I was hoping for a comparison to your previous benchmark MM-500s for mixing on and I would love to know how easy they are to drive of most audio interfaces..
I just got me an Apollo TWIN X Quad Interface. Is that enough drive for high end headphones or do I need an additional Headphone Driver that goes into the Interface?
The MM-500 extend deeper into the lows, and are brighter on top, with a bit more presence in the highs and upper middle. The HEDD are a bit darker and flatter and even more unhyped, and don’t extend as far into the lows. I could see the HEDDphones being especially ideal for classical and jazz and acoustic music. They are detailed without being bright, warm without being boomy or bass heavy. In a sip test, the MM-500 will probably sound more “impressive”. But they are still flat enough to lead you in the right direction, and give you even better insights about the deeper end of the subs.
They are one great option yes! If you mixed on these, I don't think you'd be disappointed at all! For some people, depending on tastes, these could be THE best option. But headphones are a very personal choice so I recommend narrowing it down to a few options and trying them yourself, remembering that your mixes will tend to sound like the inverse of your monitors. Here's a good overview of all the models out there. These are definitely among the best made for sure. ua-cam.com/video/Jr8OtTONQNw/v-deo.html Very best, Justin
It’s hard to say. The MM 500 would potentially make you feel and hear the bass a bit more. But the HEDDphones would potentially encourage you to push the bass a bit more. If you are going to be buying headphones in this price range, I would definitely recommend trying some! -Justin
What do the curves look like? Are they relatively flat? Peaky in the mids? Roll off below 100? Above 10k? I love your stuff but I would like to see the sciencey stuff as well.
That's tricky, as accurate headphone frequency curves are notoriously difficult to create. Raw frequency response data for headphones tends to be extremely misleading, and there are a lot of assumptions that have to go into normalizing their frequency response so it makes any sense on a chart. That said, the normalized curves I've seen seem to suggest the average user would experience a slight dip in the upper mids, a very slight lift in the low mids, They are pretty flat down to at least 50HZ, and have some useful information down to 40 and 30 Hz and even 20Hz, but somewhat less so than 50. They have a little extra air in the extreme highs above 10k, which is a bit offset by the curve in the mids mentioned earlier, so you won't think of them as being "bright" at all, even though they extend very high. Compared to most other headphones, I'd say that they sound very "flat" and "neutral". They are like the NDH30 if they sounded much more hifi and less midrangey, with better transient response. If you like really bright or really bass heavy headphones, they might not be for you. If you want something that sounds unhyped, neutral, pleasant, and detailed without feeling bright, they could be a great bet. I hope that helps! -Justin

TWIN X headphone Amps are shockingly good. I had Neumann ND20's that came alive compared to the headphone amp on my SSL X-Desk@@kma997
@@kma997definitely not, they need more power! I have to use an SPL Phonitor 3 with the volume knob all the way up!
Excellent and informative review, thank you!
Audeze LCD-X with the software emulating studio monitors, audeze mm500, or these for mixing and mastering???
Justin, I would also love to know how these compare to the MM-500? Please be so good and share your experiences! Thank you

Is a Built-in 0.5A high current drive, hi-speed headphone amplifier strong enough to power these?
I think so, yes. You should be able to get up to a level that would hurt your ears in most consumer device amps I tried it with.
@@SonicScoop thank you

Hello, what mic are you using recording this video?
Would this one would be better than the MM500 for Bass /Sub head and work centric like I am ?

HEDDphone TWO vs. AKG K812 ?

I’d like him to be for sure! We have sone potential sponsors we are asking.
Very best,

Is there a difference sonically from the original?
I haven’t compared them, but I have been told that the new generation is voice to be a little bit more neutral still.

i like your videos mister
If you do that driver crincling with an lcd 4z the driver blows and the warranty is voided.
