Open and close of posting period in Financial Accounting is simple process. You can easily open and close any coming / future or previous period without any further configuration and requirement.
In Material Management, the opening and closing the posting period is little bit tricky and not as simple as in financial accounting or SAP FI. In Material Management, you can only open next period in normal process. But if you want to open the previous any month for posting of invoices or MM document, then you have to execute the special transaction for the purpose i.e. MMPI. -
But before executing you will have to enter a string MMPI_READ_NOTE through transaction code SU3 in the parameter field and enter the today's date in reverse order. In this way you can open any previous or coming future period in Material Management.
