You deserve more subs, these videos are very well-made. In this case I think the American version was better.
Agreed.....With the sub thing
Thanks. Almost at 1k, its small when compared to most but i'm proud of how far i'm going. Thanks to everyone's support.
Agree
Watched this for the first time yesterday, cheers Criterion, honestly that opening theme has to be one of the best pieces of music from the series.
This guy deserves way more subs, great jokes and info.
You are totally right. There is no need to do movie comparisons if nothing was really edited or cut out from the original Japanese version of a film.
Awesome channel man! Great to see that there are still fellow godzilla fans around!
yes it's finally here also can't wait for the Rodan differences video keep up the good work
This is so great. Thank you so much for the amazing content
I feel Godzilla's dance works better with the stomping sound effects. LOL
Agreed. It makes the scene much more memorable.
"In space, no one can hear you dance"
*tag line on unreleased poster
I’m not feeling too well today but I just discovered your channel and am now binging all ur vids. You have made my day feel a billion times better. Keep making videos!
Glad I can help make your day better. Hopefully you'll feel good tomorrow best of luck. :)
@@PaperFinz thank you
Subbed, hope you gain popularity!
Thanks!
The opening soundtrack in the Japanese version is very catchy ngl
We're have you been I've needed this since 1984 lol thanks for this
8:10 Actually, I am. I still have all of my Godzilla VHS Tapes from when I was little! I had and STILL have on VHS:
Godzilla King Of The Monsters (1956)
King Kong Vs. Godzilla (1963)
Mothra Vs. Godzilla (1964)
Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero (1965)
Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster (1966)
Destroy All Monsters (1968)
Godzilla’ Revenge (1969)
Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster (1971)
Godzilla Vs. Megalon (1973)
Terror Of Mechagodzilla (1975)
Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah (1991)
Godzilla 2000 (1999).
Also, I could be wrong, but I do remember renting Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster (1964) from Video Only when I was little, but I just rented it I never actually owned it.
And I recently bought another VHS player because unfortunately we got rid of the one I had when I was little. So now, I can rewatch my Godzilla VHS Tapes anytime I want to relive my childhood, and anytime I want to watch a Godzilla marathon I watch it on DVD (of which I now have every single Godzilla film ever made from 1954 to 2004).
Seriously, where can I purchase a VCR in 2022? I have a lot of vhs tapes sitting around and I don't have the heart to throw them out.
@@teedup8995 Well I found my new one on eBay. I would check there.
@@nathanielschwartz425 Thank you for responding to my question! I'll look into it.
@@teedup8995 You're welcome. :)

4:21 It’s A Saucer! Space Saucer!
I wish somebody would release the American versions of "Rodan" (1956), "Godzilla Vs. The Thing" (1964), "Frankenstein Conquers the World" (1965), and "War of the Gargantuas" (1966) on blu ray!
I remember the movie poster showing the double feature as that is how I saw this film. Monster Zero and War of the Gargantuas. You may want to check put Godzilla vs. Hedora (The Smog Monster) for differences. There are three versions. The original Japanese, The American version, and an English dub done by TOHO in Hong Kong for the international market. There is a song that was rescored for the American version while the international dub uses a translation of the Japanese song. Th is the only difference I know about. And thanks for posting this and the other films.

