Thank you for the video! Quick tip, I pulled the trigger slightly when re-installing the slide stop, and this helped line up the hole immensely. Cheers.
Just got my pdp yesterday, was able to put 100 shots through it and can't imagine ever changing its wonderful trigger. By far the best feeling full size trigger I've ever felt. Also, the red loctite is mainly for permanent hold at very high torque.
I have the v4.5" full size PDP and although the stock PDT trigger is very good and better than most, the Walther enhances any upgrades. I bought the Overwatch Precision top end direct replacement for $200 and you can definitely tell a difference. With the stock PDP PDT trigger I could rapid fire quickly, now I look like a movie star firing so fast 18 rounds is gone before you can imagine. Talk aboit a race car 9mm It is quicker than my CZ Shadow and just about even with my FK BRNO 7.5 with a 9mm barrel
@@GhostDragn you must be a damn good shot! I honestly can't imagine going any faster with the recoil from the pdp when it's in balance of the trigger pull. I've almost got it down but still need alot of practice to truly get in sinc with the pdp's recoil to trigger pull ratio. At 10 yards I can keep maybe a semi-decent 4" group when shooting as fast and as accurate as the recoil will let me but I have to death grip it. I can definitely fire MUCH faster than when I'm trying to be as accurate as possible but I end up getting tons of muzzle rise to the point where it's almost off paper.
@@TerminalM193 my PDP has the benefit of the following upgrades that allow very fast flat shooting of even 147gr 9mm loads: -Walther 50N tungsten guiderod -Overwatch Precision DAT trigger -Taylor Freelance brass backstrap -Taylor Freelance comp mag base plates. The added weight of the 50N and brass plus the super trigger is flawless. I will post video showing the above and the new Taylor Freelance comp mag well being custom fit this week
@@GhostDragn I thought about getting that guide rod! Honestly though, did you notice a difference when using the tungsten guide rod? It's rather exspensive and I would like to be sure that it's atleast going to help me somehow. Also, with the heavy guide rod does your pdp still feed and chamber properly? Is the upgrade as easy as just throwing it in where the original is? Thx for the response btw! Also, from my understanding, shouldn't a heavier grain round like the one you mentioned give less recoil impact than a 115g round? I watched a video the other day explaining how smaller grain rounds will cause slightly more recoil because the rounds are able to be expelled from the pistol at a much higher velocity and force. I'm still very green and I'm learning every day so this all could be wrong from the video and my "green-Ness" can't discern the difference just yet.
@@TerminalM193 my advice would be to buy it and you will observe better accuracy first clip. Lighter grain bullets usually have less kick as the gun recoils less due to less weight trying to be ejected out of the barrel. The heavier the bullet usually requires more energy to move out so perceived recoil is greater. Some light weight bullets have huge powder loads like a 9mm +p+ round where you will definitely feel increased recoil. More weight in the pistol equal more absorbed engery by the gun resulting in less felt recoil. The tungsten guide rod ads weight were most effectively reduced muzzle flip also perceived as recoil. Hope thats as clear as mud lol sorry if its confusing.
I hate to be “that guy” and be overly critical, but using red Loctite isn’t normally recommended for sights. Blue is was most gunsmiths use these days. Also, the replacement sights don’t look tall enough for that red dot.
Agree on both, the blue stuff and the weird front sight. That said, the scs optics cowitness 1/3 with 0.17" tall (from slide) 43x sights, factory whites are 0.19" and anything higher will take away real space from an already tiny window.
Go right ahead and be 'that guy'! You are totally spot on! Noted the same things (and I'm not some gun genius). Also, no locktite on the screws holding the RDS in place and no torque applied. This would be the last guy I'd take my gun to for mods. He also seems to go out of his way to bad mouth the trigger (that every single other reviewer I have seen RAVES about!) just so he can justify the installation of the Walther replacement trigger.
You make it look easy. I don’t see changing anything else on my PDP but a gunsmith replaced the stock sights to Ameriglo. Much more visible than the original.
