Brian, I’m finding these “micro” lessons to be your best…because they stick to just a few things, in a very clear approach. Connecting everything to chord shapes is extremely helpful. THANKS!
I've come to the realization that -- aside from my 7yo son -- nothing brings me more joy in this world than time with a good Active Melody Micro-Lesson. So, so many gems on Active Melody. Thanks for all you do, Brian.
The "easy" Chuck Berry shuffle is gold. I can't do the typical full chord version, so usually just bang on the chord without doing the pinky finger action. Never seen anyone teach that alternative and show its use in context.
I just renewed my yearly subscription. What I’ve learned from you is invaluable. Best investment ever. My guitar playing has gone to a whole new level all thanks to you Brian !
I hope you weren't blinded by all the lights that just dawned on me :) Your exercises and lessons are so fabulous - thank you for that. And I'm happy to have the full access to your Website - so I can learn a lot more about guitar playing.
You have a very good teaching style..(simple) lol these concepts open up a lot of territory and are Very helpful..Thanks..You are a very good teacher....
awesome lesson! One request though- could you also please count the beats when you break down and explain the licks? that would make it so much more clearer! thanks
Great. Stuff I can watch with Fender in my lap, plugged into my 10 Watt tube Marshall Park practice amp … and learn-practise actual blues licks, shapes etc.
Brian, in one of your video lessons you talked about setting up a particular guitar sound. You used a combination of setting on the guitar and the amplifier. It would interesting to see a lesson where you spend time talking about setting up guitar/amp sounds. Cheers Vaughan
Man I love your lessons find them helpful very helpful. Can you do a lesson on petals . I just bought a wampler belle petal still trying to figure it out trying out stacking them together but a lesson would be very helpful or advice I appreciate you man
B... when you're not playing, prepping... what records do you choose from that plethora .. behind you; and when does one have time?.. Are they "sorted". ? and you know where to go for that... "Mood"?
I know all my shapes and the chord tones in them but when it comes to mixing major and minor I always get thrown off by notes that just don't sound good. Really gonna have to sit with this to expand on it b/c clearly I'm doing something wrong. These are the kinda lessons I hate at first, but always pry me in the right direction(:
They're six scale degrees apart. So if you start on the 3rd you'll end up with the 1, or if you start on the 5th, you'll end up on the 3rd. Always 6 apart.

You are the Teacher, Teacher ‘s, May God bless you.
This was an eye opener for me... amazing how something so simple can be missed by someone (self taught) who has played for a while. Thanks dude.

Brilliant! Thank you Brian. This gives me lots to work on as I start out on guitar.
A lot of giveaways there that took me years to tumble on. How cool is Brian and the Internet.
Great lesson, all these peices fit together. Thanks

Good idea. I struggle with this too.
This is one of the things I struggle with the most. Especially when it goes from quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, etc.
Even me… I struggle with the same thing.
And slow it down a bit.
Great. Stuff I can watch with Fender in my lap, plugged into my 10 Watt tube Marshall Park practice amp … and learn-practise actual blues licks, shapes etc.
Lots of great wee ideas, thanks Brian 😊

That's quite the record collection you've got there! Any Zappa in there? 🙂
I'm afraid there's no Zappa

What are those two tasty chords at the 5:50 mark? Thanks.
I think they’re 9th chords - Eb9 and D9.
Me gustaría que lo traducirán en español es bueno pero no entiendo todo gracias
How many records do you have in back of you?
How many beer bottles does he have laying around besides the one on the key board...
Why is it called a harmonized 6?

The way of making money 😉
the guitar hurts my brain.
It would have been a so much better lesson if he showed the tabs.
this guy has taught me almost everything i know on guitar for free but if you want the tab for it he has it available for premium members
Tabs are available to premium members - link in the description.
$10/month for premium membership and you can download tabs and backing tracks for any lesson you want. Super worthwhile.
I highly recommend premium membership. Well worth the money.