🧛🏻♂️Super Castlevania-Soundtrack as backround-music?cool🙂
It's weird cuz the version I'm watching on HBO Max is the criterion collection version and it starts out with the Japanese text and everything but it's dubbed in English I'm only 6 minutes in so I have to see where it goes from here but hey
4:30 Well that. But also, based on the clip you’re showing it looks like people wouldn’t even have enough time to read a caption of what it says even if they DID put a caption in that scene. It cuts away almost immediately showing the file.
Glad someone explained this. I thought I had the name wrong.
0:09 Great Monster War, Again just like the last one this is the first time I've ever heard this in my life.
Could you please do a Godzilla 2000 differences video? Because the American cut actually has some differences compared to the original Japanese version plus it's worth noting that it'd the first Godzilla movie released theatrically in the United States since Godzilla 1985 (the American cut of the Return of Godzilla) both cuts of Godzilla 2000 are available on Blu-ray by Sony.
I like these comparison videos, just funny to hear Taro Kudo in them. ;)
They must have kept the alien language in a newer or different company's dub, because I watched this here on UA-cam last week and it has the alien language kept in.
Wow I’m shocked. Thought sure that there would be a change somewhere following the playing of betrayal audio tape
during the newspaper stills of civil unrest and voice over in the American version
Agreed about the future dubs not really cutting anything out after this point. And yeah, edited version dubs on VHS were sometimes worse and other times better than the Sony DVD dubs like Son of Godzilla and Godzilla Vs the Sea Monster, specifically the Goodtimes version was way better than the later uncut DVD dub.
Great video Kaiju bro
This movie wasn't bad but FUCK forever thought that sound that machine Tetsuo makes was a good idea
4:16 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LOOK OUT THE WINDOW!
At least it was not "The Wilhelm scream".
I’m Trying To Do The English Translation
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey buddy you should watch the sonic movie
@@YourLocalGummiBearsFan Naw no thianks
This movie should still have had Mothra like the movie before it this is probably why Ghidorah won Godzilla and Rodan because you have two monsters fighting a monster that is kind of like three monsters in one.🐲🐲🐲
I do think that the American Version is on the criterion collection
Terror of Mechagodzilla has some really awful cuts that change the plot quite a bit near the end. Got it from Madman Showa Collection, fortunately both versions are on the disc.
I strongly prefer the Japanese opening theme. That is an iconic Godzilla song and opens the film with an epic pulse, while the song chosen to open the US version just sucks the energy out of the room.
I've always hated "196X" and would very much prefer to keep the time setting vague.
To each his own. The ominous, mysterious music creates intrigue. The upbeat military march music heard in the Japanese version is better suited for the climax of the movie when Earth has turned the tide against the aliens.
@@mikehunt4986 I think it is great to bookend the film with that theme, and opening it with that theme gives the film some much needed energy and momentum right off the bat. A musical taste of things to come.
But as you said, each to their own.
You didn't mention the dubbed line with the woman saying Telephone!!
Is that Super Castlevania 4 playing in the background?
the opening theme to "Monster Zero" is also used as the opening theme to 1993s "Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II"
this is my favorite dub
The Godzilla dancing scene feels weird to me without the dubs' sound effects.

Did you find a version of the American version of Rodan without that constant red tint?
Im using a dvd rip of the 2008 classic media version. ill try and fix the colors the best i can when using the footage.
@@PaperFinz PLEASE Don’t Swear In The Rodan Differences
@@YourLocalGummiBearsFan He can swear if he wants to, he has freedom of speech
@@MGWFilms97 ok
@King Kong Fan WHY ARE YOU HERE IN YOUR DRILL CAR
I only watch Godzilla on VHS lol.
The unclear ending bothered me as a kid. We see Ghidorah fly away, but never see Godzilla or Rodan emerge from the water
Which is why Tetsuo says that they're still alive because they were "too tough" to have been killed by Ghidorah. He wasn't just telling that to his girlfriend, he was telling that to us! lol
I have seen both cuts but I prefer the American version
Shin godzilla took some monster 0 music on the train scene
4:21 where was that scene what run time was this part on tell me paper finz
idk but I found a clip of it: ua-cam.com/video/MjfxTab-E_o/v-deo.html

Fun Fact: if You watch a Swear Count on The South Park Movie You'll Hear Some Segments of The B Word Being Heard
I first saw this at 5 years old on channel 5 KTLA. I didn't see the Japanese version up until a couple of years ago. I see love the American version of course.
Funny you had the Gargantuas on the thumbnail since they didn't star in this movie. I'm ok you NOT showing the differences on that TOYO film. I was so traumatized after watching WAR as a little kid to this day I avoid that movie.
Monster Zero was originally released in the U.S. as part of a Double Feature with War of the Gargantuas.
Are you serious? War of the Gargantuas has the greatest giant monster battle of all time! Man up and conquer your silly fear lol

I don’t think the US cut will ever get another official release. I really like the US cut of this and Godzilla vs the thing. Good thing I kept my old classic media dvd’s.
