Idk if you still read comments but after coming to this video i finally understand. i really wish there was more discussion in this video it felt very rushed though. from my own perspective of the video it seems like it’s more of a problem with oppression of african american culture and asian immigrants ignorance of racial context. immigrants who don’t have the means for high quality food can only open in low income communities. because of this now the community is unhealthier and can’t build its own culture around food. these businesses are able to open in the first place because of the history of racism. there’s not enough money invested in the community to replace the cheap and fake restaurants after they eventually close. the businesses leasing properties continue to benefit from racism today by making it difficult for anything but cheap and terrible restaurants from opening. instead they lease to chinese immigrants who can’t provide high quality food and whose businesses are doomed to fail
That’s crazy this doesn’t go viral but as soon as you put “gang signs” in your caption in the last video it gets 44k views 🤦🏽♂️they want us set up for destruction
I’m Chinese and I live in Flushing. I would LOVE a soul food restaurant in Flushing. I think the people who open soul food restaurants only want to do it in Black neighborhoods though. One thing I want to point out - the people who open these cheap Chinese takeouts - if they can afford to open business in a white neighborhood, let’s say UES or UWS, they’d do it in a heart beat. They know they can charge white people more. But they open in Black neighborhoods because the rent is cheaper.
We can do better than falling to divide and conquer from our common enemy. This racist attitude hurts everyone except for those doing the real damage to our communities.
not talking about the entire race? bro did you watch the video? i’m literally talking about these imposters who literally put the bare minimum into their food and establishments and never give to the community that makes them.. they are doing the opposite of what a small business needs to do..
I hear you and agree with many aspects of your critique in the video, but framing it around ‘Chinese restaurants’ can extend harmful stereotypes and create more antagonism. Many of these business owners are dealing with their own challenges and struggles. I wonder if there are other ways we can approach more equitable dialogue with them in good faith that might lead to real change, rather than worsening the animosity.

Ur right, they don't help the local economy prosper, but they are also often family run businesses, they aren't hiring because it's literally just a family and that doesn't give you the right to go in the back where you know you aren't allowed. Do you know how scary it is for a random man to come into your space while you're trying to work with a camera man following suit? ..I've seen your videos about Flushing so I know you know why there are East Asian restaurant in majority Black neighborhoods in NYC. Stop pushing sinophobia man. So disappointed.
We gotta get ‘em outta here and get these black entrepreneurs some loans for business because there are some out there they just like to make the crime popular in our community so a lot of people fall into that but you gotta see how they set us up for failure it’s crazy
I think he's right, but still was disrespectful of the employees. Also, I live in a very well off community, we have Chinese food that looks like what he got. He's complaining about getting charged extra for rice and chicken separate, but everyone knows you get larger portions when ordering separate entrees, so he's BSing a little
@@blissfulgarden4497 I think we can both agree that places like these are very common in poorer neighborhoods due to systemic issues. There isn’t gonna be much change until the government decides to put more effort into it. However while that is on hold, the least these small businesses can do is to care for the community they serve. For example, using decent ingredients, promoting their culture, or doing community outreach. Right now they’re only there to leech off of them which is what bro is highlighting in this vid.
