People say stuff like this often, but.... I GENUINELY can't absorb and process the fact that he's nno longer here. I grew up with this mad lad on Mork and Mindy, Fern Gully (I can still sing Batty's song.....) *shakes her head angrily drunk and confused* Hook. The man was hyper active and out of control, and when anyone would listen he talked about how he grew up, played multiple characters in his room with his toys... became an entertainer. He literally pushed himself to insane heights so that he could make people laugh, remember who they are, what's important. That someone like him was suffering alone, through so much, to the point where.... he, couldn't carry it anymore. I've been chronically ill for a very long time, all of my adult life now... and I hurt. There have been times where I genuinely wanted to "end" myself. "The people you love most and who love you will suffer from that" Yeeeeeeees, but the miserable worthless life I have now is causing them that already sooooo..... "It's going to hur-------" *LAUGHS* I can literally smash my forehead into a wall and amusingly it's nowhere near what's inside my colon in terms of pain.... ...Just make it stop. There's no purpose to it, there's no "cause" I'm enduring, I'm just in agony for *NO* damn. Reason. Aside from the fact that I'm human. Aside from the fact that honestly, if I hadn't become so ill at this specific point in my life, I would've probably been an evil little ungrateful bitch. *smiles warmly, makes a goofy face* So stupid that I couldn't get the lesson some other way? He was a kind and generous man. Also human, and did a lot wrong. But to know we're all human, we've all done so much that is selfish.... yet the man he wanted to share with US was a man who constantly saw the world in another light. He constantly made us laugh, he constantly was an offensive goofball, pushing boundaries and barriers. I hate the fact that this poor man couldn't stay here with us all, because the burden and pain he bore was too much. "To die will be a great adventure." A journey into the unknown of unknowns. A shattered lens of a most focused mind, the human condition unbearable alone. Robin Williams is a treasure we'll never see again. The likes of, surely. Hopefully. A waning sun hangs low in the sky, and may we all be grateful for the effort he showed us, the film, the memories. A true legacy.
I saw Robin Williams at a bookstore in Berkeley. First I just heard tons of laughing, adults and kids. I went over, and there he was! He was grabbing kids books off the shelf and acting out the covers for the kids. It was amazing. I stayed a bit then just left him alone, this was before selfies and all that and people were being respectful. Amazing how much light and joy he brought into other peoples lives. Losing him the world lost a brilliant light. This is one of the few movies that gets me 😭 Rest in peace Robin.
The "it's not your fault" scene still hits me. The movie brings up how Will was an orphan and was removed from foster homes due to abuse. Many times, it's implied the abuse was absolutely horrific. Sadly, many victims of abuse often blame themselves, thinking there was something they could do to prevent it. That's never the case. There's no excuse when it comes to domestic violence.

That whistle he uses in the first scene with Will is the exact same one I use with my young daughter to let her know she's crossed a line. Sad thing is, Will never had a parent who cared enough to have those little shorthand signals.
My mom is/was a librarian and I pretty much grew up in the library. I would get to hang out with all her co-workers and ask all the reference librarian questions. Had a buddy who went to grad school at MIT he was a smart dude.
You might also consider adding "Awakenings" to your Robin Williams queue of films to watch. Very under-rated, but Williams and Robert DeNiro are both absolutely brilliant in this film. Really tugs at the heartstrings.

It's interesting how you say he has "fear of commitment" but in truth Will is severely traumatized. Commitment is just a very small part of it. It's a great movie and I am happy you watched it!
Robin didn’t rush Will until he was ready. At each stage Robin waited for Will to catch up with him unlike the others who wanted results right away. Robin knew what Will was going through because he went through the same thing. He challenged him and ever so slowly he started to respect him and trust him. That’s when he told Will it was not his fault. I loved this movie. It’s hard to believe Matt and Ben wrote this screenplay at this age.
'Sean' was the perfect "therapist" for Will, not only he understood him, by being frim the same neighborhood but also having a similar upbringing, none of the other therapists could help Will the way Sean did. What a perfect role for Robin Williams, he became famous for his comedy roles but when it comes to his dramatic or thriller roles he was also fantastic portraying those. Being this therapist, being an English teacher in Dead Poets Society or a killer in Insomnia or an unhinged person in 24 hr photo, Robin's range was unbelievable, as wonderful an actor as the best of them and yet he was mostky seen as a "funny guy". I spent the 90s living in & around Boston. watching this always makes me nostalgic. the Bow & Arrow Pub where he meets Skylar, the Tasty ("so good they built Harvard around us") where they had burgers, the long Red Line ride out to Dorchester & Southie, MIT's Infinite Corridor running across campus from Mass Ave practically out to Kendall Square.
I've lived in Boston for the last 10 years. You would not recognize the place. Kendal is all biotech labs and tech companies. Dorchester and Southie are hot up and coming, expensive areas and most of the old townie pubs are gone. Red line is about the same though.
One of my favourite movies of all-time, and pretty much instantly cemented Matt Damon as one of my favourite actors. Great reaction, the lag on catching the "Mary & Paddy" joke was particularly entertaining. Definitely subscribed now. 👍

Probably the ultimate getting over being sick movie is a movie that is about a kid that’s sick and his grandpa is reading him a story. Yes I am speaking of The Princess Bride
Robin Williams' line and small monologue: "She used to fart in her sleep. One night it was so loud it woke the dog up. She woke up and was like, 'Oh, was that you? ' I'd go, 'Yeah' - I just didn't have the heart to tell her," was all improvised, ignoring the intended script completely. As a result Matt Damon played along, and his laughter was legitimate and him breaking character.
What makes that scene even better is that if you look closely towards the end of the scene, you can see the camera shaking slightly because the camera guy was laughing too.

