- At least 3 were killed and a number of others were injured in shooting at an Istanbul cafe. There are reports that targets were Israelis however their identities are yet to be confirmed. According to local media, the shooting erupted between two groups at the cafe. The argument between them snowballed into an armed conflict which resulted in the shooting.

I think the British army had something to do with it. The Sultan disappeared off the scene on board a British warship. End of Ottoman Empire. Ataturk then led as Turkish leader from 1923.

When we lived in Istanbul, we were having lunch at a bar in an upmarket shopping mall and two Israelis came & sat next to us at the bar. They ordered drinks & food & paid in US dollars & insisted on having their change in like currency. The young Turk serving them was at a loss. The Israelis were so rude, so arrogant my husband had to say to them “this is Türkiye, the currency you pay in is Lira”. They only sneered & ignored my husband insisting to the young server that he do as they said. Other Israelis we met didn’t admit to their nationality - some said they were Icelandic.
My experience of Israelis has not been good. But I have had some good experiences with Jews.