Stock trigger is great for striker . I use it for duty I don’t need it any lighter or shorter I’m happy with it tbh. Prlly will get a red dot soon tho! Great video
I am installing the trigger and I am on step one removing the slide stop pin I cannot hammer it out for the life of me. Do you have any recommendations?
it appears the taller walther sights esp/ the rear are shorter than the back of the Riton red dot? which red dot does walther say those sights are for? because id want to buy the next set taller. thanks
Red loctite. Really? I hope you never need to replace your sights or optic because you will need to heat those screws with a torch. I would be looking for a different GS in the future
And isn't Medium strength Blue? I only know red and blue. BUT I will say that I have put a few sets of XS sights on a couple P365 and they use Red as well but it is not on threaded screws, it's to secure the sights to the slide (odd). Do you think you can use red because of less surface area the red doesn't secure like it would to screws with larger threads?
Did you find the Walther plate fitting kind of loose and if so, did you centre it or push forward or backwards, then tighten it…? I wasn’t able to see that.
I’m kinda mad at Walther. I buy a pdp in September, then they come out with the pdp sd pro. They should offer an upgrade special. Nice work in the video btw
The the free optics plate you order through Walther's website. Just need your model and serial number. The plate in question is for the RMR, X3 and Holosun
where did you get the mounting plate for the PDP? i dont want a new trigger or iron sights/ I just cant find an optics plate for my walther. if you have a link, please post!
Hey wait mine looks different when I take the slide off then guide rod and barrel, instead of having a small ring at the front there's a sort of tube which wouldn't allow the front sight tool to reach the bolt thing, any thoughts? If this isn't a good explanation i can go into more detail
That's exactly what I was thinking. And I've always thought of red as permanent, not medium hold. I use blue on everything. Only thing I ever used red on was an AR gas block
Wouldn't it be better to install the front sight first so that way to know where to align the rear almost to perfection? All I'm missing is a vice or a sight pusher though...
Great instuctional video! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you! Question: Do you think is best to replace the recoil spring guide rod with a metal kind? (stainless steel, tungsten). I have been told the polymer rod on the PDP will break. So I am thinking in replacing the spring guide assembly.
Thanks for watching! We haven't had any issues with the guide rod so far. But it's all personal preference, if you're worried about it possibly breaking, then maybe you should grab a stainless or tungsten version.
@@SportsmansOSSA customer service representative from Walther GmbH advised me basically the same. I was recommended to buy the recoil spring assembly from DPM Systems. It is supposed to tame the snappy flipping of the PDP for lack of a double spring system.

geez removing the rear sight seems more trouble than its worth. the issue for me, is to unlock the adjustments for the vortex viper, you'll either have to take off the RDS and unlock, adjust, then lock and put back on. Or you have to run through all this to take off the rear sight. what a bummer.
awesome video! im new to the gun scene and from EU. for understanding, you switched the sights because the original ones are too low to work with a red dot?
We surmised that the guide rod was not seated at the factory. Walther immediately sent out a replacement which worked. I got the SS for insurance against future breakage.
I say this to be constructively helpful......The steps in the process would be easier to follow if the technician remains aware of his hands and the gun movement in and out of focal distance as the videographer attempts to maintain focus on the steps in your process.

Yes, the reason being is if your optic fails, iron sights that can be seen above the base of the optic will allow you to still take accurate shots.
What is a roll punch pin? Did you mean a roll pin punch? Red Loctite, no, I use the Purple 220, made for screws under 6mm.
Stay away from Red threadlocker. Preferably use Blue or Vibra Tite VC3. Ask me how I know.

I wouldn't count on that Riton dot. I've had a PRD and PRD2 go out after 7 and 3 rounds respectively. The QA on those is hot garbage.
Don't use a low DOF on a how-to video.