Can u believe these 2 dorks, Matt and Ben, started writing this in their early twenties, having no idea what or how to write! And someone they knew was blown away, and got a rough bit to robin! And how they got Robin and Stellen to do this, I'll never know! Robin won an Oscar for this! After Robin died, Matt goes back to the bench every year on Robin's bday, sometimes with his kids. The park bench is a memorial now! The younger guy is Casey Affleck! The red head is now in Yellowstone, Cole Hauser! A fantastic actor, but a bit of a loose cannon. His father was even a better actor, but certifiable! Wings Hauser!! Originally, they didn't know how to write the end. Robin comes up with the final line, director and Matt look at each other like, Movie done! He add-libbed the wife farting lines. Matt is cracking up for real. Even the camera man was rolling....look at the camera frame on that scene, it's shaking! Robin has done several top feel good movies. This, patch Adams, good morning Vietnam, awakenings, Dead Poets, and really one could say the bird cage, Doubtfire and Jumanji....which is really a movie about Spielberg's relationship with his dad.
When we were stationed at Ft. Devens, MA in the 90s, we went to Boston a few times bny train. If we couldn't get a weekend pass, we'd have to make sure we got back to the train station for the last train out back or we were SOL. We did all the touristy things, including going to the Cheers Bar and we ended up carving our names into a table meant for that purpose at a Hard Rock Cafe there as well.
Most of the people who react to this movie try to act comical and entertain their viewers until the seriousness and emotion of this film hits them and they finally shut up.

growing up it was always "carmel" as in "carmel corn" or "carmel apple" and i'm sure i picked it up hearing it, because written it's "caramel" same thing with sherbet. i know i'd heard it as "sher-bert" growing up, and I think the 2nd harry potter book has "lemon sherbert" as dumbledores password, but years later all I herd was "sher-bay" and "sore-bay"

Do you even realize that Matt Damen and Ben Affleck wrote this script for the movie good will hunting? They sold it to the studio with the understanding that they would play their parts. They had half a bucket of Kentucky fried chicken in there fridge.
Basically, Robin Williams got young Ben Affleck and Matt Damon the co-writing Oscar that exploded their careers. Before this, Affleck had been in a couple of Kevin Smith movies, and Damon had been in nothing. Now they're Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
Hahaha, at the first scene with Robin and Matt: "I did not see that coming"....guys be like "Oh yeah, we saw that coming a mile away" XD That was an insight in to the "secret-man-language", they where not having a nice talk, they where sizing each other up defining where the so called "line in the sand" is.
Major props to the editor who screwed up a nice reaction by chopping up scenes so poorly I felt I missed out. And almost all of the park monologue is inexplicable. I'm sure most of us would've liked to see your expressions there. So easy to edit a movie and so many blow it.
At 11:22 , how is the interaction between Will Hunting and Sean (Robin Williams) funny? Will disrespected Sean's wife and Ms. Cavazos finds it funny? Ms. Cavazos can't tell the difference between drama and comedy, therefore I have to give this reaction a THUMB DOWN. 👎

The park bench is a memorial now! The younger guy is Casey Affleck! The red head is now in Yellowstone, Cole Hauser! A fantastic actor, but a bit of a loose cannon. His father was even a better actor, but certifiable! Wings Hauser!!
Originally, they didn't know how to write the end. Robin comes up with the final line, director and Matt look at each other like, Movie done! He add-libbed the wife farting lines. Matt is cracking up for real. Even the camera man was rolling....look at the camera frame on that scene, it's shaking! Robin has done several top feel good movies. This, patch Adams, good morning Vietnam, awakenings, Dead Poets, and really one could say the bird cage, Doubtfire and Jumanji....which is really a movie about Spielberg's relationship with his dad.

Ever since I saw that Family Guy's reference to this movie , I can't stop laughing at the "it's not your fault" scene.
When we were stationed at Ft. Devens, MA in the 90s, we went to Boston a few times bny train. If we couldn't get a weekend pass, we'd have to make sure we got back to the train station for the last train out back or we were SOL. We did all the touristy things, including going to the Cheers Bar and we ended up carving our names into a table meant for that purpose at a Hard Rock Cafe there as well.
How many people are out there that are super smart but never reach their potential? Many.
How many are savant-level smart? Extremely rare.
Most of the people who react to this movie try to act comical and entertain their viewers until the seriousness and emotion of this film hits them and they finally shut up.
That year when Matt & Ben went to the Oscars ceremony, they both took their mothers. It was very sweet. And then they actually won! 😊

growing up it was always "carmel" as in "carmel corn" or "carmel apple" and i'm sure i picked it up hearing it, because written it's "caramel"
same thing with sherbet. i know i'd heard it as "sher-bert" growing up, and I think the 2nd harry potter book has "lemon sherbert" as dumbledores password, but years later all I herd was "sher-bay" and "sore-bay"

Basically, Robin Williams got young Ben Affleck and Matt Damon the co-writing Oscar that exploded their careers. Before this, Affleck had been in a couple of Kevin Smith movies, and Damon had been in nothing. Now they're Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
I suggest watching From Dusk Til Dawn. George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Juliette Lewis, Harvey Keitel.

Hahaha, at the first scene with Robin and Matt: "I did not see that coming"....guys be like "Oh yeah, we saw that coming a mile away" XD
That was an insight in to the "secret-man-language", they where not having a nice talk, they where sizing each other up defining where the so called "line in the sand" is.
Major props to the editor who screwed up a nice reaction by chopping up scenes so poorly I felt I missed out. And almost all of the park monologue is inexplicable. I'm sure most of us would've liked to see your expressions there. So easy to edit a movie and so many blow it.
This is a top three movie for me. One issue: That car ain't making it to California.
