I have an autographed Miyagi action figure. Pat Morita signed it for me, and he also wanted me to send him an additional action figure for his wife. He was a dear personal friend, and I miss him.
now that's pretty cool
Wait. You mean to tell me all these decades I could have been carrying a Mr. Miyagi figure everywhere with me to both inspire me and judge me?
“Can you chop a log in two like that.”
“Don’t know. Never been attacked by tree before.”
Holy crap! I remember these figures. I never had any but recall seeing them collecting dust on the TRU shelves
Karate kid tricked me into doing my chores thinking I was training to be a fighter. I had the competition set. I also had a ton of police academy figures. My dad was a cop and loved that movie and died in 87 when I was 8. So, the police academy toys I collected. Anyone else remember the police academy figures? Based on the cartoon series?
Would have loved an Elizabeth Shue doll growing up. A full size one
I had Miyagi and the Daniel with the ice. That was a great accessory
I remember these! I loved them as a kid. I had Daniel, Krese, Chosen & Sato I think. Could never find Mr. Miyagi. Their accessories were pretty cool too. Remco had a lot of fun toylines in the 80s, lol. Good times.
I've got a Mr Miyagi figure - in mint condition coz I never played with it. Looks cool now in my collection but I'm glad I bought it on clearance and didnt spend much on it!
We had these, including the Playset. It made a great villains base for Jitsu and the red karate jacket from the one Daniel action figure was how I turned my extra Princess of Power Castaspella into "Katie Karate."
Welllllllll no Elizabeth Shue figure that line was doomed. Lol. Hey Junkman great video
Never had any of the Karate Kid figures but did have a few of Remco's Secret of the Ninja line that came out a year or so before. They had action features as well and were pretty nifty.
Been missing these vids, rule number one, Star Wars rules, rule number Two, Junkman keep 'em coming
I just remember seeing the commercial for the Karate Kid (Daniel) and Johnny figures on TV. I had no idea any of the other toys (or variations) existed.
Where I lived at the time, I never saw these in the stores. I only remember seeing the line in a Sears Christmas catalog.
What a flashback! Great video. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had completely forgotten about my Daniel son action figure. I only had the plain old white plastic version. Didn't want any others. lol Thanks for the vid!
I had a Daniel figure, I loved the plastic wood board accessory where the figure could chop it in half and put it back together. I guess I was easily amused. But good memories.
Damn i had the daniel with the board and johnny with the brick wall, those break away pieces were pretty cool. Used to use scotch tape to apply sticky residue between the pieces to help hold them in place after they wore out.
I had the one with the breakable ice. I had never seen those playsets before watching this. Who doesn't like breakable wood!😉 Cheers🍻👍🏻
I bet Kathleen Kennedy was in charge of The Karate Kid action figure line. "Wheem hate when meen have fun".
I seem to remember seeing these at a Big Lots around 1989/90. Maybe they should have packed the duplicate figures with ninja weapons like bo staffs, nunchucks, throwing stars etc to encourage purchases of duplicate characters.
Had alot of these action figures as a kid loved them
Amazing Action Figures! This was a killer video Junkman, thank you!!!
I had these figures as a kid!! Such a great movie!!
Wow the likeness on the Figures are really good!😲
Dang Junkman, I had forgotten all about these! I had Daniel with the board.
They went wrong by not giving the other figures cheese🧀accessories...👌🏼💯✔
I’ve never seen one of these IRL. I don’t even remember seeing them in stores. Just catalogs and commercials.
Wax on! Wax off!
Great video junkman, bit this toy line was lackluster. It's no wonder it didn't last long.
I had Daniel and Mr. Miyagi
I bet you that toy hunters and Cobra Kai fans are looking for those now
These were too expensive. I remember seeing them for like 5 or 6 bucks after Karate Kid 2 came out and getting sticker shock. To put it in today's terms that was like paying 15 dollars for a figure. Meanwhile GI Joe was like $2.50 a figure and those came with guns. And they were poseable.
Great movie, and another thoroughly, excellent toy review Junkman.
Young Elizabeth Shue's figure gave me breakaway wood!
I've been watching cobra kai. Now I feel like I need this line. Had one or 2 as a kid
Thank u for doing these videos
Breakaway wood!
Lol
The Johnny action figure should've come with a break-away Daniel instead of a fence and wall!
The toyline looked fun
I had several of these figures. Very good figures and fun. Too bad they weren't more successful. Weird since the movies were.
You gotta do the Star Trek 2009 playmates line! It was an epic disaster
I think I had a Miyagi with with the pole or wood, Daniel with ice, Johnny with wall, and a Kreece at one time. I vaguely remember playing with them and the accessories a little bit.
Btw, didn't the packaging say "Sensei Kreece" or just "Sensei" for the Kreece figure?
My little brother had these figures!!! I always wanted Sato.... Never got him. 😕
Lovin' the show, Junkman! 😀
4-LOM 4-LIFE!
Vintage kenner swamp thing figures??
From my understanding kids wanted to play as the karate kid rather than playing with the karate kid toys
Strangely I remember the Playsets but not the figures! Not a bad line but there was just too much competition around at that time 🤷🏼♂️
It does seem like they could have release 1 of each character then released separate accessories to maximize sales
I had the training center, Johnny, Myagi, Daniel, Chosen, Sato
I do remember these figures but I wasn't a fan of the movie so much.
Never knew it existed
They weren't entirely failed. I had a couple of them.
I never knew these existed. Glad I didn't.
I'm a big fan of The Karate Kid films and I need to catch up on Cobra Kai. I think the figures are ok, but they didn't interest me. So, I never owned any of them. The action features were cool for the time though.
I had them also... I bought them at clearance at the then brand new store Kay Bees.
Or so my sources at home say.
And then Brie Larson ( who wasn't thought of yet) and Kathleen Kennedy grabbed me from behind while Ruin Johnson kicked me in the stomach forcing me to buy Indiana Jones figures as well.
Take that with a grain of salt
I want one
It always amuses me when they try to make a toy line on movie or property that’s “drama based” and there’s really nothing exceptional about the aesthetic
There were 5 playsets
I had Daniel and Johnny
Sucks that they didn't make the other Cobra Kai
I would have loved to have had a Dutch figure
tommy and bobby should also be made as action figures
But are they to scale with the Rambo figures released by Remco?
Rambo toys was made by coleco toys....not remco
Yes same size or close
Action figure that is
Mike Barnes and Terry Silver were never made by Remco
I had sato
Ha! i had all these figures :)
👌👍!
Was it failed though? I think if anything the advertising for them was not there. And not a ton more figures they could have made...Maybe a Ally with nut crunching kick? And back then,no one cared about the other cobra Kai goons..Personaly.I think it was a great line for the time..
For the video series any toy line that didn’t sell well enough to get a 2nd series is considered a failed line. If a toy companies knows they can make money they will find away to do more.
Yo! Junkman, you watch cobra Kai?
nope but I hear its good
That Junkman it is.👍🏻
