Capital Punishment is one of the greatest rap albums of all time. I still remember buying it in the store. I still remember getting sampler tapes from Loud Records in the 90’s. Sampler Tapes were basically appetizers for albums back in the day, in the form of cassette tapes. Before digital music took over.

The origin of this beat is from Dr.Dre and Snoop's "Deep Cover". This is the reason that Snoop shows up in the video. This track that you are reviewing is a reinterpretation of the original by Pun and Joe. Respect to you for taking the time to listen to this. Pun is one of the greatest of all time. His whole Capital Punishment album is a must. Yeah Baby is his second which is good as well. I suggest you check out "Beware", "Dream Shatterer", and "Leatherface" as good points to go further into his discography.

Also fun fact, PUN didn’t initially like that verse on the song because he thought it was too nursery rhyme ish . Fat Joe is the one that encouraged him to do it and the rest is history. But yeah, technically Joe is the OG in this group, but Pun overall became a bigger artist.
    But they both killed it.

    That whole album is fire
Tres leches with prodigy inspectah deck and pun with rza on the beat is crazy.
RZAs genius is sometimes lost bc people don’t realize it but at the beginning of puns verse he says
Prodigy deck and me QB is Bronx trilogy lyrically hazardous for your health
In between saying QB and Bronx rza samples the word Shaolin which is slang for Staten Island… it completes the reference for all 3 boroughs being referenced.
In my opinion it displays his mastery and all three verses are flawless particularly big puns

Fat Joe is that artist who made good albums and great songs, but FAt Joe was very strategic in playing the hiphop game. -------- In control of the publishing, the music, the business, the touring, his artist and so forth. The same can be said for Ganstarr, Tribe CAlled Quest, EPMD. ------ The hip hop can easily go sideways if you are not in control of your shit, because of that you had so many artists have one hit an fizzle out. ------ The reason you even heard of Fat Joe is the fact that he had radio hits and street hits. ------ He was sure to maintain credibility by making street stuff. But locked up that hiphop 401k by making a few radio bangers. Fat Joe was strong and steady in the hip-hop game for over 2 decades. He wasn't the shooting comet that Biggie, TuPac and Big Pun were.

    1. Fat Joe was out before Pun in a crew called Full of Clips, he put Pun on after being out for a few years.
    2. Joe has had a hit in almost every calender year in some way, shape, or form be it features or solo.
    3. They tied Snoop into the video in the beginning as a play on the original track which was Deep Cover by Snoop and the baseline for this track

Puns entire Capital Punishment album is top notch, one of hip hops greatest albums. You should check out the entire album as a reaction/review on your channel or in your own time.

you guys gotta check Beware-Pun kills it on content, cadence & delivery is god tier. Hard AF
Puns up there with Big L in terms of flow & Lyricism and Biggie for sure, rappers weren't really doin these multisylable schemes much before, all 3 mad influential , game changers fuck it chuck pac in there as well. Rap phenomenon Choo mix is a pretty good mashup with each of these guys having a verse
