I have found that my Namiki Emperor in FM also has a very good reverse writing experience. Thanks for the review! Love this pen!

I know it's not a major thing, but I wish the pen was presented in a box akin to those of Namiki. Especially with the urushi! Still, it's a very handsome pen. Thanks for the review.

I agree, my guess is that they wanted to keep the traditional wooden boxes to only namiki fountain pens.

@@OwlxArt quite possibly, although the namiki Yakura daruma comes in a clam shell box which isn’t in alignment to the rest of the range :))

I rediscovered a Red Platinum Urushi pen I was gifted 20 years ago. It's fantastic the color looks great. It's the size of a platinum president / mid sized pen. But I wonder why you would get an Urushi pen in black lacquer? Part of the charm of Urushi is the color and the aging? If you wanted a black pen, a cheaper/simpler resin would suffice?

Thank you for the good video. Does custom urushi write more smoothly than custom 823? Is there a difference when taking notes?

Do you prefer the Pilot Custom Urushi or the Namiki Yukari Royale

You've been on a roll recently -- thank you, there aren't enough videos on higher-end Pilot/Namiki. I have a question regarding Urushi: does it stain? In particular, do you have any issues with your vermillion Ukari Royale?

No i haven’t had any issues with my urushi pens so far thankfully

@@OwlxArt That's good to hear. I was worried that if ink stays on the section for too long, for example, you'll get a stain you can't rub off.

This would be the pilot custom 845, right?

Doesn’t wiping gold nib with tissue lead to micro scratches on the nib ?

This isn't a pen for me. I love the Namiki Maki-e and Chinkin pens, but not the plain urushi. But using the clip is not going to damage the urushi in any way. What makes urushi special is that it's one of the toughest finishes in the world. You simply can't put an easily damaged finish on a pen that costs as much as $15,000.
I've seen urushi take a ridiculous amount of abuse, and not get damaged at all. It's like iro. The clip is simply not going to damage it. And why would it? When you use the clip, it isn't touching the pen, andwhat does touch the pen, various types of cloth usually, can't possibly harm this finish. You're drastically underestimating just how tough and hard urushi is.
They put a clip on these pens because they intend for you to use it, and you should.

I said it “might” damage it and I personally don’t feel safe when using the clip religiously since every time the clip closes back on its own after taking it out of a shirt pocket, etc., the noise just puts me at unease. I keep my more expensive pen in cases so I never have a need to use the clips.
If you feel safe with using the clip very regularly on an expensive pen with urushi finish then more power to you. This is just my personal take on how I treat my own urushi lacquered pens.
