    This is the kind of car that truly makes you a better driver. No excess power as a crutch, no excess weight so you cannot control the car as well. You really understand how to hit the apexes and follow a line.

      +Daniel Tojcic Even a stock one is fucking amazing to throw around...I've got one that I'm driving for a year and then swapping the drivetrain to a new body, and even then since all of the running gear except for the brakes are in mint condition it's an awesome little car to fly around in. (Don't worry, the brake thing is just a front caliper piston that partially drags when it's cold due to being worn out...I'm replacing it soon anyways and going easy on the brakes in the meantime.)

    • @MrNamegame
      @MrNamegame 8 років тому +3

      iTheGeek Well, I'm not having problems with mine. Two of my buddies own a Metro and a Sprint respectively, the Metro with a 3-cylinder and the Sprint with a 4-cylinder, both just a model year behind. The Metro has gone through 2 of it's 3-cylinder engines now with only 210,000 km on the body, but the Sprint still has the original engine in it at just shy of 300,000 km on it with a valvetrain rebuild and minor rust repair. Nothing else. I picked up a 4-cylinder as well and my only issue with it so far was a fouled MAP sensor causing overfuelling for a while, and that's it.
      It may not be a real car by everyone's standards, but it's cheap as hell to fix and an adventure to drive, so that's why I bought it.

    • @hbsupermage
      @hbsupermage 8 років тому +3

      +iTheGeek sucks? mine has over 380.000 kms, and it still does 0-100 in under 7.8s corners like a go-kart, and can get 20 km/l on the highway. ah, also, it has never broken down, ever, and dont worry, i have others, more expensive and newer cars

    I used to own two of those, one n/a and one turbo.
    Eventually i kept the turboed one, but both where fun!
    I decided to keep the turboed one, once i got the hang of it's snappy nature!
    It was turboed since 1997 and i sold it in 2011, same stock engine besides baleno pistons and thicker headgasket.
    Daily beaten and driven, never missed a beat!

    AWESOME build! Will that dogbox fit into a 1987 Sprint? Its got the 1.0 Turbo engine but the 1.3 supposedly bolts right in as well which I plan on building as a backup motor. Did you have to fab your own transmission mounts?Does it need a bell housing adapter or do they have a dogbox that will bolt right up? I have no power steering in my MK1 so it should be really crazy to rip in with a dogbox!

    One question, what parameters does one use to tune ITBs with no plenum? Obviously air temp, manifold pressure or mass air flow sensors can't be used, so what is it used? TPS, RPM, exhaust temp, oxygen sensors?

    • @user-yn5sk5ru5g
      @user-yn5sk5ru5g 8 років тому

      Tps, rpm, lambda, map. You make a vacuum manifold. Take vacuum from each inlet and connect it to the separate manifold, also need that for vacuum assisted brakes.
