Thank you Lt. For my freedom and serving our country so bravely. My friend Dan Perlinger was a radio man same time and talked about a lot of what you say. Your so right, judge told Danny take your choice military or jail.

Every time I watch one of these I want to copy your questions and ask my grandad about his time spent in Vietnam. He was an armored personnel carrier machine gunner during the same time as this man. His patch is a big red one and he's my hero. I wish he'd tell you his story. Anyways. Thanks for another interview and God bless

NO SURPRISE. Another good Marine Officer that got it done. You can see, to this day, his respect and consideration for the youngest, least connected. That's what makes the Corps work, the chain of respect runs backwards down in the grunts with the real people. Thanks for your work LT.

Thank you for your service LT Ahearn! I'm glad you came home to a real midwest welcome. We truly appreciate the service and sacrifices you made. No soldier, marine, sailor or airman has ever lost a war. Our politicians need to see those frontlines firsthand. They are the ones that send men off, they need to be the ones to see them come home and support them when they do. And a huge thank you to all Vietnam veterans. Your service to fight for veterans rights even after enduring all that you have has helped millions of veterans after. Thank you and God bless.

@@VoicesofHistory I will always remember @ 2Lt frank Aahem quote" freedom isn't free you have to the price and sacrifice " what an amazing, last few moments of the interview with Larry, when you asked Frank to look into the camera, and salute, that moment, was so special between the both of you I could almost see his tear drop. and then his smile and ending with the both of you pictured together smiling WoW what memorable ending .

I can only watch these stories about once a week.
I was in VA Psych for 5 years til 2007 because of ptsd,
Wife and I visited Northern I corp and into the North a little
in April 2015. The 40th anniversary of Vietnam. So, Modern now!
When we came back, every day I cried, EVERY day for 2 months.
Wife wrote a letter to the VA about me. I had 2 hours of therapy
    and stopped crying.
The Vietnamese were so wonderful to us. Phu Bai on to the North
past the Ben Hai (DMZ) a little, is all modern. Phu Bai base is a huge
industrial site on the west side of the rail road tracks. The Hue airport
on the East side of the hwy #1 is receiving Boeing 747s.
They were building a Freeway to the west around Phu Bai & Hue.
A freeway Just like ours. Get this, Hwy 1 in Phu Bai is a 4 lane
divided paved boulevard Trees and shrubbery in the middle.
Non of the Thatched or shabby buildings in existence.
The coffee is to die for. Very, very additive.
I'm 80 years old now and lost my sense of taste and smell.
So it's stupid to go back again to drink coffee and eat Soup.
I bought a pair of shoes 2 years ago. Made in Vietnam.
I've bought 2 jackets, Made in Vietnam.
I bought a 6 pack of underpants at Walmart, Made In Vietnam.
Vietnam is so beautiful. Go on UA-cam.
    see some travel vids.

Mr. Ahearn is right, I think our soldiers, as they always do, brought a new level of freedom to Vietnam. Someday leaders, both in this country and others, will someday learn that life is better when we bring a better world to others. A better life not found in bars of gold and wads of money.

Thank you for your service and welcome home..I was drafted on March 27th 1968 I was at the armed forces induction station downtown Los Angeles on that day they did in fact draft young men into the marines quite of few of the draftees ended up in the marines that morning..I ended up in the us army did a tour in Vietnam with the 25th infantry division..they had four buses that morning the first two were leaving for the marines reception station San Diego the last two buses the one I was on left for fort ord California..

I concur, as when i was drafted March 04, 1968 at the Boston induction center, after we’d taken the oath, and waited for transportation to basic, a Marine officer and 2 NCOs came over and pulled out 4 for the Corp, and talking to others draftees during my time in the army, from all over, that seemed to be S.O.P.

The stories this man could tell about battle in Vietnam would probably leave you speechless! He was in Hue City, Con Thien, hill 881 in Khe Sanh. Those are probably the 3 biggest names in the annals of Marine Corps history in Vietnam. I understand the need to ask specific questions for a documentary, but boy, it would be cool to just let him go through his tour of duty, day by day, week by week, month by month and listen to those stories of battle, fear, degradation, heroism, brotherhood, and duty.
