Malawi 2019: From Mkulumadzi to Pumulani

The eight hour drive north through the heart of Southern Malawi is a sobering experience as you come face to face with the abject poverty of these lovely people. 74% of Malawians are below the UN poverty line and it's clear to see as you drive past village after village. The first part of the journey was through the lush Shire Valley in which the floods earlier this year destroyed huge numbers of homes and crops. Many displaced people have had to move to higher ground to be rehoused. Here then is just small snap shot of life in this country. It does make you realise just how lucky we are in developed nations.
