’d really like to understand how the 25 year Federal import rule and then specifically CA emissions laws for vehicles never sold here works. I’ve heard conflicting information and read that certain models will never be eligible and are blacklisted. Does it go by the motor and only if it was used in exactly the same configuration in another CA vehicle as in a Supra in this case? Larry can you please give some insight? I looked into a Mini Cooper but the BAR said it would never be possible in CA as that motor never came here on 25 year rule cars.
It's hard to tell because California legislation in general is a total mess, and sometimes even contradicts itself. The 25-year rule is for NHTSA stuff (safety and lighting, mainly), the EPA actually lets the car go exempt at just 21 years! So anything imported under the 25-year rule is also automatically exempt from federal emissions regs. But no, California has to have a bunch of additional crap, most of which is more concerned with paperwork than actually reducing the emissions (if emissions reduction was the only goal, they wouldn't have any regs about visual test and all you'd need to do is pass the tailpipe probe test).
ABS delete is a mistake.
@@unheimliche9410 *any* ABS is better than none, and will threshold brake significantly faster than any human can...It is deleting a factory safety feature, what's next...seatbelt delete?
"If I hit ABS on the the street, there's something else going on".... *That's precisely what ABS is for* .
@@glentight I wouldn't go that far. Some ABS systems have terrible response and oscillation rates, and this is one of them.
Does it have: "4 on the floor" to go wit that clutch ;)
If u live in USA and don't like cars ESpeciajy project builds u don't know how it's hard to do this builds if u not in USA Europe or Japan,,nontheless ,This cars are available in Kenya beat down rusty but problem is parts importing parts is crazy ,this r32 and also s15s and supras and Celica the really heritage versions ....
Love the car but not sure how it can be “street legal” with an ecu from haltech that says not for road use😂
If it passes the pipe sniffer then it passes emissions. The thing still has cats and runs on pump gas so it should be fine there. Doesn't look like they did any of the nhtsa crash safety stuff like motorex had to deal with but I think that's what the 25 year thing exempts you from?
Too bad tommy lies and rips off his customers, Larry lucked out with the youtuber special. regular customers have their cars sit outside uncovered for close to a year and still dont get touched.
360hp? I love American dynos
That's low for what would be expected from a built 2.8 with upgraded turbos. It's choked due to using a stock airbox and exhaust, there's probably 50-75 wheel HP in those two systems alone.
If you own a GTR and it’s California legal. That’s the biggest flex. True king of GTR owners.
