he had so much singing this song i wonder why he cut it out of his concerts. i consider myself somewhat of a Hee-Haw expert...i'm curious why George would be singing a 1965 hit song on a program that debuted in 1969...I have a blog about that TV show plus one about George, too, among other singers I like.
I really can't tell when this performance is, though. CBS aired the show for two years, 1969-1971, and then it went into first-run syndication for 21 more years, 1971-1992, free of network interference. So, you're right if this was broadcast on the network between 1969 and 1971 but afterward the producer, Sam Lovullo, had way more control over guests and what they'd sing.
Some mention that it's Rockabilly. It's not. "White Lightning" was a straight Rockabilly song. "Love Bug" was a straight Bakersfield sounding song. Buck Owens ruled the charts in the early '60's. Nashville was trying to compete with that.
Guess you’ve heard the story about Buck and George disagreeing about who was going to open a show the we’re doing together. George finally agreed to open, and he went out and sang Buck’s whole set. As he left the stage he turned to Buck and said “Your turn.”😂😂😂
Great song buy mr George Jones there done a lot of good country songs back in the day and other music to when he sings sometimes is mouth is like a puppet how he sings at times and puts is teeth together lol is best event ever was when he sang at Nashville Tennessee 1993 good on DVD worth getting to
I know in the show's later years Sam and company got into a routine of the guests singing their current song in the first half-hour and then in the second half-hour they'd sing a previous hit from the same album or the previous album or they'd sing a song that happened to be on their album at the time which may or may not become a future single. Anyway, I think I answered my own question in my previous comment...Sam and his associates chose what the artist's would sing once they left CBS.

Vintage1976 I heard Buck Owens was not too pleased when Love Bug was released because he thought it sounded too much exactly like his sound.
It cut right through those speakers the amps had a cool sound that's u don't her these days
