Christopher Judge’s 10 minute unskippable cutscene was one of the funniest things ive ever experienced on the CONEY stream
I'm kinda happy I missed the original stream so I could skip the hell outta that after like 2 minutes
When Coney started playing his own music above his speech I lost it
That kid is the prime example of “Just act like you belong and no one will question you”. Pretty much everyone either didn’t notice him or was thinking “Idk who this is, but I guess he’s on the Elden Ring team” until the moment he started talking. He had everyone fooled. The fucking production team even lowered the music for him and put the camera back on him. Hell, I think even Miyazaki thought he was with them until he started talking
It was the perfect plan, geoff assumed he was with myazaki in some way and from software assumed he was just a security member or something, absolutely nobody suspected anything of him until he started speaking
What Coney said about security costing extra after time running would explain how that kid got on stage.
Al Pacino and Christopher Judge eating up all the time at the start lol, Geoff is definitely going to try to enforce shorter speeches next year, the music playing for Christopher Judge and others was very funny.

I thought it was so strange how Stray was winning everything indie related and was even up for game of the year. It was a fine game but I don't really get all the acclaim. Definitely impressive visually for a non AAA game but no where near GotY (same with Plague Tale lol)
Agreed. It was a good game for sure, but outside of the visual spectacle, there was nothing outstandingly attractive about its plot or gameplay.

First time I fully watched them, great year! The fact that xenoblade 3 was nominated so many times alone makes me so endlessly happy (even though it deserved soundtrack more than gow, but I also didn't expect it to win anything).

Maybe if you had played Xenoblade 3, you would’ve realized the irony in that it’s literally about how hating a group of people that you never even tried to understand only leads to senseless conflict.

for each minute the awards show went on Valve would give out free steamdecks in a raffle, the VA for Kratos had a long speech, completely throwing off the schedule and amount of steamdecks being given away to increase

@@LoKing1337 That would be true if it was a movie or other medium where the plot bits are meant to be given to the player in a sequential order with good pacing to make it easy to understand. But lore driven narratives where you need to piece things together like Elden Ring are much more dynamic in the way they unfold and how the player interprets them. They aren't inherently better than obvious, easy to understand narratives, but aren't inherently worse either. Just different.
@@LoKing1337 You don’t. Just play the game, pay attention to what NPCs and item descriptions say, and use your brain to piece it all together. Souls games require effort not only to beat the game but to understand the game too.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I believe speeches like the one Cristopher Judge did should be the norm for award winners, in the Oscars the academy gives some time on stage for each winner to say their stuff, and most importantly it doesn't give 5 awards in a row like it's trying to speedrun the event.
I think that if this event wants to really be respected it's should focus less on the trailers and announcements, and focus more on the awards that give name to the whole thing.
